Manchester United will be without Paul Pogba for a few weeks after the midfielder was injured in the 3-3 draw with Everton.

January's Player of the Month has been in exceptional form and was performing well as the Reds led the Toffees in the first half, only to signal to come off when appearing to suffer a problem that has now been diagnosed as a thigh-muscle injury.

Fred replaced the World Cup winner as the Reds ultimately secured only a point, despite a tremendous overall performance at Old Trafford.

A scan was required to assess the extent of the damage and, unfortunately, Pogba now faces an enforced spell on the sidelines with key games at home and abroad coming up.

“It's an injury that will take a few weeks to heal,” manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer informed MUTV's Mark Sullivan in an exclusive interview on Monday afternoon. “He's just started his recovery, working with the medical staff and we'll get him back as soon and as safely as we can.

“Of course, Paul has been very important for us and we're not going to take any risks. [So it is] A few weeks definitely.

“You never want to be injured and, especially, now Paul was really finding his form and enjoying his football. For us, we just have to take as many points and wins as possible, when you lose players.

“We've been very healthy and strong for a long period so we can't moan too much.”

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has provided an update on his plans ahead of the Europa League tie with Real Sociedad.

The away leg will be held at the Allianz Stadium  in Turin as the Reds are hoping to go all the way and repeat the success in the competition in 2017, when Ajax were defeated 2-0 in Stockholm.

Not only will Donny van de Beek and Edinson Cavani fail to make the flight to Italy but there are question marks over the involvement of Scott McTominay and Anthony Martial against the Basque side.

Paul Pogba remains on the sidelines and the boss has confirmed the France international will not be back before March at the earliest.

“Paul is recovering well,” explained the manager at a press conference. “He's starting the treatment but it will still be a few weeks. He won't be playing in February, that's for sure, it's still a few weeks before we see Paul definitely.

“Apart from that, we have a couple of doubtful ones, if they'll be fit enough - Anthony and Scott.

“Donny and Edinson are injured unfortunately, muscle injuries, so they won’t travel.”

Manchester United and England forward Marcus Rashford has been named in Time magazine's Next 100 list as someone who is helping shaping the future, in recognition of his campaigning work on child poverty.

The list comprises athletes, entertainers and political leaders among others, with the 23-year-old appearing under the classification 'advocates'.

Seven-time Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton was chosen by the American weekly magazine to write the entry on Rashford.

Hamilton writes: "By standing up for the most vulnerable in our society, and using his platform and influence to create positive change, Marcus inspired countless others to join him on this mission and cemented his status as a role model.

"In a year that showed us the power of working together toward a common goal, he was a galvanizing force behind uniting people across the UK in the effort to ensure no child goes hungry.

"His determination, resilience and persistence have been truly inspiring. I cannot wait to see how he continues this important work."

Rashford was made an MBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours for his work fighting child food poverty in his home country over the past year and was also recognised with a special award at BBC Sports Personality of the Year.

A petition set up by the footballer calling for free school meals to be offered in England during school holidays reached one million signatures in October and, after huge public pressure, the government agreed to offer extra support to hard-pressed families over the winter.
