Jendela: Malaysia’s 4G now covers 97pc of populated areas, 5G at 54.7pc Malaysia’s 4G network now covers 96.92 per cent of populated areas, which is slightly more than its initial target of 96.9 per cent population coverage. Meanwhile, the number of fibre-passed premises has hit 7.74 million which is above the target of covering 7.5 million premises by the end of 2022. In terms of download performance, it is reported that Malaysia’s average mobile broadband speed is now at 116.03Mbps, exceeding its initial target of 35Mbps. When it comes to 5G coverage, there are 4,363 5G sites as of February 2023 which provides coverage in 54.7 per cent of populated areas.
