The anime was gay. Ask any Dragon Ball manga fan on the internet and they will tell you the same thing. Freaking hated the GT storyline too.
And funny to see how the "dragon ball" effect has on other manga. Even if ur dead, you can be revived. Case of fact, the Gantz Ball.
Oh on another thing, Toriyama won't be doing other manga title except Neko Majin Z. He's too old and wants to spend more time with his family. He will do some extra works like Dragon Quest's design but those will be one off and rare intances only

Now i have a question

What happened to Goku at the end of DBGT? He gets onto Shen Long back and heads off somewhere. Vegita and Turtle Head knows something.

So what is it? Officially? or any speculation or rumor?

GT never had been a part of the real Dargon Ball world as Toriyama wants it. Toriyama never had anything to do with GT. The real ending for Dragon Ball was Goku left training with Buu UUB. GT was so unpopular in japan that they ended up ending it abruptly

Why people hate it? Well everything does not make sense anymore. tongue.gif The people that bought the franchise just want to milk every cent out of the title. For starter, GT is retelling the whole damn story again when Goku was a child. Not to mention the ridiculous transformation. KingKong/Saiyan hybrid. How cool can that be? tongue.gif

IMO, the whole series went haywire after the Cell Saga. The story after the Cell Saga should be centered around Gohan, which is the original intention. But after they start to fight Buu, Goku was brought back to the stage and Gohan was pushed to the background. tongue.gif

Seeing how Death Note movies and few others anime/manga -> real-life movie, I guess its not harm to post this again outside of Movies section (since now we're not a part of it anymore lulz)

Hollywood studio plans movie based on Japanese comic book series 'Dragonball'

HONG KONG (AP) -- Hollywood studio Twentieth Century Fox plans to make a movie version of the popular Japanese comic book series "Dragonball" -- with help from a famed filmmaker from Hong Kong, where Japanese comics and animation are popular.

Fox said in a statement issued Wednesday in Hong Kong that local comedian Stephen Chow will produce the live action movie "Dragonball" and James Wong, a former writer for the TV series "The X-Files" and director of "Final Destination," will direct.

Chow's credits include "Shaolin Soccer" and "Kung Fu Hustle."

Fox said Justin Chatwin, who played the son of Tom Cruise's character in "War of the Worlds," will portray the lead character Goku and James Marsters is cast as Goku's main enemy, Piccolo.

Marsters played the vampire Spike on the TV series "Buffy the Vampire Slayer."

"Dragonball" revolves around Goku's quest to protect Earth from evil forces who want to take over the planet and control mystical objects known as "dragonballs."

Fox said the film, whose budget was not announced, will start shooting later this year and will be released worldwide on Aug. 15, 2008.

While I liked Dragon Ball before but I was never a die hard fan. I had a poster before but that was a free stuff I got from someone. I didn't collect any kind of the said cards. By the time the manga finished and the anime starting to show at Metrovision in Cantonese, I have already moved on to other kind of affection.

Stephen Chow Sing Chi will be producing a live-action version of famed Japanese anime, "Dragon Ball" in Hollywood. The movie will be funded by Twentieth Century Fox studios. Although the movie has not started filming yet, the USA release date has been slated for August 15, 2008, which will capture the summer audience.

James Wong will be directing the movie. Cast members include Justin Chatwin and James Marsters. Justin will play the lead role, Son Goku.

Combining Western and Eastern talents, what will result in Stephen Chow's "Dragon Ball?"
Will it do justice to Akira Toriyama's famed manga and anime classic?

Other cast members have not been confirmed yet. But it was widely speculated that Stephen may choose to employ artists under his production company, such as Zhang Yuqi. In an interview yesterday, Stephen also said that he would like to cast Edison Chen Kuen Hei in the movie as well. However, the final casting choices will be determined by Director James Wong.

The script has not been revealed yet. Will Stephen's movie focus on the quest of the 7 dragon balls and Son Goku's battle with the universe's greatest martial artist? Or will it center around "Dragonball Z's" plot, where Son Goku defends Earth against various super villains? Undoubtedly, the live-action version of "Dragon Ball" will be highly anticipated among manga and anime fans!

In 2004, when Stephen promoted "Kung Fu Hustle" in Japan, he admitted he was a great fan of "Dragon Ball." Also, at the end of "Kung Fu Hustle," Stephen's character utilized a fighting style reminiscent of Son Goku's trademark style in "Dragon Ball."

Chung goes live with 'Dragonball'

user posted image

user posted image

Jamie Chung has joined Justin Chatwin and James Marsters in Fox's "Dragonball," the live-action adaptation of the popular Japanese comic.

James Wong is directing the science fiction action-adventure, which centers on an adult humanoid alien named Goku (Chatwin) who, after discovering he was sent to Earth to destroy the population, tries to fulfill the wish of his dying grandfather and collect all seven of the world's mystical Dragon Balls to keep them out of the hands of the evil aliens.

Chung will play Chi Chi, the love interest of Goku when he's growing up.

Marsters ("Buffy, the Vampire Slayer") plays the evil Piccolo, who tries to take over the world.

"Dragonball," which is being produced by Stephen Chow, is one of the most successful Japanese cultural exports of all time.

Created by Akira Toriyama and published by Tokyo's Jump Comics, the manga was adapted into graphic novels, video games and a successful television series that ran in Europe, Asia, Latin America and North America.

Chung, whose credits include ABC's "Samurai Girl" and "Greek," is repped by Gersh and Kritzer/Levine/Wilkins Entertainment.

Just hope they don't spoil it. Hongkie directors already failed big-time with Street Fighter and Tekken. Now its DBZ and King of fighters...I pretty much expect the same to happen, just that at least the dbz director is not the one who did street fighter and tekken adaptations, hopefully stephen chow can pull something big.

Son Goku pic is obviously Photoshopped... If you look closely at both arms... Same arm and hair patterns. Odd metal accessories at his hands. Too obvious liao lah...

Piccolo's body costume looks very odd... terribly odd...

Randall Duk Kim to Play Dragonball's Grandpa Gohan

user posted image

Randall Duk Kim, the actor best known for playing The Keymaker in The Matrix Reloaded, announced on his website that he will play Gohan in Twentieth Century Fox's live-action adaptation of Akira Toriyama's Dragon Ball manga. Kim will also voice a character named Oogway in DreamWorks Animation's Kung-Fu Panda computer-graphics film. Kim's Gohan character raised the main character Goku (Justin Chatwin) in the manga, and is not to be confused with Goku's more famous son of the same name.

