QUOTE(akaneikegami @ Jan 5 2021, 02:48 PM) 8GB unified memory, is it sufficient? I'm currently a window user and want to move to MAC. So seeking your advise. Also went I add 16GB and hard disk to 1TB it almost same price with 2.0GHz Intel Core i5 Quad-Core Processor with Intel Iris Plus Graphics 1TB Storage. So need some advise on choosing. QUOTE(raining again @ Jan 6 2021, 02:26 AM) I think u need to do some research regarding the difference between Apple M1 and Intel chipset. Try to understand the core issues, why Apple are moving away from Intel . Both are very different system. Thank you so much. Yes I did several research and found the M1 is better than Intel and upgrading to 16GB memory is waste of money because more or less it’s the same based on several stress or memory test done on YouTube. I’m clear now. Thank you. It seems like you are trying to compare your Intel Windows PC experience spec into a (whole new M1 chipset) Macbook, which isn't using the same Intel architecture anymore. Rather than trying to make the New M1 to fit your Intel spec, its far more useful to try and understand what's the M1 unified chipset about first. And why the M1 isn't same as Intel. By then, you'd probably better know what you're investing into(not an Intel Architecture). And hopefully learn that Intel has been causing too much trouble for the MacBook performance, heat and battery issues etc. Tips 1: The Apple/Intel conflict history helps you the perspective and clarity you are looking for. :cool2: Tips 2: You may also find the M1 8gb unified memory act more equivalent to 16GB ram of a standard Intel Laptop. If u r upgrading to unified M1 16GB, that's means u are actually getting more of an equivalent of 32GB ram, Intel laptop. You can find on the YouTube where many reviewers has been testing it's ram capacity and found out it's 8GB unified acts more like a 16GB. Tips 3: Why the M1 8core gpu can play AAA games like Witcher 3, when never before Intel Iris graphic cards could do that? Tips 4: Why the new M1 Processor can play back 4k videos smoothly, when even the highest spec MacBook Pro 16 inch Intel chipset Core i7/i9 couldn't play back without stuttering. Tips 5: Why the Apple M1 able to reach 20 hours of battery life but not Intel i5/i7 MacBooks? raining again liked this post

QUOTE(andrewtho @ Jan 6 2021, 08:51 AM) For most users, 8GB unified memory is sufficient. 16GB is fine, if you have the additional budget and plan to have an ease of mind without worrying about bottlenecks. That’s right, since education store is there so it has RM100 off to add memory. So still considering. Thank you. Now you can buy your new M1 Macbook with ease. |

QUOTE(prime27 @ Jan 8 2021, 07:16 PM) I ordered on 10th Dec, payment deducted on 29th Dec That’s so late. Mine deducted next day after order. I only upgrade memory. My estimated delivery date was between 12th to 19th Jan. Shipped from Shanghai on 5th, arrived KL today morning. I expect today or tomorrow shall receive it, but when I ask DHL, she said follow Apple's email which is 15th That's why I feel weird, , from KL to my place JB cost 7 days :ranting: Yes, I still possess student card, which still looks pretty valid :hmm: |

QUOTE(Ashroft98 @ Feb 4 2021, 06:43 PM) MBP 16/512 As I know, it won't transit at SG. Normally in HK but it won't update in DHL tracking due to they policy. All Apple Shipment, will only update Pickup and once reach destination. In between updates, will not appeared in their website.24/1 Ordered (ETA 8-16th Feb) 1/2 Card Charged 2/2 Preparing To Ship 3/2 Shipped (ETA 11th Feb) Now in the tracking website still only shows “shipment picked up” at Shanghai. It also shows next destination as KL - Malaysia. Means no need to transit at S’pore first? Ashroft98 liked this post

Hello, What is the best way to buy AppleCare for MacBook Pro? I can't get it directly from Apple Official website. The cost always on USD. Any advise?
