I used to be in telecoms and Finisar or at least the one in Perak isn't an eqpt maker. They make mostly fibre optic transceivers those small form factor pluggable modules you plug into eqpt like routers. And those are hit hard by China fellas and are on the lower end of the value chain

Hmmm decent numbers but for these American listed types might not be too great a figure for shareholders. And unfortunately the CEO only cares for shareholders. If its in his interest to slash wage costs to show a better bottomline he will do it. Especially if it results in better than expected performance in this pandemic. Unfortunately these are how these types work. CEOs jaga shareholders because end of the day its the shareholders that reward CEOs. Illogical I know, everyone knows staff are an important asset to a company

The western optical tranceiver manufacturers market share has been declining for the past decade.
They've been slowly eaten up by Chinese brands which nowadays offer much advanced 10G beyond transceivers, beaten by price and oversaturated market.



Finisar has branches too overseas in US so the overall parent company you quoted is not just Malaysia side operations.

There are much larger companies in Perak such as Top Glove, Toyo Tyres, Vale, Unisem, Carsem etc.

In this country, an employer is expected to be belas kasihan, tolong menolong, understanding, and caring for the employees. Without these, you're labelled as babi and will gain hate.

It’s the factory’s management problem and some HR memang will just jilat to keep their position. One thing about being HR in factory is that if you really heartless enough to treat workers like dogs, you can really go on a power trip coz ur top management will love you.

I worked as a HR manyzer in a kilang before, only can tahan for 3 months. During the interview the MD talk like so good say he wanna find someone familiar with the employment act and ER/IR to ensure compliance to the laws. Then when I started work baru realise that he actually wants me to come up with creative solutions to cover up non compliant things to seem compliant. Luckily ayam manage to jump ship fast. When working with a staffing agency also ayam had many kilang clients, all also 2x5 be it Chinaman, Malay or even MNC kilang. The mentality to exploit workers to the max is always there.
