KUALA LUMPUR: An e-hailing driver's persistence in betting on his vehicles' registration numbers paid off handsomely when he landed RM19 million in winnings from the Toto 4D Jackpot 1 last month.

The 55-year-old man, who hailed from Sarawak, won the July 19 jackpot after betting on the numbers 6570 and 7068, which were the registration numbers of his motorcycle and the first car he owned.He said he had always bet on the number of his old car for sentimental reasons, but had never won before.

He said he let out a scream of joy when he learnt of his win. "I had just got home on a Saturday night after ending my drive. I sat in the car and checked my lottery tickets.

"When I saw the first 4D number matched the second prize, my heart was racing. "But when I saw that my other 4D number matched the first prize, that's when I realised I had won the jackpot and let out a scream," he said. However, he said he had no plans to change careers anytime soon and would continue working as an e-hailing driver. He plans to share his winnings with his wife and children, and begin investing for the future.
