Its School Rumble. I really don't think kids would understand all the love triangles forming throughout the whole series and I highly doubt the dubbers can properly translate all the Japanese language puns jokes.

School Rumble does not really have that many puns, the most obvious one I remember should be the Harima's Itoko thingy he said to Yakumo.

it ain't the same when japanese anime being translated to malay...those western anime,they dont translate..translate only those japanese anime..for me, i seldom watch it..might as well go download and watch it...

Tenma was one my favorite anime characters.

1st year was ok, 2nd is good toward bad, but 3rd year, everything become really messy.
n Harima + Eri is my fav. but cant deny it the shows really sux, n the manga is really turning garbage.

So it's in BM eh? Sad....even being in BM subtitles with the original Japanese audio track would be better.

Well, let me put it this way: there are some things Japanese are good at, namely making cars, drama's, electronics etc. And there are some things they are not good at, namely speaking English and awareness of the world.

On the other side, there are some things Americans are good at, namely Hollywood, computing technology and TV shows. They are lousy when it comes to pronouncing Japanese names and their food.

Closer to home, there are some things we are good at, namely food. And there are some things we're hopeless at, like dubbing and running a country.

Let's keep it that way.

I can do a perfect imitation of all the Doraemon's cast in BM...which is probably done by 1 or 2 ppl.

Doraemon had 1 more unlikely 2 different voiceovers for all the characters. Even the American dubs of animes like Rahxephon and GITS are top notch. They put us to shame.

If you can't find enough sound variety for all the characters, DON'T DUB AT ALL.

Viewful Joe on TV 2......im gonna kill myself when hear the dubbing!

Naruto Abdriged has only 2 people as dubbers, but the quality is top notch. Would have liked that quality in locally-dubbed anime.

They should just dub bible black for the heck of it. Moaning is a universal sound you know

they can put the nice sentences which are similar to the meaning instead of direct translations like

well, it has to be seen in context. It is made in Japan, for people who can read Japanese afterall. I've met some Mainland Chinese who are Prison Break fanatics, and it is dubbed in Chinese in China. And they have the same complaint as you.

Ironically, I probably are the only one who thinks that Yakumo's voice does not match her character. To a lesser extent, Harima too. Tenma and Eri voices are better in comparison.

IMO, I don't like japanese anime dubbing into other languages, especially Malay.....

Malay dub for anime was never good (or at least almost as good as US english dub). There're simply not enough variety for the voices, so it's quite annoying to hear the same voices over and over in different anime.

NTV7 subtitles are not up to par too, it's timing is way off most of the time and sometimes no subs at all! They have some lazy staff over there. Bleach has very good subtitles.

The subbers at NTV7 are f***ing lazy with the timing. I can do a lot better with my Aegisub. Heck, WTF with the ultra XXXXXL large fonts? Are we f***ing blind here in malaysia?

I don't think they have the luxury of using Aegisub. Most TV stations have invested in "professional" equiptment, in this country where everything non-BM has to be subbed.

I was just sarcastic. And it's only NTV7 ironically. TV3 has good sub timing of all teh TV channels we have in Malaysia, including Astro. NTV7 is the crappiest.

Mamiko Noto does not do that role well enough. The likes of Mika Kanai and and whoever voiced Mikuru Asahina in Haruhi Suzumiya can do better, for examples that I can pull out from my memories now. As I watched the anime after reading manga first (a lot of times), the few moments after Yakumo makes her entrance makes me exclaim "She could do with a better voice actress that represent her character better".

For Harima, the voice actor failed to bring out the aggressiveness from that school delinquent that is Harima. The hero in Tenshi na Konamaiki is basically the same as Harima, but the voice actor is so much better. Played the role of pitiful delinquent so much better than the one who voiced Harima. Lazy to check who they are.

If there are 3rd season, I hope the producers replaced Yakumo's voice actress. After all, they have done it with in the past and can do it again. I can tolerate Harima's voice somewhat but Yakumo's voice is something else.

That would be Goto Yuko. But bar any accident (like the one that took place to the Seiyuu for Takemoto in ep12 of HachiKuro when Kamiya Hiroshi had a traffic accident and was replaced by Nojima Kenji) Seiyuus for a series usually stick till the end. It's cheaper that way

Well for 二学期　they replaced Yuuka Nanri with 桜井 真子 (sakurai maiko? Damn, i need some hiragana...) for Karen. Personally, both of them fitted her.

And Harima isn't so much of a school delinquent rather than a "pitiful delinquent". Aggressiveness isn't part of the script. But lets agree to disagree, ne?

I think Slam Dunk is the best 1,which still got the fun & funny part althgt dubbing.

Itoko's friend (Yoko Sasakura) had a change in seiyuu too. Aya Hirano did her voice in nigakki.

in local dub, i think, the problem mostly is for the male character.

for female character, i think less problem.

nanoha sound very squeaky in the bm. Is it because an elder woman trying to imitate a kid voice?

Thank goodness I don't watch anime on TV anymore. I've been blessed the day I started watching fansubs. I'm never going back to crappy dubs and inaccurate subs.

The UBW chant got PWNED in the Animax English dub and the subtitles for animax are practically translated from the english audio. What's the facken point, then?

Its unfair to tar all English dubs with the same brush. Yes, while there are some bad ones, there are also some good ones. I have heard the School Rumble dub, and its decent. I wouldn't mind. Mind you, I've heard the love Hina and FMP dubs, so I know what I'm saying here.

And yes, they dragged that Hirano Aya to do Sasakura for the 2nd semester. I almost died when I learnt of that. NO WONDER IT SOUNDED SO DAMN FAMILAR!!!! Damn gothic seiyuu's.

school rumble dub is okay...to me its not as bad...but i thinklike it is a new compaany not the ones doin the older ones like doraemon and such. i will now rate the dubbing in four stages( with a bleach homage XD) in my opiniong :

These dubbers are the worse.not jus tat they remove most of the music, all the guy characters sound the same, jus mre constipated in each or deeper, especially in MAR. dubs korean most of the time. i thnk they manage to hire my fave malay voice actor, naruto's voice, to join their crappy piece of crap group.

I think why Malaysian dubs fail is because (obviously) they just hired most of them without professional training.

PS If there is a seiyuu-like training school in Malaysia I would want to know how many are actually working as dubbers here.

Went to India in 2007, their quality of dubbing i mean, in Hindi, is way way wayyyy much better than what he have in Malaysia.
