If I release my brake slowly and stop again esp at traffic lights, I can hear this creaking metallic sound coming from my rear, as if some hinges is not well oil. The brake is working well just the noise is annoying for a car that is quite new on the road.

There is no noise if I release brake fully, it comes only if I didnt fuly release the brake pedal like in stop start situation. Any idea or similar exp anyone?

It only happens when you're braking and creeping forward at the same time right?

That's the sound of the brake pads gripping on the brake disc trying to slow down your car....

the same reason u can make noise rubbing chalk on chalkboard.

anyway it is normal. brake is not just bite or no bite. theres a 'zone' in between.

the problem (in my experience) usually worse if ure using aftermarket/oem brake pad/rotor, or ur car is old. n as far as im aware, it doesnt impact performance. only abit annoying thats all

all car have it. doesnt matter if its new or old. its just a matter of how harsh it is.

u can try to reduce it by replacing the brake retaining spring (the clip that holds the brake), change brake shim (the metal sheets that are sandwiched between brake pads and brake caliper. but it wont entirely go away.

heres some reading for u

Did you just changed the rear brake pads or shoes? Some pads tend to behave like this after reaching a certain temperature or a particular amount of wear.

I personally would try servicing the rear brakes first which will involve dismantling, cleaning all the pads, shims, grooves from brake dust and grime, then add clean silicone paste/brake lubricant on the edges or contact points of each moving component, and possibly sand off a thin layer of the pads before reinstalling.

Previously encountered this problem on my car after replacing them with Brembo brake pads. Exactly the same circumstances.. apply a bit of brake when the car can still move slightly and there will be this annoying sound.

Ended up changing back to original brake pads and the sound was gone.

What brand of pads you've actually changed to?

Service the brakes. Regrease the brake caliper pins.

The sound is not from the caliper pin. It is definitely the brake pad materials that is causing the sound.
