Well, i've been looking around in car mags and car trade websites that most luxury car can be purchased for cheaper price if you go for AP version.Like Mercedes C200K which could be bought at 170K AP but 220K from authorized dealer.

It seems tempting that you could get a C-Class for the price of Camry, but what bout the warranty ? and are those cars recon ? Most carry the unregistered title but i guess that doesn't proof that its new, right ? Any expert here could give some insight regarding this matter.Deeply appreciated if you do.

AP permit one pcs is cost about RM 60-70k, AP permit only give to imported car. Luxury car like C class, 5 series, estima all that they imported from japan, coz japanese alwiz change car, when reach here, we call it recon set. but it is really in good condition mostly are travel 50k millege. Somemore japan road condition is pretty good if compare to malaysia. I have seen b4 there are thousand of car in the port klang but have no AP to carry out to the market. GOvernment control the AP, and mostly give AP to the malay person.
All the imported car carry in only like below 100k so plus the AP worth 70k then will be 170k cost, but sell to market will be 200k.
For example. Toyota wish from japan only RM 40-50k, reach here plus AP will be 110k. thus they selling 120k-130k, still cheaper than TOyota which is selling 150k.
AP car can be bought, they are like second hand car use by japanese or foreigners. But imagize, japan road condition, japan weather, their service center is pretty good and improved. If possible, try to find millege below 100k one if u going to buy recon car or ap car.

Why there are no AP car to honda jazz, city or toyota vios, becoz they couldnt make margin or profit. just think of one AP permit is cost 60-70k. Eventhough Jazz imported from japan only 20k but reach here plus the AP already cost 90-100k so is the same with our honda dealer. Thus all recon or AP car is only go for luxury car. AP is issue by the government at 50-60k but sell to third party will be 70k. SOme more if chinese wan to get AP, then have to buy from malay. they sell more expensive maybe 80-100k to chinese....sigh.

Besides car.... there are truck and tracker for the construstion site use one in port klang. There are thousand of unit over there waiting AP. Let's say u have route how to get AP then u can cari makan d.

PM me if u would like to know more

Actually AP permit is not that expensive..one pcs only cost u RM45-47k to be accurate..
and you could get the new mini cooper as low as RM20K with the AP..
the real problem is,AP sellers only sell a minimum no of 10pcs AP one time..
so we went to car retailer to sell our APs..its hard to gather 10 buyer one time..

Hi, I just bought a 2nd hand car. The dealer said the car is "kereta import baru" which I saw that in the car's 'geran'. I just wonder does this type of car has AP because whe I tried to ask for the AP the dealer said it is imported new car so no AP required. If the car is imported USED car, then the AP is required. Is that true?

AP cost RM 0, it is a permit. Unscrupulous people hoarding/given these permits assign value to it by selling it for RM 10k or more, The rest of the price (50k .... 70k more than likely is the tax or underdeclared tax). Minimum 5 years old for commercial AP. Personal AP, you can even bring in a 1900s Ford Model T.

New Automotive policy will be announced this week by Mahathir's Son. AP will be set at a price at RM10k, removing at least some easy money from the Unscrupulous people while enriching the gov. coffers

Bring back old post.

Have some question here, friend of mine bought a recon import car 2 years ago. He is the 2nd owner. No issue or whatsover with bank loan (Southern Bank and now CIMB). Due to some financial issue, he decided to sell his car and ask the bank for copy of AP. After 1-2 days the bank called back and said his AP is not submitted when he apply for his loan.

He was pissed off and complaint it is not possible AP was not given cause bank and JPJ WILL NOT approve import car without AP. The bank said they can't do anything and said JPJ or Kastam may have a copy. Now my friend stuck, his car buyer asking for AP to submit loan.

What do you guys think of alternative here? Should he file complaint to Consumer Tribunal about the missing AP?

Refer back to customs/MITI. Submit the chassis number of ur friends car and check the AP. U can ask for another copy coz the original copy will be with the MITI. Best to check with the 1st owner, where he bought.

