Swapped out my old brake pads on 2006 altis. These r original Toyota japan pads. However noticed the all of the 4 front pads have crack in the middle. Any idea why. Is it normal

Wow. In 1 year and 30k kilometer, the pads are worn like this already?

Do you frequently drive hard? As I know, Toyota pads are quite long lasting.

Can show us the condition or your brake rotors too?

You replaced at Toyota SC or outside workshop?

Replaced outside. Unfortunately I assume quite hard. Tends to be the most aggressive drive on the road whenever im on the road. Lotsa hard braking often or rather always.
I changed it outside.

Ohh.. It is to be expected then with your driving style.

Information I got from google:

Why are my brake pads cracking?
Cracking, Glazing, or Lifted Edges on the Pads

This can be caused by many things. Overuse, improper break-in procedure, hydraulic system problems, seized caliper components, defective pads, and the parking brake not fully retracting are some common problems.

From your driving style, you should use better performance aftermarket brake pads.

Original pads doesn't suit your driving style already.

Ok. I always assume japan Toyota that would be the better ones already especially since 14 yo toyota how much pressure u can exert. Seeing this probably coz I exceeded the capability if the stock pad? If so im relieved

Original pads was designed to provide sufficient braking under normal driving conditions.

If you push it hard, it won't last long. Thus, aftermarket brake pads comes in.

But you have to keep in mind, some aftermarket brake pads might eat your rotor faster due to the friction compound use and might be noisier when braking.

Original pads will give you the best smoothness and comfort when braking. Probably less brake dust too.

Probably not a crack, but remnant of line in the middle of the brake pads
Look at new brake pads or google up image of them

From the pics, can tell the rotors already developed 'lines'.
Time to skim (if still thick) or replace new together with new set of pads.

It's not a straight line but rather a zig zag line . I assume it's not.
The model number is 04465-YZZE2
Some are telling its fake parts? Bought from fortune auto which prides themselves in original toyot parts

when new the pad is thick and straight line gap is big...but the gap is actually joined together near the base plate... you wear the pad away so much already you don't see the straight line anymore...now just showing the zigzag crack line where it's originally joined...the crack is normal since its weakest part when the pad is new

This

This is normal. You can try find pad without the center dust groove. if you can find one; most probably you will notice your new pads squeal like pigs getting tasered when you brake.

Eventhough the line is not straight bit rather zig zag still can be the dust groove?

Wait I think im getting u. U mean the pad is actually 2 pieces joining together rather than 1 single piece so when u use it till the end u can see the joint. But somehow the joint is zig zag

i at 1st would say it's that as well
but looking at that line, it's not consistent at all which isn't supposed to look like that

if you're braking aggressively everytime or most of the time
go for ceramic brake pad(if there is even for your model)
