Hey guys, hopefully this is the right place to ask...

I'm looking for a chair, let's just say 2k budget to give myself more options. My preferences:
- mesh, tall back
- with back rest
- with head rest
- with arm rest
- I don't need lightning speed wheels cuz I don't move around much

About me/usage:
Height around 165cm
Not overweight
Heavy daily usage, especially with WFH these days, more than 10 hours daily. I'm looking for something that doesn't get stuffy with long hours, without AC.

A simple Google fetched me many results, but a little too much it's hard for me to choose...

Im using ErgoPro myself, with legrest.
My main concern is like you, don't wanna get stuffy without AC, which works for me thanks to the mesh.
You should go and test it out.

I vaguely remember ErgoNovis is much more comfortable but then the price is also skyhigh, at that price point i rather top up and get Herman Miller. So i went for ErgoPro, with additional leg rest cause I do watch movies from my PC and it's nice to just lounge.

Thanks for the suggestion. Good point about leg rest, I hadn't thought of that at all! I also watch movies from my PC often, but coming from a plastic chair, there's not much luxury to start with XD
Hmmm the head rest looks like leather though... I'm afraid it won't last as long as fabric because I sweat a lot 😅 how about heat and sticky feels, how has it been for you to rest your neck on that on hot days?

About testing it out.... Is that available during FMCO (god knows how long this will last)? Actually I'll drop them a message see how this goes haha.

(Still open to more suggestions if anyone else has any!)

Series 2 fits into your budget pretty well

you have the options for:
headrest, fabric color and material (mesh/non mesh), lumbar support, adjustable arm rest (can be multi-dimension), and silent castor

I did not get the leap V2 (which feels great, and at half the price of okamura/aeron remastered) because it doesn't come in mesh option

QUOTE(miyakochan89 @ Jun 7 2021, 02:53 PM)
Im not as tall as you, so my head actually doesn't really reach the neck rest. I had to put an extra pillow between the neck rest and back rest.
It's just PVC, not really leather, so yes it might be deteriorate over time for sure.

Yeah the leg rest was a god send, alternatively you can also get those old school lounge chair that can be folded that costs about RM100 bucks or from Lazada Shopee when you want to watch shows.
*
Thanks both. I've dropped them my questions to find out more.
I guess if anything, I really need to test them out before deciding, and that is a challenge during these times...

Hi, Can you share some snapshot of the Ergopro with the legrest extended? I can't find the relevant detail on their website. Do you think the legrest a worthy upgrade and comfortable? Overall, do you recommend the Ergopro over other brands? My height is at 165cm

*I wish i'm able to try out all the recommended chairs myself, unfortunately i'm situated in the northern most state of our country, so can only make selection base on reviews.

I found the price will be 2599 ordering from their website. Care to share how much you got it for?

Thx
*
My height is about 163-165 also, and I'm waiting for MCO to lift to visit their showroom. If you don't mind waiting for my review which could be months later lol or in 2030 🙄

I asked Evis about the legrest photo, they shared me this:

Alternatively, try contacting Evis on FB, they were very responsive and helpful.

For RM280, it's a no brainer. The quality is top notch, yes the seat is a bit firm, but since I got it for a month now I never had anymore backaches, mind you I sit on my desk from 8am to 6pm work from home, and then continue 6pm to 11pm gaming/watching youtube. All never hurt my back at all. Wish it had a neckrest though, that's my only gripe, probably will change to a mesh chair as this gets a bit hot, and will give this chair to my gf instead.
*
May I know what's your height/body stature? I'm growing more impatient to get a better chair while I'm stuck under this lockdown with no showroom to test sit a good chair... Considering to buy this for the mean time. Once the lockdown lifts, I'll just give to my family and look for a better and pricier one.

If anyone has a decent recommendation for a <RM300 chair, that would be great too. notworthy.gif

hjh87 I received my chair already. Ordered on Monday and received on Wednesday.

I bought from the authorised dealer - Trax Furniture. They came with their own fleet after all, not Gdex.

...

So right now I’m sitting on the faulty chair, patiently waiting for the new unit to come. I hope Trax Furniture honours their words. Since they confirmed it via their WhatsApp number that they will arrange an exchange, and it’ will be another new unit.

That’s all. Haha!  sweat.gif
Note: I still don’t understand why I have to wait until next week though. Boo.

Weren't you on Evis ErgoPro? what happened to that chair?

Ditto. Mau promote can... Like our dear youtuber few pages earlier was quite helpful biggrin.gif

Give pros and cons, pricing, suitable for which kind of build (tall, short, fat, skinny etc)

But hard selling that one product and twisting your limited product selection to "they know what they're doing!" Is just pushing it too much bro... I don't even dare to click to link to find out more when that post screams fake.

Just went to Merryfair and suppose just wan to survey as my list has

Secretlab Titan evo 2022
Merryfair Reya
Alterseat Cg-700

End up I saw Wau 2 and tried it. After heard the heart beating price and I had bought it on the spot 😆[attachmentid=11003780]
*
Is the seat mesh? How many hours do you sit on it, and does it get uncomfortable after a certain point?

