Hi. I have a question about the time required for TM to bring on-line a new FDP installation. My Taman just got it's FDPs installed yesterday on 10 Jan. TM contractors started work on 23 Nov 2020 pulling fiber cable. I went to maxis and Digi stores to apply for fiber broadband today. They cannot find my Taman in the availablity port list. Anyone can share how long to wait for TM HSBB to release the new ports?

Wait for a couple of month or so if you want Maxis/Digi. For Unifi, you may get it a little bit earlier.

Thanks!

won't be too long, best to go to TM Point first to register your interest. But I doubt you can opt for what telcos you want besides Unifi itself, the current priority is given to streamyx users and unifi new application, unless digi or maxis have some agreement with TM to reserve ports to them.
*
I see your point about the Streamyx customers getting first opportunities to get the ports. My wife mentioned to me that TM sales representatives have been going door to door asking residents whether they are Streamyx customers since last week. Too bad I dumped Streamyx years ago in favour of Digi infinite 150 package. Just have to be patient then.

You need to go to TMPoint and apply for unifi.
Make sure you jot own the unifi installation address, order number and schedule installation date farther/later as possible.
Next day call 100/chat and cancel the installation, said change of mind.
Then give those unifi installation address to maxis or Digi if you wanna apply with them whistling.gif
*
Good idea. Now is cmco in my state. Can drag out the scheduled installation date and then cancel. My Taman is an old residential area over 40 years old and has less than 60 houses. Majority of the residents are retirees. So I am not worried about not enough ports to be allocated. I took a closer look at the new FDP in black enclosure, it's from fiberhome brand and has 16 ports output. I counted 5 FDP on the poles in my Taman. Anyone knows how much ports is available from one FDP for use?

Good that you already have the FDP
Take the picture of the FDP with clearly seen the wording on it and give it to the tmpoint staff when applying.
If they take very long time to respond, can use aduan skmm to expedite.
Usually they open 8 ports first, when full subscribe then only they open remainder 8 ports
*
Went TM Point authorised dealer in my district yesterday, showed the staff the pictures of the FDP with the ID number and house address. After checking with their system database, the staff told me the port in my Taman is not in the database yet. She then asked me to register first and then TM will contact me when they are ready to install.

You need to go to TMpoint and not the Tmpoint authorised dealer
List available here: https://unifi.com.my/support/tmpoint (select tmpoint only from the drop down)
Tmpoint is tm staff and can open the internal system.
Tmpoint authorised dealer is sales agent and can only open sale portal only
Good luck

Thanks for your input. I can't right now reach the nearest official TM point, which is in mainland Penang and under MCO currently. I am located in Kedah and the nearest official TM point in Kedah is more than 60 km away from my residence. However I am happy to just watched TM contractors doing test work on the FDP in front of my residence as I am typing this reply. They just propped a ladder and a contractor went up to the FDP and plugged in a patch cable into FDP. It took 10 minutes and they are done.

You should be getting Unifi service on-line soon if TM is testing ur FDP. It took TM 3 time checking and testing before going on-line at my area last year.

It's great to get fiber broadband, however I discovered a TNB Allo roadside cabinet 2 km away from my Taman under installation today. No fibre optic cables yet but the cabinet and poles are installed. Maybe I should wait for TNB Allo network to be completed. The packages offered by city broadband is very enticing.

