 Crack at the middle of brake pads

actually it started life as 1 piece...it's stuck to the plate, then a groove is cut into it about 80% deep... this is the line you see on new pads

the bottom of the groove is a stress concentration point...over time, it develops this crack you're seeing now... so it's correct the crack is zigzag a bit but follows the big groove line

correct...you use past this 80% depth, you'll just see this crack line

Oh my this makes absolute sense. Thanks. For a while I was convinced it was fake brake pads
