Hello,

Struggling to decide whether do I need to coat my new vehicle.

The reason is I just want it to stay glossy as long as possible then coating has come to my mind. Has done lots lf research and check and come to conclusion that coating will denifinitely not able to protect your car from chips and water marks and also will need to maintain it by washing and drying it often.

Then i also come across few brand and coating product and would like to know anyone here has used/tried any of the product below? Can tell your feedback? Whether your car still remain as gloss as new after some time?(more than 6months)

Brand i checked as below:
Supahado ( claimed that not afraid rain but not with tap water as the chlorine is bad for the coat. Can come to do detail cleaning every few months to clear the water marks)

Revivify self healing LPPF coat. ( haddness is 6H so not like other 9H hardness that is so hard and those chips mark will remain there. Can self recover when heated by heat gun at 80degree so can send back to workshop to recover by letting them to heat the LPPF thus it able to recover and remove some minor stone chips stain)

Gtech ( one car a day coating so provide you a good quality coat)

Ceramic coating ( coating with most reviews. Provide free touch up anytime within the warranty period. Price higher then other coating by 1k)

ULGO ss2 ( coating with japan brand. 5layers coating)

Anyone can share your experience on those coating above or any good recommendations? Thanks alot

got budget, do PPF as ppf is really meant to avoid rock chips, simple wash scratches, easier to remove highway bugs.

i did both PPF for front part of the car and ceramic coating. i highly regret doing ceramic coating (at some reputable brand also) as its honestly useless. the shine and water bead can be obtain if you wash, clay, wax your car.

Ppf is too expensive 😂

Thanks for bringing this up, would like to know as well. What's the price range like?

The purpose of PPF or coating is to reduce the maintenance/washing of the car right?

With PPF or coating, is waxing still necessary? Can you use other products such as wax/sealant/clay?

Cheap range 1k
Normal range 2-3k
Expensive - 3k and above

Ppf can protect your car. It is like a layer of plastic on your car. Actually to me it is not that useful because you dont really enjoy the benefit of ppf as you only remove the ppf when you wan to sell your car with better pricing in future so the next owner will only benefit from it.

For coating it is just a thin layer of liquid coated on your car surface and the thin layer will works to protect your car paint from uv light and etc. But it doesnt means you no need to wash your car. In fact you need to wash your car regularly to maintain the coating condition and cannot wash by those car wash shop under tree as the shampoo they used is usually cheap brand which will harm the coat. Also if you dont clean regularly it will have water marks which stay on your car which is ugly.

There is one new coating which is graphene coating which claims can reduce 90% of water mark compare to normal coating. But i can only found one shop doing this in kl so i do not have much information to compare. Still doubt on the graphene product as not much information can be compare.

With coating, you should not do any wazing or polishing as you will remove the coat and yeah then your money is gone.

Just finished my Ceramic Coating today. Got the car for around a month and the staff already spotted several stone chips while prepping it, mostly at bonnet and front bumper. My initial plan was to do PPF, but ended up with ceramic coating. Firstly, is due to cost saving, and second is a possibility of upgrading after 3 years.

If you gonna use your ride for years, then go for PPF at the front and coating for remaining area. I usually request them not to coat the windscreen as to avoid wiper juddering.

Any recommendations for ppf? As if your ppf quality is bad it will turn yellow after some time

Agreed ceramic coating is basically useless. It does neither protection for chips nor the usual rain tears drop stain. Those stain will have to be removed by using wax as normal car wash wont be able to do that esp light color cars where those black marks are easily visible

Like i mentioned at the start, coating cannot protect from chips or raindrops. It just help your car to stay glossy with sufficient maintenance.
