Hot until burn mouth. Room temperature is still ok since it’s still smooth and silky.
Cold one will have rough texture. Anyone who tapao and put into refrigerator will know this. |

Fyi, taufu-fa and taufu/tofu are made by coagulating boiled soya bean juice with white limestone powder solution = there may be long term risk of stones in kidney or gall-bladder for those who often eat them.
In comparison, Japanese egg taufu is coagulated with egg and cheese is coagulating boiled milk with salt = safe to eat. https://eatingrules.com/how-to-make-tofu/ Calcium Chloride is a common coagulant for tofu in North America. It is made by dissolving limestone in hydrochloric or muriatic acid. ... Gypsum (Calcium Sulfate) is the coagulant most widely used in producing Chinese-style tofu. If so, those who sell taufu-fa commercially in Malaysia are likely mostly using gypsum powder, in order to maximize profits, like how commercial car-makers are using smaller and cheaper 3-cylinder tebu engines on compact but still-heavy-weight SUV like the Proton X50. . |

Ok, so why make tau foo fah at home? Tau foo fah is rather expensive now for a small quantity, so better to make at home to really makan kenyang. Also I hv my own personal topping recipe which is Toasted peanuts crushed with Black Sesame Seeds, it's like Muah Chee hybrid with Tau foo Fah and soo yum! Also can make Mapo taufoo! Yes it's abit ma fan hassle but I recently bought a Omega 8226 horizontal slow juicer & with this machine I find it relaxing bcos no loud noise like blender & less squeezing. & this machine can do so many things. About GDL/Gypsum. I hv only used GDL before, but I suspect maybe gypsum gives a slightly better result? But there is a youtube comparing the different coagulant powders. rtk74 liked this post

QUOTE(xianw @ Nov 19 2020, 11:52 PM) Ok, so why make tau foo fah at home? Tau foo fah is rather expensive now for a small quantity, so better to make at home to really makan kenyang. Gypsum will give a slight bitter taste iinmAlso I hv my own personal topping recipe which is Toasted peanuts crushed with Black Sesame Seeds, it's like Muah Chee hybrid with Tau foo Fah and soo yum! |
