Ya..But, recently I got another mail from them, saying that very sorry about the internal problem of the iPhone preview. They decided to give me RM 50.00 voucher as a apology...Hmm...By the way, what can buy using this RM 50.00 in their shop? Haha..could be another marketing strategy.

Damn.. now everyone knows I'm pro MacAsia *gulps* unsure.gif

FYI, the cube thingy Apple store is located at NYC and there are stairs leading you down underground to their store. If i am not mistaken they have even patented the design of the stairs itself.

I've been to several Apple Stores around the world, including the two in NYC and in my opinion the biggest advantage of these places is not the availability of hardware/accessories but the Genius Bar. Walking in and getting free (and good) advice for your Mac problems is extremely useful.

I think it's easy to sell something particularly Apple products which already has strong brand loyalty. The difficult part that many retailers in Malaysia don't get is customer service.

It's not just the architecture.

The Apple cube store in New York is like a cultural phenomenon.

It's open 24 hours, 7 days a week. Friday nights they lower the lights and bring in DJs to spin music.

There are hundreds of computers for people to use, all connected to super high-speed internet line. Machines range from little Mac Minis up to Mac Pro with 30" cinema display. Use for free as long as you want. Play area for kids with cushions and iMacs with educational software.

Also free wifi for the people who come and sit on the floor with their MacBooks. Download at 10x faster than you'll ever get with Streamyx.

First time I went there I couldn't believe how crowded it was. I did some shoulder surfing and it seems like people from the city have really incorporated the place into their lifestyle. Everyone is in there - students, old people walking with canes, models dressed for the fashion shoot, homeless. On the way across town, they stop in and send a few emails, then go on with the rest of their day. I think it's great marketing for Apple, it really fits their message of digital lifestyle for everyone.

The store has a good strategy for that - no chairs! So you can only survive in there for as long as you can stand on your two legs. Sitting on the floor you'd have to use your own laptop, which they don't mind.

Maybe one day you'll see someone who took the cordless keyboard and mighty mouse and sat on the ground near the 30" cinema display with screen magnification turned on.

Here is what they wrote me in the mail...
Because of this serious oversight, and as a testament to our appreciation of you as our customer, we hope you will accept a small token of appreciation from us. If you can provide us your mailing details, we will like to send you a RM50 cash voucher (no minimum purchase required).

I think no T&C, wait till I receive the voucher then..

huhuhu..i think Apple USA need to clarify this ,as US have their own foreign policy to Asia country like Malaysia .
but i'm still waiting for Apple Store to open their own shop in KL ... yawn.gif

You guys must be pretty young . . . there was an Applecenter in KL yonks ago . . . when it was still the LC2s and LC3s up till a few years after Apple came out with the PowerPC 6100, 7100, 8100s . . .

But like all things Apple, when they almost went bust (during the time when there were actually official Apple clones - I hope you guys actually know this . . .), Applecenter KL closed down.

I guess unlike what most people like to think, nowadays, Apple machines aren't that much in demand when it comes to REAL work machines (in comparison to when Applecenter was still in operation) - a lot of people will say that it is better suited to design blah blah blah. But seriously, the only BIG money that they are earning right now are from the Final Cut Pro, Shake and Motion suites that gets sold - and only because these are Mac-only softwares.

Like a few others who have voiced out here before, I've used Macs since when Photoshop was only version 2, and owned the first generation PowerPC Macs, up till now. I've used PCs extensively as well, and I've also used SGIs for a few years in the past (before they became obsolete).

So I have to say this - please, can all those people who keep saying that Macs are best for design blah blah blah please be less biased? nod.gif