Btw, AP are just approved permits to import cars. Specifically, the AP document is just the K69 customs application form, and when its signed and permitted by the authorities, then its called Approved Permit, thus AP.

What they call AP cars are just considered as imported cars, which of course is surcharged with tax. There are only a hands full of AP holders, so thats why the price of AP's are roughly 47k-60k, bcoz they just want to control the price. I can get it for cheaper anyway, but thats beside the point. And what the people always fuss about the term "Kereta import terpakai" and "Kereta import baru" is a ridiculous factor to argue with, just check the cars' condition already, if u know about cars, u'll know wether its 'terpakai' or its new. Then u have the right to argue if its not according to what u have speculated.

this AP is actually a problem...

my dad once got conned also... these guys sometimes selling a car without AP (even it is second hand malaysian unit, not recond!!!)... maybe because previous owner know someone big in the JPJ, then he manage to skip the AP process and apply everything as a legal car...

when the owner transfer is done, everything is managed by the seller (e.g 2nd hand car dealer) and we never know what document is not enough as required... loan is approved, geran is obtained...

while paying the installment, everything is perfect.... JPJ never bothered to check the AP, the geran... never had problem renewing road tax. so, we already assume the car is legal and have no problem...

after the loan is paid 100%, the problem will come... u go to JPJ, renew the roadtax, then the darn JPJ said the car dont have AP and have to be confiscated... WTH???? all these years for 5 years already no problem, now you say the car dont have AP and want to confiscate???

i'd rather not discuss the solution... I guess you know what it is...

just sharing what I saw right in front of my eyes... so, if you want to buy those luxury cars you must check on your own all the required documents is there... sometimes the previous owner (or maybe those recond seller) knows how to skip AP and charge you cheaper than other seller...

I thought bank loan for any recond car required the AP to be submitted as part of the loan approval step.

that's why it is really weird how the bank approved the loan without the AP... maybe because the car is malaysian second hand unit, not a recond import...

and how the JPJ close one eye everytime we renew the road tax until the loan is settled...

Thanks, he will ask Miti the correct procedure to get a copy of AP.

Added on March 11, 2010, 12:57 amJust an update, MITI will not keep copy of your AP for more than 5 years of your car registration date in Malaysia. Say if you car register in 2004, MITI will keep your AP until end 2009. 2010 there on, AP will be destroyed (not sure original or photocopy).

My husband bought a 2nd hand imported car from a friend and we paid cash for it. He has driven the car for 3 years now and his friend has driven it for 5 years. His friend took a loan from Public Bank. Now my husband wants to sell the car to a 2nd hand car dealer. But they asked us for a copy of the AP. Unfortunately, we are not aware of the procedure to keep a copy of AP since we paid cash and did not take loan. Also, this is the first time we bought a 2nd hand AP car. We tried asking his friend for the AP, he said he did not have a copy. We also tried asking the car dealer who sold him the car and they said since it is so long ago, they also do not keep one.

Now we are stuck, how do we go about getting this copy of AP to sell the car when MITI only keep AP records for 5 years? We are getting the friend to check with Public Bank (which I doubt they will keep a copy). Anyone has tried checking with JPJ? Hope to hear some good news...if not we really do not know what to do.

I faced the same problem too.... I've been driving my car for 5 years now and the previous owner 2 years. Now I wanna sell my car and my bank said they have no AP in custody, called my dealer ..they said everything was given to the bank (Not that sure whether got AP in it or not). How on earth do they approved my loan last time??????/
I'm stuck... does anyone know what would happen if I go to Kastam and turn out that the my car got no AP? Do I have to pay any penalty or what is the procedure to make it legalised? Please HELP!!!!!!! bare in mind that the car has been in this BolehLand for 7 years now and I paid the installment, roadtax and insurance just like anybody else, yet the buyer's bank ask for the damn AP!!! that one single piece of paper!!!!.

1Malaysia BOLEH!!!!!! 1Malaysia BOLEH!!!!!! 1Malaysia BOLEH!!!!!! 1Malaysia BOLEH!!!!!! 1Malaysia BOLEH!!!!!!