In a separate development, the TV Guide magazine has interviewed actor James Marsters (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) about his return to the Smallville television series as Brainiac and his anti-hero role of Lord Piccolo in the Dragon Ball movie. Marsters says, "I've been told I'm working for people who will just flay me alive if I give too much information, but what I can tell you is the character is green, bald, and has pointed ears. Heroic wouldn't be the wrong term by the end, but it's a long journey."

In addition to Chatwin, Marsters, and Kim, the cast includes Emmy Rossum (The Phantom of the Opera film, The Day After Tomorrow) as Bulma, Eriko Tamura (Heroes) as Mai, Jamie Chung (The Real World) as Chi Chi, Joon Park (Speed Racer) as Yamcha, and Chow Yun-Fat (A Better Tomorrow, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End) as Master Roshi. Shooting has begun in Mexico City, and the studio is planning for an August 15 release.

Dragonball live-action movie is pushed back to April 2009 sad.gif

Dragonball Movie Reportedly Pushed Back to April 2009

The ComingSoon.net film news website reports that the Twentieth Century Fox production company has delayed the live-action Dragonball movie's opening from August 15, 2008 to April 3, 2009. The website notes that The International, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Tropic Thunder and Wild Child are all scheduled to open on August 15 in North America. No other film has been pegged for Dragonball's new date. The Dragonball movie adapts Akira Toriyama's fighting manga of the same name. Director James Wong (Final Destination, X-Files television series, The One) has been shooting the film in Mexico since late last year, and Stephen Chow, the actor and director behind Kung Fu Hustle and Shaolin Soccer, signed on as a producer.

The cast includes Justin Chatwin (War of the Worlds, The Invisible) as Goku, Emmy Rossum (The Phantom of the Opera film, The Day After Tomorrow) as Bulma, James Marsters (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Smallville) as Piccolo, Eriko Tamura (Heroes) as Mai, Jamie Chung (The Real World) as Chi Chi, Joon Park (Speed Racer) as Yamcha, Randall Duk Kim as Grandpa Gohan, Ernie Hudson (Ghostbusters), and Chow Yun-Fat (A Better Tomorrow, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End) as Master Roshi.

Live-Action Dragonball's April 3, 2009 Date Confirmed

The Fox Moves website has confirmed the new April 3, 2009 opening date in North America for James Wong's live-action film adaptation of Akira Toriyama's Dragonball fighting manga. Also, the CanMag website quotes producer Stephen Chow (Shaolin Soccer, Kung Fu Hustle, CJ7) as saying that he will not make a cameo within the film. He adds, "My contribution is mainly in the screenwriting department, giving them input and suggestions in the screenplay and other aspects."

Looks bad..really bad. At least they should make the costume more realistic, everything got a sc-fi battle star galactica look to it. If an asian directs this it would be way better.. Just imagine Kungfu Hustle or Shaolin Soccer director doing the job. It would probably looks 10 times better using half amount of the money.

OMG after seeing all the pictures from the scene, im very very disappointed, i also have a bad feeling that this movie will not turn out as we wanted, very sad cry.gif cry.gif was looking forward to this movie

and wth all the actor and actress doesnt really suit the actual DB manga (although we all know the fact that it might be actually b hard to really imitate the scene from the DB manga and bring it out into the movie - how the heck they goin to make the fighting scene like the one in the manga that all of us love so much in - i doubt if they were to do with CG also it might look vy artificial, look for example the shirt of all the picolo, looks weird hmm.gif )

looks like its goin to be a failure doh.gif

hope we all might cross our finger and hope for the best in 2009

how can the CG make the famous fighting scene of DB?

the famous fighting scene was kick opponent up the sky, the fly up punch him from the back..the opponent will crash few mountains.

I don't think they can make this

First Peek at Dragonball's Goku

Both DBtheMovie and the Dragon Ball Movie Blog alerted us to this scan taken from a Japanese magazine showing the first image of Justin Chatwin as Goku in Fox's Dragonball movie. Written and directed by James Wong, the big screen adaptation is scheduled for an April 10, 2009 release. James Marsters, Jamie Chung, Emmy Rossum, Eriko Tamura, Joon Park, Chow Yun-Fat, Texas Battle, Randall Duk Kim and Ernie Hudson co-star.

everyones looking forward to this movie, but most people dont want their childhood memoris of this awesometastic show get tainted by this live action which will most probably be a letdown.

so, better diss the movie and reject it before it comes out than having to go through the agony of watching what just might be an insult to those wonderful days of teh tru dragonball.

Stephen Chow also made bombed out movies so his record is rather mixed. I do have some serious reservations about this.

I can't believe they will actually do a DB live action movie. I mean, I don't wanna be disappointed cuz I've been reading DB manga since I was a kid. Don't know how the movie will turn out.....

I think it's better if they do it in CGI =_=;;

I started off with DBZ in English.... back in the days of "video tapes".
Anyone here remember the era of video tapes? The 80s and 90s were awesome rclxm9.gif

I *almost* had all of the movies, from Movie 1 - 13 biggrin.gif --> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Drago...ve-action_movie
Some I had in Japanese, didn't know what they were talking about back then, just enjoy the fighting scenes and Hironobu Kageyama songs biggrin.gif

These days... I'm just reminiscing those moments off Youtube and such tongue.gif

Found this on the net about the storyline.

The hero of DragonBall, Son Goku, will be played by up and coming actor Justin Chatiwn. He recently starred in Steven Spielbergs War of the Worlds as well as The Invisible. According to the character descriptions, Goku is considered uncool and unpopular at school, but he is in fact an extremely talented martial arts fighter who gets rigorous training from his grandfather, Gohan.

The role of Gokus school friend Teto is being played by Mexican actor Luis Arrieta. A relatively minor role, but important because he is rumored to be a replacement for Krillin who has not yet been mentioned in anything relating to the movie. Teto is picked on by Carey Fuller and Aguandas until Goku steps in and helps his friend.

But I think there might still be hope for this movie, dun forget Stephen Chow is one of the producer behind it.

He is a great DB fan himself so i dun think he will let it flop badly.

Dragonball Trailer Coming in October

ComingSoon.net has learned that 20th Century Fox will debut the first trailer for Dragonball in theaters on October 17. We'll have to wait and see whether Fox will release the trailer online earlier that week.

