QUOTE(Harddisk @ Jan 4 2021, 11:22 PM) I think I can live with that. Unplugged since 12pm, I have 48% left now. Had a couple hours break to go for dinner. U mean from hidernate or sleep, not shut down right?Still miles better than my old MBP. Oh, and I just realised, it power up from shutdown if I tap/press on trackpad. I realised even the any key could power it up. It's the standard behaviour since 2018 model. |

QUOTE(Our Store Trading @ Jan 5 2021, 05:07 PM) 8GB unified memory, is it sufficient? I'm currently a window user and want to move to MAC. So seeking your advise. Also went I add 16GB and hard disk to 1TB it almost same price with 2.0GHz Intel Core i5 Quad-Core Processor with Intel Iris Plus Graphics 1TB Storage. So need some advise on choosing. I think u need to do some research regarding the difference between Apple M1 and Intel chipset. Try to understand the core issues, why Apple are moving away from Intel . Both are very different system. It seems like you are trying to compare your Intel Windows PC experience spec into a (whole new M1 chipset) Macbook, which isn't using the same Intel architecture anymore. Rather than trying to make the New M1 to fit your Intel spec, its far more useful to try and understand what's the M1 unified chipset about first. And why the M1 isn't same as Intel. By then, you'd probably better know what you're investing into(not an Intel Architecture). And hopefully learn that Intel has been causing too much trouble for the MacBook performance, heat and battery issues etc. Tips 1: The Apple/Intel conflict history helps you the perspective and clarity you are looking for. Tips 2: You may also find the M1 8gb unified memory act more equivalent to 16GB ram of a standard Intel Laptop. If u r upgrading to unified M1 16GB, that's means u are actually getting more of an equivalent of 32GB ram, Intel laptop. You can find on the YouTube where many reviewers has been testing it's ram capacity and found out it's 8GB unified acts more like a 16GB. Tips 3: Why the M1 8core gpu can play AAA games like Witcher 3, when never before Intel Iris graphic cards could do that? Tips 4: Why the new M1 Processor can play back 4k videos smoothly, when even the highest spec MacBook Pro 16 inch Intel chipset Core i7/i9 couldn't play back without stuttering. Tips 5: Why the Apple M1 able to reach 20 hours of battery life but not Intel i5/i7 MacBooks? This post has been edited by raining again: Jan 6 2021, 02:41 AM |