Looks like merryfair brand is one of the forum's favourite... I can't recall anyone complaining about it 🤔

but it's no good wo, at least the series from ikea. you really have to go give it a try. the RM499 is terrible. the one @ RM699 is still acceptable but i think alot have been sharing here, you can get sihoo M57 at RM799 only.. that's hell lot more value for money.
*
Do you own a M57? Mind sharing your height and your review about the chair?

I believe I found the same seller as you did, on both Shopee and Lazada. They have a branch in Sri Damansara, and they offer up to 3 years warranty and provide free shipping (except east Malaysia, +150 they said 😅). Looks promising as I'm hoping to secure more discounts on coming 12.12, and it's more convenient to deal with local seller.

On a side note, I decided not to consider Evis anymore ever since I saw their questionable "up to 70% off" ads for 11.11, while none of their products/bundles came close to 50% off even. Talk about failed marketing kek.

Yeah I was attracted to it initially, but the price was so premium, I couldn't bring myself to buy without testing it. Then the more I hear about Sihoo, the less convinced I was, lol.

I saw the youtube video introducing those chairs. The materials look kinda cheap and thin.

OK, time for me to contribute 1 lengthy review since I got my chair now tongue.gif
My own stature: 165cm, normal BMI

Sihoo M57 (black with legrest)
Price: RM829 (originally priced RM859)
I found this seller via Shopee/Lazada, then went to their store as they offered test sit (on rejected units). They offered a minor discount that will be applicable on 12.12, on top of that free delivery and installation.
In hindsight, it is better to just buy from them online because:
1. you will be able to use the platform's vouchers, securing a much cheaper deal.
2. they still offer free delivery nonetheless.
3. In case of seller issues, you have the platform as a leverage to get refunds.
I'm just self-consoling at this point that I didn't have to install the whole thing myself sweat.gif Alternatively, there are other better sellers.

Overall rating: 7/10
Summary: there is room for improvement, and I'm still looking for my sweet spots, but overall okay.
I sat on this for a week now, about 10 hours daily. I no longer feel lower backaches compared to when I had only the plastic chair, but now I'm still struggling with a bit of shoulder ache, also trying to self-correct on my bad sitting posture. No ergonomic chair will help if your posture is wrong.
Update: I learned that one major reason to my shoulder ache is because of my work desk - it's too tall for me. I work around by maxing out seat and armrest heights to level my arms with the tabletop, but I end up straining my shoulders for that, and I have to rest my legs on a footrest.
It has many adjustable parts so it took me a while to get the adjustments right but that is a good problem to have smile.gif
I love the legrest, the minor topup was totally worth it.
Wide seat allows me to be flexible and fold my legs up if I want to (not recommended for ergonomics though).

-1 Limited armrest adjustment: as I only occupy 60-70% of the chair, the armrests are too far apart for me. They are a bit awkward for me to rest both arms on.
-1 Armrest discomfort: plastic made armrests (I presume for durability reason) are a bitch to rest your elbows on. Boy they hurt when I rest on them for prolonged period. It does not help that my old cheap desk is not 100% fit to the chair and myself, so I cannot have a 90 degree ergonomic elbow posture. Will need to DIY wrap them with something softer, but I guess they will stick out like sore thumbs,... if you care about looks.
-0.5 headrest is very, very hard to adjust. I'm still looking for a good spot for me but I feel the need to adjust it every time I alternate between lounging and working. At least after adjusting, I can feel my head and neck are rested.
-0.5 Can't lie on your back further than 100~110 degrees. Wanna lie further back when I'm off work... but I can't feel lazy enough lol.

Other comparisons:
Benel Q-Mesh
This was my office chair, I think... they're more than 8 years old so it's a bit hard to find an older model. I used to think they were great, until I went back just last Friday to sit on them again. The lumbar support was horrendous as it the depth is not adjustable. I never realised it was not suitable for me before this because I always had my plushie to cushion my back (but due to pandemic, I took it home). Also, only the back is mesh, but it was not a problem for me at the office because it's air conditioned. All in all it is simply inferior to Sihoo M57 is terms of adjustability, but I guess the durability is definitely proven, having lasted so long in my company office lol.

IKEA Matchspel
I tested it at their outlet, which was also air conditioned, but I reckon it will not be a nice sit for me at home due to its leather seat. Otherwise, I think the mesh is comparably softer(?).
Headrest was a little awkward and not adjustable enough. Could've been a decent choice if they offered a full mesh version. On other note with IKEA chairs, they are generally not very adjustable, so it's easy to find them incompatible, which turned out to be the case for Markus on me.

Hmm good to know. My current cushioned ones got so soft that my butt can feel the wood underneath sweat.gif

So tempted to go with Sihoo v1 for its price x ergonomic features, but really like Secretlab Titan Evo 2022's design (only minus seat adjustment and leg extenders), in particularly their special editions...