Opening on April 10, Dragonball is written/directed by James Wong and stars Justin Chatwin, James Marsters, Jamie Chung, Emmy Rossum, Eriko Tamura, Joon Park, Chow Yun-Fat, Texas Battle, Randall Duk Kim and Ernie Hudson.

Dragonball is adapted from the manga created by Akira Toriyama; the work was also turned into a Japanese anime series that played all over the world.

Wasn't there gonna be a live-action japanese movie of Dragonball? i hate to be disapointed but speed racer was ok even though the Wachowski brothers had made a few errors to almost ruin a good anime-based movie. Hopefully things are done right if they wanted to recreate the Dragonball story the hollywood way if they manage to pull it off but otherwise...be ready to be dissappointed

by the way this shouldn't be Dragon Ball... it should be... Dragon Ball Wanna Be Movie...
or to make the Movie sounds more interesting... it should be
"Life After Dragon Ball"... by angmoh ppl... (damn...)

They try to make the movie according to their style as other hollywood movie and make people forget that dragon ball is from japan. That's American.

QUOTE
No Trailer with Max Payne

Our friends at DB Legends talked with Fox about the status of the trailer and if a different one would be shown with Max Payne. As it turns out, the trailer that was leaked was not meant to be shown to the public, and they were working on a better one that was scheduled to be shown with Max Payne. But because the film’s special effects are still not done, it has been delayed until later this year.

QUOTE
First off, we love your enthusiasm for the film. We are so sorry to ask that you remove the content. It is not meant to irritate or discourage you and your readers from following this film campaign. It’s just that the pieces of content that are being leaked were not created to be used this way. They were only meant to be shown to potential Licensing & Merchandising partners who need to make partnering decisions far in advance of release date, and the content has not been approved for online use. Elements like music clearances and even talent approvals have not been pursued because we had no intention of having this go online. Alot goes into a trailer or video being authorized for online use….

We had hoped to have a really kick-ass trailer done by MAX PAYNE’s in-theater date, but because alot of effects shots are still being worked on - we’ve decided to wait until there is more material to work with, so we can really “wow” you and the fans. This is not uncommon for a film that still has 6 months until it goes in theaters. It looks like the real trailer will be released a little later in the year.

Again, thanks for all your interest. I am happy to update you when we get new artwork and approved video to distribute. We appreciate you removing the content, and don’t mean to cause you any headaches with your readers biggrin.gif

Upcoming Promotion
Promotion for Dragonball has been scarce so far, but luckily, according to Fox, promotion will start to take off soon. Thanks to DBLegends for the interview.

QUOTE
1. When will promotion for the film Dragonball officially begin and what can we expect?
Promotion will truly begin when we launch the official trailer. Expect to see plenty of TV spots and action closer to the release. This is typical with any campaign. The fans will really feel the promotion of the movie to begin by the end of the year and will be promoted at many targeted events in 2009.

2. A Junior Novel and Video Game have been confirmed. Any other possible merchandise? Maybe a TV spin off or new comic series?
Currently could not be answered, hopefully they will get back to me on this.

3. There has been a rumor going around that the sequel to this film will begin filming in the first quarter of 2009. Any truth to this?
There is no news on a sequel just yet. We tend to wait out and see how the initial film does and if sequels can be financed.

4. How reliant is this film on visual effects? Is the majority of the money going towards CGI (such as cities, fight scenes, etc.)?
There will be a lot of amazing effects and yes.

5. How would you compare the official trailer that releases later this year to the teaser that was shown during the licensing expo?
I am told the trailer will be different. That piece didn’t portray enough energy, so it wasn’t really reflective of the full feature. It was intended to show the look of some elements for L&M purposes, and to introduce some characters to those people. The L&M piece didn’t showcase the hard-core action that the film will offer, but the trailer will.

We’ve also gotten news on upcoming publicity shots. Hopefully they’ll be released soon, but for the moment here are some descriptions of the shots that I’m allowed to share.

Goku is sitting sideways on a (non-moving) type of bike/buggy. I’m not sure if it is a three or four wheeler, but there are two wheels at the front, it looks all mean and futuristic and most importantly, it’s dusty and needs a good wash.

Goku is chomping into what looks to be a turkey drumstick. Either that or it’s a gigantic chicken drumstick. He’s wearing his grey-black jacket and dark trousers and it’s in a street setting.

In a fight scene with Goku it appears that Piccolo’s ribbed armor is strapped on around his sides. He has strange black leather gloves on and a long sword with a square, not pointed end. Around his collar is quite a bit of black braid and brocade.

In all the photos of Piccolo I’ve seen so far, he isn’t green. But in the details ones he looks like he has moss forming in his crevices, so he does have a green tinge.

Over his ribbed armor, Piccolo wears a full length hooded cloak, which is the dark browny crimson color as seen in the trailer. It has a rich texture, it looks very exotic and has rows of Sequined circles up the front panels. Extremely nice and billowy.

When Piccolo does swirly things it is revealed that he has striped panels of dark velvety pink at the back of his cloak.

Overall, I’d say he looks like a modern, darker version of Piccolo from the show. But with a bad case of black ear wax and a much better cloak.

New Trailer Date

DBLegends just got word from Fox that their new target date for the theatrical trailer is December 12th, 2008. The Day The Earth Stood Still premieres on December 12th from 20th Century Fox, so we are assuming the trailer will be attached with it (although that isn’t confirmed).

First Dragonball Review?

Aint it Cool News reader Don sent in a review for a supposed early cut of the film. It contains spoilers if legitimate, but honestly it sounds like something anyone could have made up

QUOTE
I am a huge fan of your site and constantly visit here but this will be my first time emailing you about something. I love geek movies because there is nothing better than a well made geek movie. Well after watching the 95-100 minutes (excluding credits) of the movie i say this movie was solid. Ya you heard that right. I simply love the anime but I was very very nervous about it being made by fox. After all the studio has been making nothing but shit lately. Another reason why I was worried about this movie is that the director is James Wong who made final destination 1 & 3 and The one starring Jet Li. What I watched had unfinished sfx and with no scoring done yet. Also… they will be adding one or two scenes which will be shot sometime end of october.

