CKD Elantra already RM120k, what makes you think CBU Elantra can price rm130k with current tax rate on CBU increased so high by roket tm? If Mazda 3 RM160k then Elantra CBU if brought in could be rm150k border. Just look at cheap Kona, price how much already? It's smaller than HRV and supposed to be priced rm10k lower than HRV originally planned CKD at RM90k. Now CBU ended up selling RM135k being rm10k less than Toyota C-HR. Elantra priced higher than Kona so probably around C-HR or higher due to revised tax rate.

They should buy back old cars at good price to boost RV.

The previous generation facelift Elantra that was launched in 2019 was priced at RM 109k, where did you get the RM 120k figure??? The new generation CBU Elantra they are able to priced at around RM 130k because they brought in the 1.6L instead of the 2.0L to keep the taxes low.

It is a bad strategy because 1.6 engine can’t compete with Honda, Toyota or even Mazda. Hyundai Malaysia keep shooting itself on its foot by bringing in lower powered Elantra.

Last time they brought in the higher powered Elantra also nobody buys it what. This time might as well just bring in the lower powered version to keep the cost down. Can’t blame them though, it’s because of our rubbish tax structure on cars.

Some youtuber reviewer said the 1.6l can generate enough horsepower for the weight of this car, unlikely to be underpowered.

They screw up the Elantra line similar like how Kia screw up Cerato. Both should be C segment cars but both distributor keep marketing them as competitor to B segment Honda City and Toyota Vios. That is why now they have difficulty convincing the malaysian public these cars are worthy to be priced higher than 130k and had to bring in lower specs version to keep the price low but its still not low enough like City or Vios.

They themselves don't take in high RV. NASA came up with special good RV plan only if you changed new keeah within 5 years, so the plan failed. They expect people that forked out so much to buy new car to quickly sell off in 5 years and buy another new car when still stuck with loan then take new higher loan fork out more money.

Check Sonata 2.5L price how much first then you'll figure out roughly where elantra 2021 park. New Sonata more expensive than Camry CBU from Thailand, do you really think Elantra 2.0L can park itself near Altis price range? More likely higher than Altis.

Cerato in 2017 priced higher on C segment level. Then they started slashing price of 1.6L RM10k then another rm10k to RM80k competing against vios and city yet failed to sell in numbers. Such a disgrace for C segment 1.6L failed to grab more sales from Vios City. Almera can't fight vios city head on also cut price RM10K to preve level only can sell. Maybe cerato slashed another RM10k can challenge Almari.

If really don't care about rv and want wow factor might as well get mazda 3 sport back
