Im glad got ppl notice. I've always ask man utd fans, go watch the goals they concede and watch where your captain 80m defender is and what he is doing. More often than not, he will be out of position, slowly jogging back, or right in the middle of the mix doing nothing at best. At worst, he will be causing havoc in his own defensive area.

The first goal they conceded, its not his fault as he manages to clear the ball deapite being imbalanced. But, he was very imbalanced, and if this happened again, he might not have cleared it successfully. His fellow defender was already approaching the ball ahead of the attacker, but due to the awkward breakdance, the other defender didnt attempt to go for the ball even though he was in a more stable position to do something with it. If maguire had screwed up his hiphop, which also causes his teammate to not go for the ball, it gives the opposing attacker a chance.

Imo, he is just not a dominant leader presence, and should be taken as a worker instead of a leader. Dont let him call the shots at defence. Make him play with more discipline. Get the goalkeeper to bark orders, or a defensive midfielder if needed. It probably wont be worse than a defender who roams higher than a DM anyway.

look at villa goes, last season relegation battle, now top half of the league table.

He should score 50% of his header. Always head wide. Annoying like shit.  If can score then ppl are more forgiving of his defending

Fred: 89 touches, 14 ball recoveries
McTominay: 45 touches, 6 recoveries

McTominay should've been sub for VDB or whoever.. Greenwood can do 6 ball recoveries in 90minutes too

What I do not understand, however, that I did not hear our ex-players like Scholesy, Keane, Evra talked about it. It is clear that Maguire can not lead his own defense, let alone the captaincy as a whole 

Why should there be 2. Just choose either one of them and put another more advance player in the game. Defend from the top. F the win by counter.

We have better forwards then defenders or mids. Stupid safe play manager.

We need to keep in mind that McT is not a natural CDM, he is a box to box midfielder. But instructing him to sit, he's only using the defensive part of his toolkit which may not be as good as other specialists. Kind of a waste, like asking Frank Lampard or Scholes in his heyday to sit in front of the defence. At Leeds, he was given the green light to break forward. At Leicester, he didn't make a single forward run. Round peg, square hole. Matic is a better fit if he was younger.

Ole's gameplan seems to revolve around fielding 2 CDMs in away games for the counter. And we still created chances. Imagine if we got comfortable playing with one CDM like most other teams, our attack would be scary.

Right now we definitely have defensive problems. We keep leaking 2 goals a game.

exactly, imagine United have a better manager and coaches.. no more waiting for the right time to pounce, no more hoping for a lucky break, no more hoping for rivals to drop points..