Now let me list the positives of this movie

1) Action - I wasn’t expecting the action scenes to be as awesome as they were. Simply put the best thing about this movie. The last action scene of Goku vs. Picollo are simply amazing and when picollo takes out his huge f***ing ass sword with weird rectangle shape tablet attached it at the tip of sword and slamming it on goku was f***ing awesome. Lot of blowing shit up, super cool flying scenes, awesome ki blasts. This fight scene was around 13-15 minutes long. There are other small action scenes that are fun and entertaining with slo mo but nowhere as good as the picollo vs. goku scene.

2) James Marsters as Picollo was awesome. He was perfect as picollo. Very mean and a villain that makes you say f*** ya kick all their asses. Oh and Picollo transforms into a light greenish color picollo towards the end of the movie.

3) Justin Chatwin as Goku. This guy surprised me a lot. I really didn’t like him when they casted him as goku but he did a damn good job in the acting department and he nailed the KAMEHAMEHA line.

4) Oozaru - the giant monkey is in the movie. Goku turns into a 8-9 feet tall giant baboon when he looks at the moon. It was awesome looking though a bit CGI. Maybe they will fix it later.

5) Emmy Rossum as Bulma- She was really really good in this role. I liked how she never acted like a wimpy girl and eventhough she knows she can’t win against the evil forces yet she kicks ass. A strong female role I will say.

6) Fullum Assasins - I thought adding these monsters were bad idea but they were pretty damn cool and there was an enitre scene where Goku and his friends fight these monsters and that fight scene was pretty damn good.

7) Joon Park as Yamcha was pretty cool. His acting was spot on like the character and they showed some cool fighting techniques of his. The fight scene between him and goku was good.

Negatives

1) Story - Dragonball fans will be dissapointed with some of the changes they have made with stories and characters etc. Krillin isn’t in the movie, Tien isn’t in the movie too. High school setting for the first 22-23 minutes was so not needed but ah well typical hollywood garbage of adding bullshit like that.

2) Jamie Chung as Chi Chi - Ya this was another casting i didn’t like and my worst fears came true. Her acting is as bad as Jessica Alba’s in F4 movies but thankfully her screentime isn’t that big. I really wished they could have tried harded to find someone else. I hope for sequel she can improve if there is one of course.

3) Chow Yun Fat as Master Roshi - I was dissapointed with this. I wanted the f***ing perverted roshi who f***ing grabs breasts and asses like in the anime but alas all of that is f***ing gone. Also he acted like Mr. Kesuke Miyagi. You know what I mean. The lines he spoke were fine but I felt he was uncomfortable in the movie. Very dissapointed.

4) Shenron the dragon - Ah another huge dissapointment. This is like sentinel in X3 all over again. f*** f*** f*** you fox. So ya they get all the dragonballs and the dragon appears but the dragon is hiding behind f***ing clouds and you only see his shadow. The voice of the dragon was provided by none other than Christopher Sabat who provided the voice for the dragon in the american version of the anime. When the dragon spoke it was chilling but damnit it was hiding behind clouds. One can hope they will fix this but chances of that are very slim.

5) Eriko Tamura as Mai was underused character and frankly speaking if that is what their intention was to underuse her then they might as well have not added this character and just added more picollo. Her moments were cool and she basically was there to show her nice boobies but ya she was kinda wasted.

Overall, I would give the movie a 6.5/10 simply because i was expecting disaster but it turned out better. The positives I mentioned coupled with some cool funny goku moments like eating a massive turkey etc. were hilarious. If only Master Roshi was perverted and Shenron was visible I would have given this 9 but ah well they messed up there. Hopefully they will fix shenron as they still have 5 months to movie’s release but if not then well f*** you to fox and james wong. But in all seriousness I am glad it aint the disaster I thought it would be. Hopefully you guys will post this. Thank You.

Joon Park Interview

user posted image

The Korean website Star news put up an interview with Joon Park (Yamcha) today, and we’ve got a translation

I always wanted to be a Hollywood actor, because I’m not good at the Korean language for acting in a Korean movie.

Dragonball was my third audition in Hollywood. I went to the audition, and I was called up from the director to come audition again. When I went to audition again, there were actors who were well known in the U.S., so I had to fight them. I thought “Not a chance,” because I’m “God” in Korea, but a “shit” in the U.S. (laugh)

I entered the audition wearing a hat and shorts, and as soon as the director looked at me, he said “You are Yamcha.” I still can’t believe it. I won’t appear the first 25% of the movie, but I will later on.

I met Chow Yun-Fat for the first time when we traveled by helicopter. He was indeed a kind person. He was very friendly.

It isn’t easy to make a comic into a movie. It could have became too childish. So we were trying to maintain a middle ground. There will be a lot of CG in the movie. This is a family movie, so the shooting set was a very family-like atmosphere. “Speed Racer” was a very technical set, “Dragonball” set’s atmosphere was kind of like inviting staff to your home and having a barbecue.

Details of the movie are still a secret. It will be released on March 14th next year in South Korea and Japan for the first time in the world. Toys and video games will be released in the near future. My toys too. (laugh)

All About Dragonball
IGN’s Brian Linder has a write-up on the live-action movie, which is basically a rundown of facts and rumors that we’ve come across previously. Still, though, it’s an informative article for those of you who haven’t been following the movie. Here’s an excerpt:

QUOTE
A purported Dragonball trailer was leaked a while back which left some franchise faithful scratching their heads. That preview, we’ve learned, was merely a promotional video made for licensing purposes and does not necessarily properly represent the final version of the film.

Sure, Piccolo may not be totally green-skinned — we hear he turns a green-ish tint near the end of the film — and that leaked Goku “monster form” pic (that we can’t show you) was somewhat awkward — but it’s still several months away from the expected release date. And a movie like this is at least half-made in post-production.

We don’t think it’s a bad thing that Fox delayed the movie — it was originally set for an August 2008 release — to ensure that there’s enough time for proper tweaking. Reshoots of the flick are reportedly being done.

The officially released promotional stills all look pretty cool, so we’ll remain cautiously optimistic. A legit trailer should be arriving before the end of the year.

Plansiete.com has a video interview with Jonay Bacallado, a concept artist for Dragonball. You can watch the interview (in Spanish) here, or read a translation (thanks to Jonathan Martinez) below.

Narrator: His latest project has entered a whole new realm of difficult creativity, It involves the diversion of the reality of the dragonball series. His ambition was to give the characters a “new look” than in the manga, while still keeping the spirit of it in tact.

