This is true. I am currently in the process of renovating/furnishing my house and the bill come close to 150k and counting. All I do is pretty much basic stuff like plaster ceiling, kitchen cabinet, wardrobe, aircond, lighting & etc.

Pasang autogate, grill, tangki air and pump (if needed), cabinet dapur.
Thats what we did when we moved in 3 years ago.

Grille since its landed make sure the padlock ears hard to cut n grille can consider making from solid steel flat bar with narrow gapping (that car jack cannot spoil your grille silently) if design unrestricted.

Also secure the tnb meter and fuse, usually these go missing.

since it's a family house (with your mom and all) - maksudnya if possible basic reno is needed :

- grille.
- electrical (sockets, lighting, fans, aircond).
- kitchen cabinet.

other stuff (not really reno) :

- curtains/blinds.
- deposit for water/electrical/phone/wifi.
- etc.

otherwise lagi susah if you want to reno only when you have the money.

Don't take a loan bro for reno, incrementally furnish your house as necessary. It looks good enough as is. And keep the parquets. Tiles are cold, parquets give a better warmer feeling when you step on them first thing in the morning.

grills, fans, lights all around first, then curtain rods/rails, install curtains...have the basic things first then you can slowly do things....no need to renovate la..

Yeah. It took some time to save. That's why I only own a house at 36 unlike other people. I hate seeing house like rumah bujang like most of my friend's houses. I rather rent a house a furnish them than own an empty house.

And in my case 20k only gets me wardrobe and few units of ceiling fans.
