I applied for RHB Housing loan. When I went to sign the letter of offer, the banker tells me she had applied for TWO RHB credit cards for me!

Mind you, till that point, I HAD NOT signed any paper. I never said yes, nor did I even know about, the RHB Credit Card.

She asked me to sign a form for the credit card application. I said "NO!". I know my rights. I didn't sign it.

Yet 2 weeks later, I get two credit cards mailed to me! Like what the freaking hell.

I work in a financial institution...but this is just so scummy. With MCO all, it is so hard to reach their customer service. Why do I need to go through hoops to cancel the cards?

Want to make a report to Bank Negara also I got like no semangat. I call BNM so many times can't get through.

These people are just so scummy. I am well informed, know my rights, and still kena like this. Pity people who don't know and simply sign and agree here there.

So much effort to remove something I never signed up for!

Where I work doesn't change that this is so fucking underhanded and scummy. How can someone apply for credit card without my approval or signature, some more with my explicit request TO NOT sign up for it? And if it is that easy to sign up, why so difficult to cancel????

not so simple nowadays.
you have to actually cancel the card or they will charge you rm25 after one month of issuing you the card.

i agree with you this is underhanded and not to mention prone to scams.
god knows how many credit cards are applied out there without your knowledge.
your best course of action is lipot them to bank negara.

You sure you didn't sign any documents that explicitly says the company will apply a complementary credit card?

Anyway that's the industry norm, you can either move on or report to BNM. Your choice

100% not. Like I said first she applied already then ask me sign. I obviously refused.

Bank Negara should really come out against this practice.

I mean if they force or bundle also okay. Cause you still need to sign off. In this case I didn’t sign off and explicitly said no, yet here we are. It’s criminal lah

if you work for FI you lagi know why the sales person do this. abo who pay your bonus ooo. no free lunch in this world.

having said that, i'm not condoning the action, which is why, all you have to do is, just call in and cancel the credit card with RHB. All credit card cancellation can be done on phone.

Oh ya, same thing happened to my partner when getting a quote on the RHB house loan too. years back.

Actually, this is not right. The reason sales people keep doing this because people merely either do not activate or simply cancel the card. Make a complaint to BNM and get the bank to withdraw the card.

My PBB banker also told me this when I was signing my home loan agreement, and I have no option to opt out from this eventhough I already have 2 PBB cards

The banker told me its part of the process and the funny thing is sometimes bank will reject application for the credit card

Please refer to this:

My advice to everyone, file a complaint and BNM will take it from there.
