QUOTE(ben3003 @ Jul 10 2011, 10:56 PM) Just bought DT231 Pro from Jaben Malaysia, was going to buy ad300 at 1st, but then after tried dt231 pro, i think it sounds much better while it doesnt sacrifice much of the clarity. A very good headphones for that kind of price. May i know what amp should i pair it with? i tried govibe singles and it sounds really good with dt231, but the price is kinda too steep for me >< i am using e5 currently.. before u consider any amp for it...think first...is there anything lacking in the headphones...only then u know what kind of amp u need...different ppl different preference... alos ur genre of music.... |

Have u burned in ur DT231?
At least have arnd 500+ hrs on it...1000 hrs is the best... only then decide if u still need an amp... some 'phones changes drastically after burning in... |

Wahahahahaha.
I guess the temptation was a bit overwhelming for him! hahahaha... i was there to test the SR71B vs Magnum.... I got the magnum instead... SR71B sounds like my Protector...but with extra juice to drive the T1! But since i dun have a T1...magnum with adjustable bass is the btter choice! I wanna test the Predator! Wala bring in the predator oso la! Added on July 17, 2011, 9:45 amSuddenly i wonder... How did u know i met Ikhwan and discuss about the SR71B? QUOTE(ivanswk @ Jul 18 2011, 12:13 PM) mostly slow music, vocal and instrument , prefer warm signature like coming from those tube amp that kinda music...love those singer re - doing the classic, a lot but the current come to my mind at the moment these two http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joanna_Wang http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Susan_Wong thanks i cannot advice on amp pairing... bcoz i m a basshead...and i listen to metal and rock with a lot of screaming... so for my type of music... GoVibe Magnum, RSA Protector, RSA SR71B all sounds nice... but Magnum pairs the best with DT1350 for those kinda music. u could try out Pico, GoVibe PPK or just wait for the GoVibe Porta Tube.... Added on July 18, 2011, 1:00 pm QUOTE(hongrui @ Jul 18 2011, 11:13 AM) After burn in bro...will the sound change a lot?I tested the demo which is not burned in...and i like the bass a lot... will the burn in mellow down the bass? QUOTE(hongrui @ Jul 18 2011, 01:34 PM) hehe on a good day, i hear voices from Jupiter. thanks man!the sound does not change all that much after the first 10-20hours. i don't find the bass mellowing down, but rather getting more layered and textured after burning in. I'm now at 850hours and its a long way to go to get to 1k hours. that'll be my next purchase!!!! or maybe the T5p...now i m in dilemma! Added on July 18, 2011, 7:14 pm QUOTE(0168257061 @ Jul 18 2011, 05:40 PM) That's what i do....with all my IEMs and headphones... only rest about 1-2 hrs daily... if i remember la...else it will continue non-stop... QUOTE(0168257061 @ Jul 18 2011, 07:46 PM) I see, never really know-how to burn but then previously all the headphone i bought so far no problem. Bro...Anyone bought a DT770 80 ohm from me before ? I sold it because the bass made me emo, cant tahan bass made u emo meaning? the sound is very dark issit? QUOTE(hongrui @ Jul 18 2011, 08:00 PM) ya, that's what i did. the longest i went was 24hrs x 5 days. but because of my work, i'm mostly away from the T1 rig, so all that i can do now is to burn in 24hrs x 2days over the weekends. Bro.T1 will reward you if you have an amp that really has got enough power to drive it. otherwise, the T5p is easier to drive and its SQ tuning is also slightly different. How would u rate the T1 vs the DT880... Can the 880 compare even a little bit with the T1? |

QUOTE(0168257061 @ Jul 18 2011, 08:32 PM) DT770 not really dark, ineteresting...but the deep bass , DT770 Pro 80ohm is the strongest in bass monster list. the amount of the bass is just TOO MUCH and made me go maybe la im not bass head, i prefer the 250ohm version better, bass is much more in controlled way i m the opposite of u i think... i love the deep, dark sound from my headphones! i m a basshead after all! QUOTE(hongrui @ Jul 18 2011, 08:50 PM) i did the following review back in Feb '11 and my setup has changed since then, but my conclusions still stand. woah!xxx My setup is as follows: foobar -> d10 -> Ld mkIV (stock power tubes + mullard m8100 drivers) -> T1 / DT880 /600 The Audio Hub's Custom RCA - Mini (double espresso) cable between D10 & LD The Audio Hub's Custom power cord (Apollo) on the LD AC power Enacom tweaked by PcWorks Line Enacom its been 2months since i got my T1 and have been burning it in more or less ever since. To be sort of fair to the DT880 i left it to 'warm up' with the LD amp for 12hrs today before comparing these 2 cans. In comparison, the DT880 is brighter and sounds more analytical. The T1 has smoother treble and i feel that its on the warm side of neutral. The treble on the DT880 is very detailed and airy, but T1's treble is still is more resolving than the DT880's and is far more detailed. The T1's treble is also softer (less bright) than the DT880's but still every much as sparkily as DT880's, if not more. As for the midrange, i fell in love the DT880's when i was first comparing it against the HD650/HD600/D2000/SRH840 and some others. the fullness and transparency of the midrange with my only complaint that it just lacks that touch of warmth to have everything fall in place. the mids is where the T1 shines through for me, it is slightly warmer but adds details and resolving power. it might not be as accurate sounding as the DT880 but i love my warm mids. The bass on both is very similar in terms of texture and layering but the bass on the T1 just has more impact and thus more authoritative sounding. I think there has always been the misconception that the DT880 is a very bass-shy can but i find that the bass is always there in the DT880 when called for. it does not make a violin sound like a cello but when linkin park is pumping through the drivers, the bass is definitely there. The soundstage on the T1 is definitely wider, deeper and more accurate than the DT880, but this doesn't not mean that the DT880's staging is poor, just that the T1 does everything so much better than the DT880. i remember when i first heard the T1, it reminds me very much of the DT880 but it isn't simply just an improved version of the DT880 /600. think of the T1 as a DT800 /600 on steroids. if you like your DT880 but you want smoother treble, warmer mids and (slightly) more bass impact, while improving the soundstaging, the resolving power / details and transparency, look for a T1. thanks for the indepth review bro! really helpful towards my next purchase! |
