How many times are you late to work in a calender year? Your reason for tardiness is irrelevant. Is it chronic enough for your boss to question you for clocking in 1 min late?

That's already chronic if you late 2-3 times a month, every month. Your failure to comply is another issue because I'm sure your boss already told you to improve. If you are not willing to make the necessary sacrifice (leave for work earlier) then I do not think the company should sacrifice moral among all employees because keeping you on board is not fair to others who made the sacrifice to be on time. You have a very lenient boss. Once your tardiness pattern has been identified a show cause letter and then warning letter should've been issued to you. From there your employment is in nobody's but your own hand.

Also as a reminder, tardiness excuse is moot when the underlying problem is self discipline. Or lack thereof
