Some houses here also no gate also la, just look at some precinct in Putrajaya also no gate. My relatives living in Putrajaya house no gate one.

Because usually their house are smaller than Malaysia, second because they put priority to backyard. Often they would rather have bigger backyard than driveway, which we rarely see any significantly sized backyard in Malaysia. In term of crime, its just the same, sometime its even scarier, bcause there are many cases of people just trying to open ur door incase u forgot to lock your door, and hence why in western countries their front door often have three layers of locks. In fact, theres this one time, i intentionally leave my door unlock because im planning to go out anyway, and in such short time, i found a huge white guy in my kitchen, such crazy world.

If u asked me, i'd rather have front gate than not having one

I stayed in omputeh country for 5 years, rarely see gate at most fence at chest level at the backyard for pets to run around. Front yard is usually a huge concrete patch for driveway and a green patch of grass. Almost every home has security system and their popo respond time is damn quick, and you can defend yourself by shooting the intruder. Robbery rarely happens (with occupant inside) but break in does when no one's at home in my area.

For g&g housing area..without gate is more convinient .

But lived in putrajaya open space without gate quite scary. Many times some random saleman come press the bell. Even tho my area considered crime free. Still i need to lock the main door/grill.

US grocery store allows u to do self-weighing for fruit/vege and self-checkout. Many China students abused it by putting every item as banana because its the cheapest item per pound

Most of the omputeh gateless houses are low to middle income houses.

Those rich omputeh houses got walls and gate and in fact to the point sometimes you can't even see the house at all from outside.

but to answer your question generally there's no wall and gates simply because the neighborhood is safe.

Stayed in affluent area in omputeh country, no gate, no fence at front. Robbery really rarely happen... I think according to history the last robbery is more than 10 years ago.. but parcel theft is quite common.. some are actually kleptomaniac rich neighbours who steal