Guyz how to make unifi come my home.they extend infra near my home 1.5km from school (where there has fiber)
Salesman come to our kampung for survey then went silent(1.5years ago)went tm already to be on the demand list and yet im still waiting is there anything i can do?
*
Refer to the first page of the thread, write a complaint letter to SKMM. Then look up this company "https://www.citybroadband.my/" to request for fibre broadband coverage at your residential address. This hopefully would whip TM into action with the appearance of a competitor. In my case, TM did roll out their unifi service in record time, when city broadband started building their fiber optic infrastructure in my hometown.

tm dlink router...
not test with other router as i not stay there anymore...
but my new house i use own tplink change dns ok, no disconnection...

as for the disconnection problem start around 1 month ago when the neighbor install additional line,
that time hear contractor shout "no line?" many time almost 1 hour +.....
*
Sounds like the fiber optic signal has weakened by the installation work at your neighbour's home. It's time to call the technician to check the signal strength from the FDP to your home. The fibre optic cable probably damaged by the installers.
Another possibility is that the installers swapped the ports between the 2 premises. As you mentioned that the installers faced difficulty establishing a stable connection at your neighbour's home. They probably swapped the ports to beat the deadline and make the new customer happy.

Yesterday the contractor test at the room, signal around 32.
As previous got former say maybe contractor use splitter to split the fibre to 2, contractor can do this thing?
It will affect signal?
*
32 db is above the upper limit of 28db spec. So my hunch is right, the connection will be intermittent lost. Ideally signal strength should be less than 25db.
As for splitter usage, they will use this to increase the number of ports. This will affect the signal strength, by increasing noise above 28db. I think they used a splitter at your neighbours port, which had too high signal loss.

keep pestering them until solve it...

Don't forget to demand for payment rebates due to loss of internet service. Maybe you should email a complaint to SKMM against TM for slow rectification work and bad workmanship when the contractors installed your neighbour's internet connection.

I bet TM is the only ISP in the world that dares to provide this sort of plan...

Probably, Malaysia law don't set in writing the minimum internet speed an ISP should offer. Nice relationship with the ISP, you scratch my back, I scratch yours.

U should make 2 complaint, 1 to TM to fix ur line ASAP and another complaint to SKMM/MCMC for TM unprofessional ways. The main reason for this cr×p is TM didnt provide more FDP to all the area and expect customer to bare the nonsense and trouble.
*
What about making a police report on vandalism of telco equipments? Do the public can make such report or only the equipment owner has the right?

it is possible that the installer who installed the fiber to your house forgot to verified that the port has been reserved for you. Then there is an issue where other TM tech will unplug your port, they think the connection to your house is an illegal connection or an old fiber port that has terminated fibre service
*
What's an illegal connection?

Hi guys. I just had Unifi fibre access install yesterday. Can anyone help share the method to access the ZTE universal ONU. The lead installer used a type of rugged tablet with a RJ45 USB dongle to access the ONU to set up the connection. I read that the optical signal strength reading is accessed through the ONU. Thanks.

1. Depend on the position of the router you place and several factors that affect WIFI coverage in your home.

2.The following are the types of routers supplied by Unifi through contractors.

NETIS DL4480V
AZtech DS244WSGV
TP-LINK Archer C1200
TP-LINK Archer C6
TP-LINK Arhcer EC221-G3V
D-LINK DIR-842
D-LINK Covr-1100
D-LINK DIR-825M
D-Link DVG-F2452
fiberhome sr120-a
ZTE Unknown model

The router that will be provided to you is random depend on the stock available at the contractor.
*
My Unifi stock router installed last week is this model from AZ-tech WR744WSGV. Got mesh network capability in the firmware settings.

Can anyone explain what is a rectifier systems?

Convert alternating current voltage to direct current voltage, reading the article, seems like TNB is replacing the rectifiers for long distance under sea DC power cable.

I got Az-Tech WR744WSGV-V3. It's crap. But for the RM89 plan should be okay.
*
I got this stock router too, the 5 GHz signal will disconnect at random times, the 2.4 GHz is too slow in a congested signal environment, too many neighbours 2.4 GHz WiFi networks.

5 mbps out of 100 mbps in Langkawi right now, tried to reboot to no avail, it's randomly fluctuating.
*
Same at Kulim at 3 pm. Now back to 100 Mbps package speed using Ookla app and meteor app. However, Open signal app just gives 9 Mbps
Must be a network routing issue.