Jonay: This is one of those projects where the artist already has a reference to look off of; my job was not as big as that of say, the producer, because I already had a reference to expand from. To tell you the truth, It was really complicated, we had so much work to do to redesign every character to get them to where they’re at now.

Here is the concept art featured in the video (via):

Dragonball GT is just plain stupid and ruined the dragonball image. I mean if you notice one thing, the whole point that makes the character interesting is way way off in GT. Vegeta coporating with Goku (numerous times in GT) and willingly? The notion of goku's wife and the rest of gangs being always "conveniently" at the scene of battle and tend to stick like glue? Instead of "mano a mano" fight, it became a rather "heck as long we win, we don't care how even if we join forces against one guy" style.

Emmy and Justin in Tokyo
Emmy Rossum (Bulma) updated her blog today from Tokyo. She says Justin Chatwin (Goku) was on the plane ride over there with her, so they may be in Japan to promote Dragonball.

And speaking of Tokyo and Dragonball, just a reminder that Jump Festa will be showing specially selected scenes from the movie on December 20th. If you pre-order tickets you’ll also be treated to a Goku or Piccolo bearbrick toy.

There were rumors that Justin Chatwin would be at the Dragonball movie panel at Jump Festa (where the movie clips will be shown), and this new blog post from Emmy could mean both of them will be attending.

QUOTE
Making a Trailer Does Not Take This Long
We’ve been pretty patient for some kind of official trailer to be released this year. First at the beginning of the year when the release date was still August 15th, then when the film was pushed back to April, and then even more when Fox claimed the trailer was still not ready in October. Now it looks like the trailer won’t even be released…this year.

QUOTE
We had hoped to finish it in time for that delivery but it looks like it may be debuting later now. Still waiting to hear for sure

What a horrible decision (if true). I hate to draw comparisons, but many films that come out later than Dragonball already have full-length trailers and dozens of stills. It simply does not take this long to put out a teaser trailer. I sincerely hope Fox hires faster trailer editors in the future so other films don’t have to suffer from horrible promotion.

Maybe if you shout really loud in the comments section they will put one out. But I doubt it.

New Movie Title: Dragonball Evolution biggrin.gif

QUOTE
Update: Dragonball Gets a New Title?

20th Century Fox may have extended the title of its upcoming "Dragon Ball" adaptation to Dragonball Evolution. If it's indeed the new title the studio is going with, we should find out for sure soon.

Written and directed by James Wong, the big screen version stars Justin Chatwin, James Marsters, Jamie Chung, Emmy Rossum, Eriko Tamura, Joon Park, Chow Yun-Fat, Texas Battle, Randall Duk Kim and Ernie Hudson.

Opening in theaters on April 8, the film is based on the manga created by Akira Toriyama.

UPDATE: 20th Century Fox has also registered the domain name DragonballEvolutionmovie.com, which currently takes you to FoxMovies.com.

At an early age, Tarble was ordered by his father, King Vegeta, to be sent to a remote star on the grounds that he lacked the aggression and fighting skills required to be a Saiyan warrior, classifying Tarble a low-class Saiyan. It is on this star that Tarble presumably meets his wife, Gure. His appearance in Yo! Son Goku and His Friends Return!! shows that his personality is somewhat gentle, compared to the ruthlessness of the average Saiyan.
Tarble's desperate plight to his estranged brother Vegeta.
Tarble's desperate plight to his estranged brother Vegeta.

Two years after the defeat of Kid Buu, Tarble, accompanied by Gure, flee to Earth to seek Vegeta's assistance in defeating the brother duo Abo and Kado, former henchmen of Frieza whom Tarble confesses have since become as powerful as their master and have been terrorizing his home. Abo and Kado pursuit Tarble and Gure to Earth using Saiyan Pods, where Trunks and Goten are unleashed on the two. After struggles from both sides, Abo and Kado fuse into Aka, prompting Trunks and Goten to fuse into Gotenks and incite another battle. When Aka begins to demonstrate more significantly devastating power, Goku and Vegeta prepare to destroy him, however a trick Goku plays on Vegeta results in Goku successfully being the one to vanquish Aka.

Because he was not a part of the series' original canon, Tarble is never acknowledged by Vegeta until his appearance in Yo! Son Goku and His Friends Return!!, though with his inclusion in the franchise it can be assumed that because of Tarble's inferiority, he is a humiliation to the proud Vegeta.

It looks like our buddies in Japan won’t have to wait much longer for the trailer. CinemaToday is reporting that Dragonball’s trailer will premiere at the midnight showing of The Day The Earth Stood Still on December 18th. No word on if it’ll be released online.

We’re still waiting to hear from Fox on this, so it hasn’t been confirmed.

They should insert the Fliza vs Goku fight.. that will be damn fun. Or Goku vs Bezita.. Picollo fight is phail. lolx. ^^

And they use too much explosion effect where for Dragonball should be mountain breaking flying around and fight. lolx. Akira Toriyama will say... haha... my anime and manga is 10000% much better than this. But heck.. i get money from the licensing of the brand. So phail America for making it ^^.

Hope they dont screw up Macross movie now also. TT

I beg to differ. This is not about low cost production. Through my understanding, this is a high budget film although the directional of the film kinda different from the manga. Being a fan of its comic and animation, I do agree that the film is far from its original. But you must understand the realism they want to relate with real world. Seriously, it is not tolerable to see a dude with such hair in real life or blue hairs. If you think they didn't put the blue wig or turtle shell due to low cost, you're totally wrong there. Despite what they presented is not up to our expectation (especially the anime lovers), bear in mind that what they are currently doing will cater audiences from other levels. Not necessarily anime fans.

The movie.. by Kuai Lo for Goku... I pass on it.. Yeah. the 2008 OVA is very nice. Show the Super Saiyan still too keng. Thought Goten and Trunks can be SS3. Still can lose to the fella who same strength as Fliza. Thought like in manga.. when Trunks from future vs Fliza Cyborg.. Fliza can't even touch him and its like kacang only. But in the end again.. if too keng where got fun.

Just like how Goku cheat Bezita again. Haha..

Actually Dragon Ball world wasn't focus on Japan much. Goku himself was an alien. By having Goku as a Japanese doesn't suit well.

You are rite. But as for me. The director does read the manga but couldn't understand the japanese word.Probaly at that time when he got the contract he ask his assistant to get the manga for his study but instead that dumb assistant give him the wrong volume, the Majin Saga. However according to the contract it was suppose to be Goku fight Picorro so he misunderstood between Goku and Gohan & Picorro and Majin.

i.e, see that Goku's hair in the LA glued upward like youth gohan.

