QUOTE(go626201 @ Aug 5 2021, 12:37 AM) rip I was planning to take digi then I reconsider seeing how they keep doing shady things like mangling words in contracts and quietly throttling the network. TM is rather transparent and honest, buy why their contract is so shitty everywhere possible? |

QUOTE(QuantumEdge @ Aug 5 2021, 08:54 AM) When you are dominating the market, you can do anything you want~ I initially want to take digi, but after kena game by their tos fuckery on infinite150 I think twice.I'm tempting to terminate unifi and jump to Digi/Allo next year, but Allo's work seems to be halted in my area after TM going full speed on expanding their fiber coverage (recruited all the subcons). Digi seems promising on their special plans for postpaid users, around RM30~50 cheaper than Unifi's offering of the same speed and their routing seems to be better than Unifi. Maxis refused to enter my area despite TM's infra is ready for over a year now, Celcom's CS is crap... then if you look at digi fiber thread, recently people has been rising alarm about possible throttling. They have done this before on infinite plan (silently throttling and didn't admit). they even game the speedtest related connection to bypass the throttling. They just can't get rid of that shitty mobile telco culture it seems. This post has been edited by failed.hashcheck: Aug 5 2021, 03:57 PM |

QUOTE(aniq8676 @ Aug 21 2021, 04:28 PM) Actually Just straightforward plain dhcp router mode also no problem. For most part there is really no downsides of double nat in home network. Except if you want to access local machines (due to resulting different subnet) then there are some tweaking to be done. This post has been edited by failed.hashcheck: Aug 23 2021, 12:07 AM |

QUOTE(HumanExtinction @ Sep 6 2021, 11:37 PM) hi sifu, a question. My apartment is only 700 sq ft and the router is approximately 25 - 30 feet to my pc. With the method you mentioned, is it possible to get full 800mbps? Of course lan is impossible as the router is too far away from the pc. If only connect to mesh wifi and no any cabling or whatsoever, is it possible to achieve a min of 600mbps? Possible, but unlikely.![]() You can refer the wifi ac speed negotiation table here. Look at second group of rows (2 spatial streams), 80mhz column. This group is the most common set up for home wifi and consumer devices. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « The fastest modulation, 256-QAM (MCS 8/9) typically wont go reliably beyond 20ft even within line of sight, so you will be downgraded to next highest, which is 64-QAM. Assuming you are using typical setup without much noise and obstruction, you are likely to settle on MCS 7 at best which carries around 650mb. QUOTE(Oltromen Ripot @ Nov 10 2021, 11:32 AM) if the BTU modem - the one converting electrical signal jnto light pulses through fiber - then logic lah, you have to return that. i think i read faq somewhere that is forever the property of any ISP. its analogous to TNB's meter. You have no reason to own it. |

QUOTE(heLL_bOy @ Nov 16 2021, 12:33 PM) not from klang valley hope its help you out. Thanks. you in JB?
Im trying to find out whether if Cloudflare really have no dns server in klang valley. When I use 1.1.1.1 on Unifi it gets routed to JB server, which gives like 12ms. Celcom gets slightly worse - goes all the way to Equinix SG with 13-14ms ping. CDN connects properly to KV servers, however. 8.8.8.8 gives reasonable 6ms but I really prefer to not using google stuff whenever possible. |

QUOTE(heLL_bOy @ Nov 16 2021, 01:04 PM) AFAIK, Cloudflare KL not stable usually will down every month or every few months they had route the dns to JBIX or SG server long time ago as primary. rip. such a shame. I remembered using cf dns with constant 4ms and been my unquestioned default in the last three years.Only recently when I switch to new ISP I bothered to check it again, and surprised it went 13ms |

QUOTE(PRSXFENG @ Nov 16 2021, 04:27 PM) For me on Maxis Fibre I'm getting 17ms to Cloudflare, SG server I always perceive quad9 as the most trustworthy of popular dns servers out there. But when I use it on Digi few months back it could get flaky sometimes, like one every 50 requests won't resolve in first try. You should try it however.Worth giving Quad9 a shot? I get 7ms with them In trying alternate-dns currently. 5ms but not very sure how stable it is yet. Has ad blocking baked in but no fancies like dnssec. QUOTE(daniel2006 @ Nov 18 2021, 12:46 PM) assistance needed Those numbers are just suggestion pulled out of thin air. There are no technical basis behind that. You could have 30 devices and still don't have any problem if all they do is just occasional livht browsing. On the contrary, my job involves uploading and downloading large files, my single pc alone could easily saturate 300mbps line most of time.if 100mbps wrote there up to 5devices, im using it more than 5devices, what will happen? 1- using LAN others - using WIFI i've been using it more than 5devices, no problem all these while.. lately, my internet connection keep disconnect, im not sure why. Even using LAN also disconnect. 'Disconnect' alone has many form and level. What the led status show? Could be just just dns problem ? Or maybe http timeout? Ppp disconnect? Router reboot? All out gpon offline? |

QUOTE(daniel2006 @ Nov 18 2021, 01:25 PM) yes, using their tplink for years without issue previously. the issue started last 2days, keep DC. Sounds like problem on TM side or ppp dialing. Pon led on modem got green light right? errr.. too technical. led LAN1 in modem blinks super fast constantly. then sometimes off for few secs and start blinks again. router globe led someitmes turn red(while LAN1 off), turn yellow(while LAN1 blinking super fast constantly) i couldnt surf the webpage, blank, as if no connection. But the LAN icon in pc still connected. weirdly sometimes i still can watch youtube, but i couldnt surf the web (buffering like no tomorrow) ![]() But could be problem on modem too (still tm problem). Have you checked ppp password got filled in correctly? Try call tm. This post has been edited by failed.hashcheck: Nov 18 2021, 02:08 PM |

QUOTE(Orpheus1120 @ Dec 1 2021, 08:25 AM) There is no such thing as loyalty in their eyes. To them we are just a bunch of cows and sheep they wanna slaughter. The fact that one package can have multitude of prices where the most loyal customers oftentimes pay the higher tiers than those whom TM calls "special customers". The whole idea of trying to think of becoming special is stupid and naive in first place. You are buying services from a multi billion, publicly traded conglomerate here, not some artisan invested into relationship with you. They have weaved a tale so convincing and infectious about these "special customers" who deserve low tier pricing that their self-belief kick in. They may even lie, twist or even try to convince the rest of their existing customers that they are too normal to deserve these prices because they have not contributed in making TM great. No, your years of patronage with them don't count because you are just plain stupid. I guess in these days the only way to become "special" is to be shrewd and not to stay loyal and just port out when the time comes. For normal people like me, it's during this brief window of time that I truly feel special and appreciated. How pathetic of me. For any big corporation like this you are just part of bigger number that made up graph to present to investors . When the graph starts growing into unfavorable direction, the marketing team would just formulate a corrective measure just enough to get the graph back in track. QUOTE(Spawny @ Dec 6 2021, 11:39 AM) Seems i got a sms and also on my unifi app that i got a free speed upgrade service for my unifi for 30 days, but speedtest its still showing around 100mbps speed even after i rebooted the modem and router, anyone know what kind of "free upgrade" is this actually? Hah. My friend still paying rm160 for 100mbps without tv. Still no offer whatsoever. And i see some users are getting Unifi 300mbps for RM129, I'm currently using 100mbps for RM129 and I definitely need that 300mbps deal. Do I have to wait until my contract ends to get that special offer at the TM point? Or is it only for selected customers Thanks! |
