Hi, my tenant told me that sometimes the toilet doesn't really drain out quickly and it sounds like a clog is about to start. This is a siphonic design outlet.

Based on my google research, there is something called toilet snake/ auger which looks solid to clean the outlet. However, those that i see in shopee looks thin and fragile. I suspect this is more for basins.

Has anyone tried to DIY? Care to share your experience(s)? I think a plumber will charge more than Rm200 for this.

Toilet dont get clog if users dont throw non bio degradeable things to flush. My toilet 12 years, no such issues.

Are you sure you want to DIY ? Ask a plumber and if he finds some solid stuff, bill the tenant. Otherwise you bear the cost.

If is a highrise, it could be the common discharge pipe outside your unit.

Better go over and take a look and see so you as an owner what is going on when the plumber comes and inspect. Depends on location, i think Rm200 for fixing it wont be that bad.. lol. Or you can just go to hardware shop and buy those and DIY yourself.. When u rented out no such problem right? Maybe can ask your tenant nicely if they accidentally threw anything inside or not..

My house where i am leaving is also ok after 8 years.

I thought of asking the hardware shop first for their advise because according to my tenant, it is sometimes only now. It is a new tenant, just 2 weeks.

I wont be surprise if the previous tenant threw things inside, it was a problematic tenant.

Common discharge pipe is one for all bathrooms? Other bathrooms no complain so far.

I think siphonic design is more prone to such issues compared to wash down toilets due to the narrower outlet.

Yes, definitely will go to the hardware shop first, the uncle there gives good advice and what to use. If it doesn't work, then i will resort to a plumber.

Wah ! better pray is not something solid, otherwise you have to remove it to have proper cleaning.

Since is occupied now, you dont have time for trial and error. Get it fixed asap b4 your tenant gets upset whenever he wants to bomb !

i have a drain snake at home. it's very convenient to use. just get one from hardware store will do.

The drain snake, I noticed that there are 2 types

mine have a handle to hold and a retractable top to spin & hold the extra 'snake'

so I think is big size