Can't choose cry.gif
*
Not sure about secretlab, but as a Sihoo user, I'm confident v1 will be a decent choice since it offers 4D armrest adjustment, one notch above my M57.

If the chair you want has limited adjustment, then it's important for you to test sit first to find out if it fits you. The same chair can feel like heaven for one but hell for the other, due to varied body sizes.

Plan to buy 1 for my 14 years old nephew, just because it has metal base. Those who bought before, how durable is the base? RM150 is a no-brainer.

https://www.officepro.my/office-chairs/ergo...p-m2-mesh-chair

Or any other alternatives? Just need a basic work chair like above, with metal base, for the kid to study at home.
*
Looks like it has a curved back for lumbar support, but it's non adjustable?

I've had my nightmare with a non depth-adjustable lumbar support, my back hurt more with it because it was poking against my back. Had to work around it by cushioning my back with a small pillow - I reckon doing so defeats the purpose of having it meshed. Your target user being 14 yo, he might also outgrow whatever comfortable feeling he has for the chair even if he tests sit that chair.

If you want to buy meshed seat then I'd recommend you to spend more to get an adjustable lumbar support - both height and depth. A good chair can last years, so it's a decent investment anyhow for the growing child.

Otherwise if you cannot afford to top up at all, then a simple wheeled office chair for your nephew isn't going to break his back since he's young.

QUOTE(BlackPen @ Dec 29 2021, 09:14 AM)
Hi, currently I'm looking for a gaming chair / ergonomic chair for my work desk. Work at home at night (about 2 hours) and my wife WFH 2 days a week.

Height 183cm (me) and 160cm (wife)

I'm not sure a gaming chair is considered an ergonomic chair  rclxub.gif both chairs (gaming / ergonomic) seem comfy to me.

I'm more prefer fabric or mesh instead of PU / leather.

What's on my mind are:-
Razer Iskur (RM1550) - multi layer synthetic leather
Secretlab Titan Evo 2022 Softweave (RM1850) - Softweave plus fabric
Flexispot Ergochair 2.0 / Ergoscale (RM 1399 / RM 1099) - Mesh type

the above all comes with lumber support

Budget RM1,500+-. Any recommendation?
*
I'm a Sihoo M57 user, and I would recommend its higher level counterpart i.e. Sihoo V1: https://sihoo.com.au/products/sihoo-v1-ergo...ic-office-chair (link for the product description)
I think it's still in your budget(?)

The M57 seat is also too wide for me, so it's unfortunate that I cannot adjust the armrest inwards (no 4D adjustment). V1 has 4D adjustment smile.gif my full review here: https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?act=ST&f...078823&st=1000#

I would say the most adjustable chair would be best for the both of you due to the difference in your body stature. I can't say for the ones you're looking into because I've never studies those models.

I bought during 12.12 sale. With lazada bonus and shop voucher it was rm729
*
How funny, I bought from them in their shoplot early Dec and I asked whether they can offer any discount on par on the upcoming 12.12 sales at that time. They did, and assured me it'll be cheaper to buy from their shop directly. End result, I paid for more and they saved their platform commission. I did get a free delivery + installation by them as a consolation, I guess.

... I can only blame myself for being a non frequent Lazada shopper to know that there are many vouchers up for grabs, e.g. RM10 off per RM100 and other stackable buffs.

Good eye! Someone said the same somewhere in this thread too, that they're OEM. I'd say there's no more reason to consider Evis when there are sellers on Lazada/Shopee already, at a much cheaper price. Previously you had to Taobao and ship from China directly... Which could be annoying if you needed to claim warranty cuz everything DIY.

Lastly some comments for the arm rest. I rmb reading quite a few reviews saying its uncomfortable and quite hard.... surprisingly for me they are totally fine. Its not exactly hard to me, i was expecting it to be hard solid plastic but in reality its slightly soft.
*
"a few" probably was just me but i posted twice about M57 haha. Now that you mentioned, i tried pressing the armrest and indeed it is slightly soft.. emphasis on SLIGHTLY. Honestly i don't feel snugly at all cuz I actually have to hard press that down lol, otherwise, knocking on it I get kok kok kok sound.

It's my biggest pet peeve here because I rely on them to align myself to the desk height which isn't really a good fit to me. I can't rest on it 90 degrees, instead I rest my elbows most of the time instead, which makes it sore over time sad.gif

how long does it take generally to adapt to a new chair?

*
I think it's something to do with your overall workstation and chair adjustment. Not sure how you tested, but for me, I made the mistake of only sitting but not trying out with a workstation -- desk and keyboard etc.

Is the desk height suitable?
- If the desk height is too high, you end up compensating by increasing your seat height, then your feet might not touch the ground. You'll need a footrest.
- If the desk height is too low (unlikely?), I think your wrists will sore.

Are you working with laptop instead of PC? Laptops are harder to achieve ergonomic posture. Monitor/screen should be at eye level. Your head and body should relax against the chair. Frankly I forget to rest my head often so I tend to have sore neck by EOD lol.
