i don't think geely can or will
u need to know what's the purpose of lotus car 1st and why their niche buyer buy them
and where they got their nickname purist from

recently mightycarmods got their 1st ever lotus
even they commented it's far from "luxury"...it's not practical, it noisy, it's cramp, it's not comfortable, it has no back seat, it has nothing inside but a radio and a/c
if trying to compare to normal car, even a proton saga is much better in all that aspect...but a saga doesn't and cannot perform as good as a lotus even if u plonked in a supercharged 1.8L engine

Forget about Lotus then. What if they turnaround Proton ?

proton = repackaged geely
luxury proton = repackaged volvo?

proton's target marker is low income...it's established for that purpose as well

if u want all the above...there is already a brand for it...big brother in geely family somemore
it's call volvo
it's luxurious, it perform like a lotus = it's fast, it accelerates fast, it handles well, it's quiet, it's spacious, it's 4 door, it's extremely safe, it has all the feature anybody wants

if u look at it that way
the geely family is pretty complete in every level/segment of automobile...from top till bottom

Seriously, don't syiok sendiri. It was bad enough that Proton was a huge Jaguh Kampung. The so called luxury division sold stretch Saga, Perdana and Accordana limo's in very limited quantities.

Proton got to get it's BASIC FUNDAMENTALS rights before even dare to think anything luxurious. Btw slapping on fake wood trims isn't anywhere near luxury, instead it's downright tacky and shouts idiot village hero.

Only after mastering basic fundamentals can they challenge overseas markets who doesn't have protection for local cars. Prove yourself in these overseas markets, make profit, then, maybe can perhaps consider either a luxury or sports division. But can you financially sustain this new loss making division???
