Hi,

Since normal DDR667 price is high like RM145 per piece, I am wondering if I should get the HyperX series.

The question now is value.... With overclockability in mind (motherboard gigabyte P35-DS3), how much can it go? Let's say with longer latency of 5-5-5-15?

Hope experinced users can give some lights here...

If you found review, please share as well.

it depends on wat RAM and wat chipset ur RAM is running on... usually D9, Samsung and Hynix are the best choice... get Crucial from Shawty also not bad... My advice: Don go for Kingston anymore... Kingston can use a walking stick these days... shakehead.gif

Or if u wanna save a couple bucks, get the Normal KVR with Hynix FP-Y5. I've tested them and max OC are :

2.1V, DDR2 1034 5-6-6-12
2.2V, DDR2 1062 5-6-6-12

wow... tat's not saving juz a few bux... tat's half the buck we pay for a HyperX... sweat.gif

personal tests as well

patriot value rams @ rm130 1gb each at ALL IT sect 14 last saturday
Hynix fpy5 rev C Batch 714AA 1gb x2 with same part number can do ddr 938 5-6-6-18  at stock Volts(1.8v) but apparently rev b can do 5-5-5-15 1t at same speeds...or else u can try to find in LYP for mushkin value rams, with d9 chips of course =)

err... i don think Mushkin Value RAMs got D9... at least tat's wat Mushkin told me... it seems tat EM high performance series and above are all D9... hmm.gif

Last weekend I bought 2x 1GB of Kingston Value Ram DDR2-800s (without heatspreader). I forgot to check the chips for details before I stuck on some cheap heatspreaders. But I got them to 900 at stock voltage and timings (5-5-5-15)

System was a E6550 @3.15GHz (7x450) stock voltage on IP-35 mobo.

Hadn't downloaded Orthos yet to do a stability test, but I ran a 10-hour overnight MPEG encoding batch job which maxed out the 2 cores. So I think it's stable enough.

Didn't expect the RAM to go so easily to 900 (wasn't originally planning to OC, so I decided not to splurge on RAM), so will be trying for more in the coming days.

Actually I am ok if I only let me run at 400Mhz, where I can already overclock my C2D into 2.8GHz at 1:1 without any voltage adjustment.

Well, maybe I will overclock the RAM a bit... just to round up the C2D figure into 3.0GHz...  drool.gif

same here... icon_rolleyes.gif

Hmmm.. Yet to able to test my new gaming rig... Now what it lacking is the PSU....  sweat.gif

Do you think I need 600W+ to push the RAM? Or 400W will do?

FYI, I have a 8800GTS 320MB

ooo... if ur GC got single 6-pin connector or don have than u can take my Topower(not the Top detergent tongue.gif ) TOP-600-P5 M2 600W PSU... smile.gif

if u wanna upgrade later on than better take Silverstone OP series 800W... icon_rolleyes.gif
