Yeah I really like SIM games.  rclxm9.gif
My CPU only uses about 46~50^% while playing according to MSIBurner. GPU as well around 50%
Only thing that i notice is the RAM usage. Am using Ryzen 5 2600, RTX2060.

I too playing this game Anno 1800, and all other previous games such as Anno 2205, Anno History Collection ( 1404, 1503, 1602, 1701 ), Sim Cities, Sim Tycoon, and any other Sim games.

While others have said they are CPU extensive, but Anno is the only games that i've played that are less CPU but RAM extensive.

I have Ryzen 3600 with 12 cores and 32GB RAM and AMD Radeon RX580.

In Anno 1800 whenever i've build fully until the 4th map and beyond, the game usage of RAM can exceed 28-30GB, because of the huge town that i've build across different map and different islands, and always back and forth between maps to make sure my 50+ boats are sending correct resources.

With Anno 2205 is worst, its bad with 26GB RAM usage when i start building on the moon.

All these while my CPU usage less than 50% using 6 cores only.

I also have tons of islands and resources, but population only at about 20K.
14GB used i think.
So now i am not very sure if i want to upgrade or not, based on some comments above, it doesn't seem necessary.

If u watch linus tech tips, he always play Anno on his home computer, and he too said that Anno is the type of game which is RAM extensive.

So it still depend on your decision and wallet.

i havent played 1800 .. but all games will try utilize MAX ram usage even on the VRAM.. to optimize

hence even you have 64GB im sure you will see usage ard 60GB

the real question is do you think upgrading is JUSTIFIED?

TS, it may sound obvious, have you google "Anno 1800 ram usage" ?
The answer is maybe in the forums. A quick search reveal there are people complain about memory usage.

Good idea. and i just did that and I saw a lot of people commenting that it uses up to 34~38GB when the population in the game becomes crazy. rclxub.gif
I am thinking instead of buying 16GB x 2, i can just add in another 2 more 8GB RAM which will be cheaper for me. xD

My system is with 32GB. Total RAM usage when playing this game is around 21GB. I only on 3 worlds now. My pagefile commited usage is over 20GB with max allocated 37GB sweat.gif

If there's no slowdown then won't impact your gaming experience. Additional RAM only help to less writing on SSD which will help make the SSD last longer. But these days SSD also not expensive, it might even lived until your next system upgrade which that time use DDR5.

32GB is the new 16GB in 2021. Depends what other tasks you do with your PC while gaming too.

you think so? I was in the market for a new laptop and it's surprising how many performance laptops still ship with 16 or even 8GB of RAM
Should I look for 32GB RAM in my laptop?

No 16GB is still the sweetest spot. 16GB to 32GB doesnt have much differences unless you are video editing and etc.
