Actually quite a few people already foresee this - with precedence like bird flu, SARS, MERS - so those previously affected countries like Hong Kong, Taiwan, China are more prepared, except for US (which was also affected previously).

Many scientists and doctors are predicting the main cause of death in 2050 will be infectious diseases due to us running out of effective antibiotics and antivirals so new vaccine tech and other new tech to fight viruses/bacteria will be needed.

You don't need a crystal ball to project what is likely to happen in the future, and Bill Gates stepped up while the US Govt slacked off under Trump.

Yup, a lot of scientist are predicting such outbreak for quite sometime. Only normal people don't hear much about it and suddenly when Covid19 happens, all sorts of conspiracy theories come out.

There are so many docs and scientist who are researching on pandemic and warning about the dangers of such an outbreak but people just ignore them. We are long due for such an outbreak because the last such major outbreak was way back in the early 20th century.

Nowadays, people live in so near to each others. Lifestocks are reared in unnatural conditions where hundreds are packed in close quarters. All these conditions are perfect for virus to jump to humans through mutations. Another reason is globalisation. Before the pandemic, it is a borderless world and you can easily fly to different countries in a world in a few hours. The risk of pandemic becomes higher as transportation have made it easier to spread.
