If u need to borrow to do things perhaps you should reconsider whether it was within your means or not. Lada Putih, corallinkz, and 14 others liked this post

i would work on the painting, plaster ceiling, lightings and flooring. kalau dah ada basic furniture pakai je dulu, you wont know if you're really staying in that house long term or renting it out. would be a waste if you will eventually rent out with high end stuffs.

Don't take loans.
Rumah kosong sangat, that's the reason why you want to renovate? But pocket kosong? OMG. Bruhhh. Your house is already beautiful. It's Covid19 year, take advantage of the situation. Nobody is going to your house (no house warming, birthdays, whatever) and comment about it how kosong your house is. In fact, if you love organising gatherings, it is good that your house is empty. Minimalist is also a concept too tho. Easy to clean. Less shelves to be wiped. Save time. Buy everything in cash. From your phone, to your lamps, to your kitchen cabinet, to your bedroom sets, everything. Perhaps this month, you can buy the lamps first, the next month maybe you can get, a dining table, for example. |

Grille since its landed make sure the padlock ears hard to cut n grille can consider making from solid steel flat bar with narrow gapping (that car jack cannot spoil your grille silently) if design unrestricted.
Also secure the tnb meter and fuse, usually these go missing. This post has been edited by ceo684: Nov 8 2020, 01:36 PM |

if it's g&g community, no need to do anything. no need to install grill too. my two house inside g&g I didn't even bother to install grill the whole house. just put cctv & some alarm & done. the rest of equipments like TV, fan, aircond, lighting, etc I bought in stages after saving up. rumah nampak kosong lagi Best, don't care what others will say about ur own house bro.

QUOTE(NotYourKuda @ Nov 8 2020, 04:38 PM) Hutang 35 years bang 🤦🏻♂️ Looking for a 200k apartment only actually. My mom die die want me buy a landed house and she's kinda old already. Before anything happen, i have to buy one. Takut tak sempat nanti. as long as you think it's within your financial level, okay aje.. *tutup mata*.since it's a family house (with your mom and all) - maksudnya if possible basic reno is needed : - grille. - electrical (sockets, lighting, fans, aircond). - kitchen cabinet. other stuff (not really reno) : - curtains/blinds. - deposit for water/electrical/phone/wifi. - etc. otherwise lagi susah if you want to reno only when you have the money. |

Don't take a loan bro for reno, incrementally furnish your house as necessary. It looks good enough as is. And keep the parquets. Tiles are cold, parquets give a better warmer feeling when you step on them first thing in the morning.

QUOTE(NotYourKuda @ Nov 8 2020, 12:37 PM) Yeah. It took some time to save. That's why I only own a house at 36 unlike other people. I hate seeing house like rumah bujang like most of my friend's houses. I rather rent a house a furnish them than own an empty house. And in my case 20k only gets me wardrobe and few units of ceiling fans. This post has been edited by blanket84: Nov 8 2020, 06:04 PM |

for those saying 20k is enough for renovation the whole house, clearly are clueless in terms of house renovation. u need at least 100k if u want to have the whole house renovation and that's not including the furnitures.
btw, epf2 withdrawal does not cover house renovation. only for house purchasing. |

I've just refreshed my parents' house whole DB box after 25 years (since 1995), coz after many decades of use the components may age out. The old ABB from 1995 still working great, so keep as emergency spares. |

Browse around FB and Insta for total packages that include wardrobes (3 bedrooms), kitchen cabinets, tv cabinets, etc. Depending on the size of your kitchen, you could get all these within 20k. but that's just it.. no furnitures.
Search google for renovation packages, kitchen cabinet packages 2020 or something along that line, and many sponsored ads will appear in your FB. Go from there.. one that popped on my feeds is this one https://azrdesign.com/promosi-kabinet-satu-...EAaAukZEALw_wcB within your budget too.. previously where do you live? don't have furniture that you can transfer to your new house kaa??? that'll save you a lot broo..fridge, tv, dining table, sofa, airconds, etc.. Also, my advise is like the others.. start building up one by one.. don't splurge your whole cash into your house, especially in this dire times.. Covid lah, ekonomi not stable, etc.. |

What's the point of getting a higher commitment every month just to fill the house up? Best for you to list the priorities. The rest just do it incrementally. This is also to avoid impulse buying. If you have time go watch Ein Edruce vlog about her house renovation. Good advise there.

Thing is, does TS meant by "Renovating" as in, renovating like extension, wall hacking, change layout, add third/fourth floor, do swimming pool?? or just to fill empty spaces with furnitures, so it wont feel empty?? didnt say also what kind of renovation want to do.. landed house used up to 250k ( front/back/side extension double storey), not including the furnitures and fittings. if the former, of coz la 20k tak cukup.. but if just to add cabinets here and there, should be ok i guess, subject to the house size la and the size of cabinets.. |

QUOTE(DigitalMop @ Nov 9 2020, 10:04 AM) everyone say 20k is enough, i bet they never renovate landed house b4, at least 100k is used for renovation wei, 20k not even enough for condo Erm, TS mentioned he only has 20k in hand. We are advising him not to spend beyond his means.Simple grilles and some basic essentials should not go over 20k. If you really have the cash, you can even knock the whole house over and start over from scratch. |

QUOTE(NotYourKuda @ Nov 9 2020, 08:23 AM) Youtube je. Actually not that hard with the right tools but always a rush to complete all the noisy drilling and grinding work within 9am-1am on Saturdays (restricted hours). And because need to start early on Saturdays there goes all the Fri nights, just sleep early on Fri after work. But the convenience is there as DIY always available, whereas getting contractor to do small job they all don't want to come. Then went to do small job for neighbours (drill curtain rod/picture frame/TV bracket/clothes rack holes were the most popular ones) so got a bit of extra cash to cover the tool costs. When I was in college already painted the whole house before reselling, its not that hard to paint but you will need a proper ladder. This post has been edited by ceo684: Nov 9 2020, 08:38 PM |

Good motivation, try to impress aunty with your home reno ke? take it from me , a mature guy with multiple landed residentail properties. Its a huge hassle to do renovation after you have already shifted into the house. imagine a horde of contractors tramping around your house and dirtying it for weeks and months on end, while you are staying there? you need to constantly accomodate them and clean up after them. my advise: get the major renovations done BEFORE you shift in . take a loan if you must , after all interest rates are at an all time low now. |

QUOTE(the bro of blanco @ Nov 12 2020, 12:41 PM) TS dont listen to these young morons. Well as "a mature guy with multiple landed residentail properties" maybe you should advise TS on which renovations actually add value to a property and which do not.take it from me , a mature guy with multiple landed residentail properties. Edit: also since you have so many houses, just move into another one or stay at a hotel during renovation, apa susah? This post has been edited by loserguy: Nov 12 2020, 12:52 PM |
