Depend what u r using for. Im on heavy office workloads, no gaming, mild to moderate video and photo editting. Been using my M1MBA since January on daily basis, never had heat throttling issue.

Are you using 8gb or 16gb ram?

16GB RAM.
8GB is too basic, dont recommend on this setup at all, unless you're university student mainly use for light assignments.

now i am thinking whether to get the

imac base spec upgrade to 16gb
or
imac mid spec 8gb

i came from a 2012 rMBP 16gb haha, which is still working till today...

i dont do much heavy computing these days, mainly to browse the web and watch movies and the occasional photo editing

Hey guys, i'm deciding whether to get a unit of MBA or MBP.. the only factor pulling me away from MBP is the fact that I'm afraid MBA overheats due to the fanless system..

Anyone here using their MBA as their main working machine while connecting to 2 extra monitors while doing coding work & normal browsing + documentation? Will MBA be able to handle it without throttling?

Appreciate any sifu with advices biggrin.gif
Thanks guys

just get the macbook pro, you get a brighter screen, and clearer speaker (though slightly softer), 8 cores GPU too... but M1 natively only can output 1 monitor yeah, unless u get a displaylink dock...

why dont u get the mac mini perhaps?

Hello all,
Student vs Normal
Whats the difference other than the price please?
Seems like anyone can easily buy with education price now?

no difference, it is just a matter of honesty

Hi guys, need some advice over here.

I thinking to grab MBP M1 need some advice on my usage.

Mostly use for paperwork, basic photo editing (PS & AI), watching movie, music.

I guess won't go for gaming at anytime now.

So I was thinking do I need to get 16GB ram for 256GB model?
Storage wise I think if there is a need, I can always look for external hard-disk right?

Sorry for noob question, this will be my first MBP, am previous Window user.

Yes.. 16GB is good for future proofing, if you use it for more than 5 years, that RM800 extra is kacang putih in terms of installment brows.gif brows.gif

Storage can go for external SSD, unless u intend to install many things... if not any ssd that can read / write at 500MBps is more than enough for photo editing...