We’re not 100% certain this is the domestic (American) trailer, but it’s a good guess. We’ll update this post with new information.

PSP Game Screenshots and Press Release
Bandai Namco Games and 20th Century Fox have officially announced the upcoming Dragonball: Evolution video game exclusively for the PSP. The game tie-in is set to release March 19th in Japan and sometime in April in North America. We’ve included a snippet of the press release and screenshots below.

Gary Rosenfeld, Senior Vice President, New Media for Fox L&M, added, “Dragon Ball is one of the most successful manga series of all-time and the upcoming film and videogame will only build upon its unprecedented popularity. I can’t wait for fans to get a taste of these latest installments to the franchise.”

In Dragon Ball: Evolution for the PSP system, ultimate powers collide as players match up against their favorite characters from the film release and battle for control of the seven sacred Dragon Balls that have the power to grant any wish. Dragon Ball: Evolution employs an easy-to-learn yet difficult to master fighting system which provides everyone the power to pull off stylish and dynamic attacks. Ki (energy) management will be essential to gain the upper hand and unleash a devastating attack on their unsuspecting opponents.

It’s been confirmed by Fox that France will be getting Dragonball: Evolution a full week earlier than the U.S. on April 1st, 2009.

Now wait a minute… I can understand Japan, but France? South Korea is also snatching Evolution earlier, the same day as Japan on March 13th. So why are we stuck with April 8th?

This isn’t the first time Fox has pulled something like this. And because of this decision, the film will undoubtably suffer from piracy and thus lose money. As someone who is legitimately excited to see the movie, I just don’t see the reasoning. What do you think?

QUOTE
The Action of Evolution

user posted image

Badtaste.it posted a preview on what you can expect from the action scenes of Dragonball: Evolution. In it are quotes from the director, cinematographer, Justin Chatwin and the stunt team. We’ve translated the article (to the best of our abilities) from Italian.

“How do you make sequences of action different from what the public has seen so far?” This was the first question that [director] James Wong placed on his team when he started to reflect on what people expect from a movie like Dragonball.

The answers arrived from acclaimed stunt team 87Eleven, as the director of photography Robert McLachlan and the visual effects supervisor, Ariel Shaw, have certainly pleased Wong and they promise to delight not only fans of the series, but also fans of action films.

The visual effects supervisor (Ariel Shaw) took what Wong defines as “fist-cams” using the renowned company Iconix, cameras so small that they can be linked to the hand of an actor and that allows the stroke of a character’s [fist] to go directly to the [audience].

“It’s kind of a point of view of the fist,” says Wong. McLachlan [the director of photography] suggested that the use of new digital cameras (the high-speed Phantoms) to create super-speed in major action sequences. “We have done a lot of research and development tests with chambers Phantom,” says McLachlan, who discovered this system of photography, then experimental, on YouTube.

Indeed, in a video that appeared on the famous site, a balloon filled with water is blown up, while the action is taken at 1000 frames per second. McLachlan and Wong were impressed by the results. “The most spectacular [thing] was that the water retained the shape of the balloon as it came out,” recalls Wong.

Less advanced from a technological point of view, but equally important to the action scenes, have been training and supervision by stunt company 87Eleven, as well as from the stunt coordinators Jonathan Eusebio, Julian Bucio Montemayor and Jared Eddo.

Their first task was to bring in the cast, and then work with them in an intensive program of action choreography and, finally, make the players feel at ease in working with major wire and acrobatic sequences. It was definitely a rigorous program, which, as revealed by Eusebio, “when the actors did not work, [they] trained.”

The young cast had to each follow specific training, because there weren’t any cast members with an identical style of combat. They also had special diets to maintain their strength and energy during production.

In the history of Dragonball, Goku is the greatest warrior on the planet. And so Justin Chatwin took very seriously the responsibility to capture the qualities of the character. Before the start of filming, he faced six weeks of nutrition guide, as well as training for the stunt and martial arts with 87Eleven and continuing this challenging regime during shooting. “The adrenaline is still flowing,” says the actor, who also appears to have eliminated sugar, wheat and pasta for the film. Chatwin spent every day at least five hours to train, studying karate, kung fu and a form known as Brazilian capoeira, encoding the movement of martial arts and dance.

For more extreme acrobatic movements, Jackson Spidell was the stunt double of the actor. The main move characteristic of Spidell was jumping in the air, making a half turn and, during the spin, hitting an opponent.

Bloodtrail sent us the official pressbook for Dragonball: Evolution. The “first” part of the kit, “The Action of Evolution,” was posted by Badtaste.it on Wednesday (although they left out information), and now we’ll be posting the rest of it in parts. Enjoy the “second” part (it’s actually the first), in which a detailed synopsis of the film is given, as well as history on how it all got started.

The Design of Evolution

user posted image

We continue our reveal of the pressbook with part 3, “Designing Dragonball: Evolution.” In this addition, insight is given into the look and feel of the film.

The unique look of the film’s action scenes complements its art direction and cinematography. Production designer Bruton Jones, along with visual consultants Richard Holland and Bruce Crone, referenced the Dragonball manga and anime, as well as a melting pot of styles reflecting the film’s multicultural, past/future reference points. The Dragon Temple, for example has Russian, Japanese and Chinese architectural influences.

Before production started, director of photography Robert McLachlan tested various film stocks before going with Fuji, which helped provide the heavily color-saturated look he was after. The color saturation adds to the intensity of the film’s solar eclipse, which in the story signals a potentially cataclysmic event. “We wanted our eclipse to be much more surreal [than a typical solar eclipse], with weird, intense, reddish colors,” says McLachlan.

Ariel Velasco Shaw oversaw the film’s many and varied visual effects, including the energy force known as Ki. Harnessing the power of Ki is one of the central tenants of Eastern philosophy – and connects the incredible goings-on of Dragonball to our real world. In the “air bending” technique of Ki, the practitioner pushes out from his or her chest, causing the air around them to ripple with distortion – and the ensuing energy force to impact their opponent. Ki is so strong that it draws the power of the universe as it is channeled through the practitioner skilled in its technique. Its ultimate manifestation is Goku’s “Kame-Hame-Ha” move.

