I'm using Viewsonic VX3276-2K-mhd with my Mac mini. Should be no problem with the MBA. If I have time I'll hook it up to double confirm.

Thanks man, I've never thought buying a monitor for Mac could be so daunting unlike buying for Windows machines - especially for M1, there's a lot of discussions about its incompatibility, fonts get blurry etc.

For me buying this RM5k machine comes with many headache.

Nope. I always manually plug out the cable when it reach 80% and only charge it when it is in 20-30% range.
My battery is bad maybe bcoz I use too many Intel app like spotify, Back Up and Sync and other printers app runnning in the background.
I have uninstalled all intel app except Back Up and Sync.
Now, I use Beta release spotify that is native M1 chip.
I hope it is not worsen after this.

My suspicion is your charging behaviour has led to battery degradation - if you use your MacBook like an iPhone then its battery will be similar like one.

Mine is at 7-month mark but battery is still 100% capacity, cycle count 28. I rarely plug it out and I use it with a monitor; hence.

It's highly unlikely that Rosetta has degraded your battery like that. In fact, M1 chips were optimised for that.

Thanks everyone! I've just ordered myself the 16/256GB 7-core version.

Anyways, i'm looking at the option of putting thermal pads on the heat sink. Has anyone here tried this before?

Should've gotten the 8-core version if you were to BTO it with 16GB RAM.

7-core versions are binned version of its 8-core counterparts. The binned part says it all.

oh wow, guess I'm going to try doing so as well.. just leave it plugged in all the time as I'm planning to use it with a monitor and external keyboard and mouse like a desktop.

I was experimenting too actually. Eventually your Mac will show "Rarely used on battery"

But before that happens, the system will learn your charging behaviours by decharge until like 95% before it charges again. After a week or so without charging, it only displays "Rarely used on battery" until the next time it's on battery.

Anker Power Expand+ https://shopee.com.my/product/148120148/625...16-1628098611.9
vs
UGreen

Im looking for long term use and preferably not hot to touch and reliable. If you guys have any recommendation do let me know too.

Also does PD work nicely now does iit still brick laptops?

Asking for my MBP M1

Apple actually released a macOS update in February '21 to prevent hubs from bricking the M1s.
