Hi, Since normal DDR667 price is high like RM145 per piece, I am wondering if I should get the HyperX series. The question now is value.... With overclockability in mind (motherboard gigabyte P35-DS3), how much can it go? Let's say with longer latency of 5-5-5-15? Hope experinced users can give some lights here... If you found review, please share as well. Thanks for reading...

The name is just marketing gimmick oni....using low binned chips found on value rams onli slightly better than value rams. My previous HyperX 800 can only go 1050mhz 5-5-5-15 2.3v. Any higher than 2.4v will coz errors. Not worth the value....just my 2 cents.

Given a choice, u rather get value rams with good OC chips then to get Kingston HyperX coz its just a brand name and also the chips they use cant be OC-ed much, from what i read. Also, like the so called, king of OC, Dominator series... lol(its a joke that it is a king of OC)
THe king of OC for ram at the moment is Crucial bro.. you can ask the best overclockers here... i think they would agree with me too that crucial is DE ram for OC... (correct me if i am wrong)

Thanks for reading... it depends on wat RAM and wat chipset ur RAM is running on... usually D9, Samsung and Hynix are the best choice... get Crucial from Shawty also not bad... My advice: Don go for Kingston anymore... Kingston can use a walking stick these days... QUOTE(rsangel @ Aug 18 2007, 02:06 AM) how about corsair twin xms2 6400 800mhz? Those are just so called performance ram but in reality they aren't really that good. Some value rams with high binned chips like crucial D9xxx rams perform way better. My D9GMH 533 can OC to 1100...more than 100% OC.

Here's some info on the overclockability of the crucial rams (at least for my rams anyway....) 5-5-5-18 @ 2.0v - 1152mhz (pass superPI), 1120mhz (memtest stable) 4-4-4-4 @ 2.1v - 950mhz (memtest stable) Now running at 5-4-4-8 at 2.1v at 1050mhz..... Crucial is not the best ram but I consider it the best value-for-money performance rams....

4-4-4-(4) ? I thought usually the last number is 2 digits, like 10 or 12. AMD platform also can do 4-4-4-4? I'm doing 4-4-4-12 now. Not sure wanna try 4. Cause lazy to clear cmos if cant boot

I've read somewhere that it should be not more than 12 as sometimes the FSB strap comes into play. Don't really know.... Any ram expert can explain the tRAS running at 4 as compared to 8 or 12? Now running at 5-4-4-8. I think the tRAS can go to 4 too but lazy to test for stability again....
