It says the bike will come to Msia first in early 2022. To what or whom do we owe that honour?

CFMoto To Launch 800MT Adventure Tourer In Malaysia Soon

A premium yet affordable option in the middleweight ADV segment.

By: Enrico Punsalang

Earlier this year, Chinese motorcycle manufacturer CFMoto made international headlines after unveiling its most powerful and most technologically advanced motorcycle to date—the 800MT. For several years now, the company has been working with KTM in developing new bikes for the Austrian company, as well as handling manufacturing duties in China and neighboring countries.

The CFMoto 800MT serves as the first fruit of the partnership between the two companies as far as product development is concerned. The middleweight adventure bike is based on the same platform as KTM’s 790 Adventure, but has been packaged as a more affordable, bare bones alternative to the Austrian adventurer. Ever since the start of development of the 800MT, CFMoto had purchased the rights to KTM’s LC8 parallel-twin motor, as well as the 990cc V-twin that used to power the earlier generation of Super Duke.

Upon the launch of the 800MT in CFMoto’s home country of China, the rest of the world—particularly the Asian market—was eager for this new adventurer to venture over into their respective markets. At last, the CFMoto 800MT will be making its debut in the South East Asian market starting with Malaysia. Considered as an automotive manufacturing hub in the region, market trends in Malaysia tend to be followed shortly after by its neighboring countries. That being said, it won’t be surprising to see the CFMoto 800MT venture into neighboring markets such as Indonesia, Vietnam, and the Philippines sometime next year.

CFMoto is expected to officially unveil the 800MT in the Malaysian market early in 2022, with speculation suggesting that the bike will fetch a price of around RM 50,000, or the equivalent of around $12,000 USD. When launched, it’ll put up a fight against the likes of the Yamaha Ténéré 700 and Suzuki V-Strom 650, and likely make for an enticing step up from the 650 class of adventure bikes.

The problem with tall bikes is maneuvring them between the cars (changing lane) at traffic lights/junctions and tight basement parking spaces. With very limited lean angle due to short legs, the weight of the bike could be felt even it is tilted a bit. Small radius turn with handle full lock in crowded space is almost impossible. Open space no issue.

Making it worse is that these types of bikes are normally top-heavy and would be flat if they fell on the ground due to the slim and tall design. Unlike the GS with its boxer-twin engine, the bike doesn't need an extra lift before pushing it with your legs.

This is based on my experience of riding an adventure-wannabe bike with no mod. I'm 163cm with a 29" inseam.

I can manage tall bikes if riding solo. There are techniques for that. Problem starts when I add a pillion & luggage. I don't comfortable sliding my ass off the seat to put only 1 foot on the ground when she mounts the bike.

Kalau naik sorang, jatuh bodoh takpe... kalau naik 2 orang jatuh bodoh, habis la bini mengamuk... fobia aku...

There is no guide on Youtube on how to manage tall bikes when riding with pillion & full luggage. Semuanya solo.

Maybe this will help.

I could lift up Versys 650 by myself. But somehow, I couldn't lift up Tenere700 because it is too flat. tongue.gif

Friend's one. We exchange bikes during one of the camping excursions late last year. We gently lie those bikes when he taught me the right way to lift the bike.

Boxer engine bikes might be heavier to lift if they fall flat on the ground due to mass of one sided cylinder is not balance when tilted in stationary position.  But easier to navigate traffic compare to normal 2/4 inline or v-twin bike since the center of gravity low and balanced out especially those newer Liquid cooled engine.

This based on my own experiences.

Thanks for the info.

I'm always under the impression that the bulging boxer engine would create an angle for the bike that makes the bike not completely flat on the ground if it is tipped over. As the bike is already at an angle, all you need is just push the bike with your legs.