Velasco Shaw and his team created various, character-appropriate forms of Ki. For example, a human character would possess a different Ki than an alien or a human-alien hybrid. Moreover, there’s a “younger” Ki for the more youthful characters, and an “older,” more developed Ki for Roshi.

The iconic and mystical Dragonballs were largely the creation of the visual effects team. “Everybody had an idea about what they should look like and what they needed to do,” Velasco Shaw says. The Dragonballs, courtesy of some intensive CG magic, have an otherworldly luminescence befitting their numinous properties.

Velaco Shaw also oversaw the two fully-realized CG creations: the monstrous creature Oozaru, as well as the Fu Lum, demon assassins, who regenerate when dismembered.

Alec Gillis and Tom Woodruff, Jr., principals of one of the industry’s top special makeup and prosthetics houses, Amalgamated Dynamics Inc. (ADI), designed and created the prosthetic makeup for Lord Piccolo. The sophisticated prosthetics for Lord Piccolo, designed by Gillis and Woodruff, were applied by prosthetic makeup artist Edward French

The Locations of Evolution
The pressbook comes to a conclusion with part 4, “About the locations.” Hope you enjoy.

“DRAGONBALL: EVOLUTION” began production in Mexico City, where a private, ultra-modern school stood in for Goku’s high school. More than one hundred students were used as extras filling in the classrooms, parking lots and hallways. A sprawling private mansion in an exclusive residential area with English Tudor and Asian architectural elements was utilized for a high school party scene. An area within the city limits became Paozu City, where Roshi lives in a shack situated amidst towering skyscrapers.

After six days of filming in Mexico City, the production moved to Durango, Mexico, where the rest of the filming took place. “Durango has the spectacular outdoor locations including the high mountains, rock formations and deserts we required,” says executive producer Tim Van Rellim, who had worked on a film production in Durango a decade earlier. The production transformed an abandoned jeans factory with a million square feet into a working studio production facility with office, storage and mill spaces, along with a wardrobe warehouse, practical soundstages, and a ten-acre outdoor area that was turned into a backlot for outdoor sets.

High mountain desolate rock formations at Mexiquillo became the secret Toi San training facility.  Over 200 local Durango martial artists and their instructors were recruited and transported to the remote location for a big martial arts training scene. The cast and crew faced daily extremes in temperatures from chilly early morning lows of 30 degrees (Fahrenheit) to hot afternoon highs of 80 degrees (F.), as well as occasional dust storms fanned by windy conditions. Later in the shoot, the filmmakers utilized a major recreation facility in Durango as the location for the Toi San Tournament competition arena. One thousand extras filled the structure, cheering the action.

Los Organos State Park, with its spectacular rock formations that resemble church organ pipes, became the setting and inspiration for the story’s Dragon Temple, where pivotal action set pieces where captured. Towering desert sand dunes, called “Las Dunas De Bilbao,” north of Durango, were used for traveling scenes and as the exterior of a desert cavern in Yamcha’s habitat.

The Toi San marketplace was realized out of a grain storage facility from the 1800s that was found just outside of Durango. New architectural elements were added and then enhanced by set decorations mixing Middle Eastern elements with a flea market atmosphere.

Interior sets constructed and housed at the Jeans factory production facility, included the two-story interior of Roshi’s shack, a 20 foot high cavern interior, the Toi San Temple courtyard and corresponding interiors, Lord Piccolo’s Genesis Chamber and dirigible, as well as the green screen sets.

One of these days when you go visiting Akira Toriyama you would likely ask this; "Dude where the hell did you get that money?"
and he would probably say; "I just don't care about what American would do with my life time work, I just need the greens! (aka dollar)"
I pretty sure he's on the couch realizing how much royalty he gets while his fan is crying in despair.

Hollywood never learn from they past mistakes, anime live action is not the way to go. Seriously, Chow Yun Fat as Master Roshi?
And is that Bulma? Whats that? Picollo? Arghh!!! This is a big mistake and a waste of time and money! The Dragonball Universe is not even
close to the movie...I...I just don't know what to say anymore...

I hate this. Sorry for the rage.

Seems like everyone is talking bout the movie, but here's some good news. Not sure if old or not:

Dragon Ball Z anime re-airing in April:
QUOTE
"Refreshed" DBZ TV Airing In Japan!
VegettoEX @ 9:20 am EST -- Forget the American live-action movie... this is perhaps the biggest news to hit since DragonBall GT ended in Japan back in 1997! We've heard rumblings since last month about this on our forum via our new-favorite-inside-source "Wasted Wisher", but now that Jump confirms it, I think we all feel a little more comfortable sharing the information (due to it being so strange-yet-incredible).

Another big thanks to kei17 over in Japan for the Jump scan and translation/information. Let's just break it down clearly and quickly for you, since I'm pretty sure that we can all barely contain our excitement:

    *      The DBZ TV series is receiving an extensive "refresh" for Japanese television airing
    *      This is a celebration of the 20th anniversary of DBZ
    *      While based on the original animation production, it is being updated with new technology
    *      This includes extending the frames for formatting on an HD 16:9 display (note: not cropping the image)
    *      The original Japanese cast is re-grouping to re-voice the show (where available, and unfortunately not including those that have passed on, such as Hirotaka Suzuoki [Tenshinhan])
    *      Sound effects are being updated
    *      Unlike the general show, the OPs and EDs are being completely redone
    *      While not in the above announcement, other reports are noting that the number of episodes is being reduced from 291 to approximately 100
    *      This begins 05 April 2009 @ 9 am

Ki (energy) management will be essential to gain the upper hand and unleash a devastating attack on their unsuspecting opponents.

Hollywood destroy dragonball should be the tittle for the movie. Dragonball still very popular eventhough the series end long time ago. Its not forgotten by its fans so hollywood you cant just americanized to be B-class hollywood film. The cast i dont mind but changing characters its characteristic and charm its truly stupid and arrogant on the filmmaker side.

Just dont care how good the CGI gonna be (from the trailer just sad) its truly ruins dragonball series. mad.gif

P/S : Chow more suitable for Son Gohan (granpa) role. and this should be story about Gohan school life like many members here stated. icon_question.gif

Akira Toriyama Comments on Evolution
Akira Toriyama left a comment on Dragonball: Evolution before the newest Japanese trailer for the film. ANN translates:
As the original creator, I had a feeling of “Huh?” upon seeing the screenplay and the character designs, but the director, all the actors, the staff, and the rest are nothing but “ultra” high-caliber people. Maybe the right way for me and all the fans to appreciate it is as a New Dragonball of a different dimension. Perhaps, this might become a great masterpiece of power! Hey, I look forward to it!!

