Whats MCM bro? yorkfield is made out of two wolfsdale dies on one module... in which wolfsdale is the desktop version of the penryn and yorksfield is suppose to be the succesor of the kentsfield...
MCM = multichip module.
I'm not quite sure what do you mean by desktop version of Penryn. Which indicates penryn is from mobile or server?
To makes things clear, read back the dailytech articles. The simplest way to understand what penryn is, its a 45nm shrink of current core 2 family. Not specifically refer to only one chip.

2008.
Multi-chip module aka > 1 die in a single package - not necessarily both dies are the same.
First done on the Pentium Pro (core + cache).
The XBox 360 chip Xenos is MCM (core + EDRAM), so is AMD's HD2900 GPUs (GPU + Ram).
Expect more MCMs in the near future.
Socket 775 but mobo-dependent.
Hmm.. 2008. Right after nehalem?

2008- Funny, that's when AMD goes MCM-ing 2 45nm Barcelonas!

X360 chip MCM spec is right, but HD2900 has discrete memory.
I don't recall any mcm-ing in AMD's latest roadmap. Is it Shanghai? Bulldozer? Bobcat? Did I miss something?