‘Dragonball Evolution’ Movie Toys At Toy Fair 2009: Goku, Roshi, Piccolo And Oozaru Build-A-Figure

Earlier today, we brought you a sneak peek at Hasbro’s upcoming line of “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” movie toys, and now we have your first look at another line of action figures based on a much-anticipated 2009 film and making their debut at Toy Fair 2009: Bandai’s line of “Dragonball Evolution” movie toys.

Not only did we get a peek at all seven characters in their 4-inch line of figures and a few of their 6-inch “Fast-Acting” figures (which punch and/or kick at super-fast speed), we also received a nice look at the 7-part build-a-figure Oozaru (Big Monkey) — a character appearing in the film that, until now, has only been hinted at in interviews with the “Dragonball” cast.

user posted image

Read on for more shots of the “Dragonball Evolution” movie toys from Bandai debuting at this year’s Toy Fair International.

First up is a 6-inch figure based on the villainous Lord Piccolo, as played by “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” alum James Marsters.

user posted image

All seven of the 4-inch “Dragonball Evolution” figures come with a piece of the giant Oozaru figure, one of the Dragonballs and a piece of the Dragonball altar. Collect all seven, and you can assemble the figure and altar o’ Dragonballs shown here. Nifty, eh?

user posted image

It’s Chow Yun-Fat as Master Roshi — complete with an excellent Hawaiian shirt.

Last, but certainly not least, is the figure based on Bulma — the “ass-kicking” hero played by Emmy Rossum. (For more on Rossum’s character, check out our video interview with Rossum on her “Dragonball” role.)

Exclusive: Dragonball 2 to go to an “interesting place”

Dragonball: Evolution, the first live-action adaptation of the popular manga, hasn’t even hit our screens yet, but the script for a proposed sequel has already been written, according to Justin Chatwin, who plays Goku in the upcoming film.

Speaking to SciFiNow last month, the 26-year-old actor said that he was signed on for potential sequels, and that he was excited about the prospect: “If there were to be a sequel I think it… well, I know that it would go to a really interesting place, because they already have the second script written.” When pressed for details, Chatwin revealed a little more about the direction of the celluloid version of the franchise. “It’s really, really cool. The second one goes more into the whole legacy and the genealogy of Dragonball. It goes more in-depth into a real Dragonball series, the kind of intergalactic world of Dragonball.”

Dragonball: Evolution stars Justin Chatwin, Emmy Rossum, and Chow Yun-Fat. The film is released in the Japan on 13 March 2009, the United Kingdom on 3 April 2009, and the United States on 8 April 2009.

Dragonball: Evolution made it on Entertainment Weekly’s “Top 17 Movies We Can’t Wait to See” list for Spring 2009.

DRAGONBALL: EVOLUTION
April 8, 2009

Starring: Emmy Rossum, Chow Yun-Fat
Directed by: James Wong

Not sure what (or who) a Dragonball is? You might have missed the cult manga comics that have already spawned hit animated TV shows in the U.S. and Japan. But this live-action adaptation — about a group of warriors protecting Earth from an evil force — should catch you up.

Can already guess the ending though:

- Either a Kame Hame Ha or Spirit Bomb that kills Piccolo
- Goku kiss Chi Chi

QUOTE
- The DBZ TV series is receiving an extensive "refresh" for Japanese television airing
- This is a celebration of the 20th anniversary of DBZ
- While based on the original animation production, it is being updated with new technology
- This includes extending the frames for formatting on an HD 16:9 display (note: not cropping the image)
- The original Japanese cast is re-grouping to re-voice the show (where available, and unfortunately not including those that have passed on, such as Hirotaka Suzuoki [Tenshinhan])
- Sound effects are being updated
- Unlike the general show, the OPs and EDs are being completely redone
- While not in the above announcement, other reports are noting that the number of episodes is being reduced from 291 to approximately 100

New content:
- A brief look at the last moments of Bardock and Planet Vegeta
- An overview of young Goku's growing up years (Dragonball, the pre-Z period) up until his triumph over Piccolo at the Tenkaichi-Budokai.
- The all-too-brief and yet still somewhat triumphant return of FARMER WITH A SHOTGUN!

And sadly (although that really all depends on how you look at things...)
- Goku's winky has disappeared!

That's right, through the miracle of "we're just not gonna draw it anymore", Li'l Goku is no longer going to be allowed to show off "Even Littler Goku" on TV. But don't worry, they won't do anything so blatant as to digitize tighty-whiteys on him.

- The story will be developed speedily! -- "Kai" starts from the invasion of the Saiyans. This version will be re-edited to hew more closely to Akira Toriyama's original story, so the story's development will progress all the faster!
- The opening and ending songs will be completely renewed!! -- The opening and ending songs will together be made anew! Furthermore, in "Kai", the background music will be newly recorded. Let's enjoy "Kai", where even the music has been powered up!!
- Through digital processing, the image will be made vibrant!! -- All the grime, damage and noise remaining on the "Z" film will be removed! In HD, the image will be even clearer. We've carefully made the ultra-powerful "Kai" world even more impressive!
- An all-star voice cast will record the lines anew!! -- The original main cast, centered around Masako Nozawa as Son Goku, will reunite, yo. They'll breathe life into the characters again, to support their appeal!!

DBE = Epic PHAIL.

1. Goku looks like Gohan.
2. Master Roshi does not look like Prof X, and he is some overgrowth tall noob. WHERE is the GOD DAMN TURTLE SHELL!
3. Chi Chi is a Blonde? wth?!
4. Picoro do not have the 2 long thing that pop on his head.
5. the movie environment city doesnt look Dragonballish at all.

the only person that looks closest is Bulma and Picoro.

Just all these 5 reason is more than enough for me to not to pay and watch this movie.

yup KAI is a remake of Dragonball Z, it will be re-edit/crop to follow exactly with the manga with no fillers. Gonna cut short the 291epi to a mere 100episodes like that. All the sound effects and character voice has been re-recorded. Nice touch to it, feels nostalgic when i wath Kai. reminds me of schooling times lol ..

Did notice on episode 03, some scenes were redrawn and they tried to make the new scenes blend in with the original. Mostly on the fighting scenes.
