I think Lampard want the flexibility to change the formations during the game with Werner in the game. He just need change 1 player and the whole formation can change. That why he keep playing those players out of their best position forgetting playing his squad players strengths. He think too much π
Hope he just keeps it simple and straight forward. Players try but are confused and just not comfortable.
Maybe he got too much cook menus learned from many first class managers during his playing time until donβt know what he cooking π

Last time it was a rock solid tactic, now there are many ways to counter it and shud not be played against mou since he's the one who came up with it
It also sucks against gegenpressing since mane and salah will jz pressure kante to concede the ball

Totally agree, i think we play better with a target man like TAMMY/GIROUD up front and TIMO on the flank. There is no use TIMO playing in the middle with so many opponent around, eyes all on him and there is no space for him to utilize his speed.
Tactically we will be very one dimensional playing TIMO as CF. If opponent overload the midfield, we cant long ball bypassing the midfield if we dont have a target man CF. If opponent defending deep that means TIMO speed totally nullified playing at the center. Not say he cannot play at center, as he will be good if we defending deep playing on counter attack or when our player develop more understanding when they can interchange front position at will.
For example, despite CR7 goal scoring record, he never really play at center, RM have BENZEMA there do the link up. CR7 have a free role and mostly at flank because that is the position he can utility his speed and not man mark at the center by many opponent player. But he will always drift into the box as a second CF waiting delivery to score which i hope TIMO can play similar.
What really pleasing under LAMPARD is we have many player in the opponent box when we attack, compare to previous manager/HAZARD era, where we only see 1 CF in the box and all the player outside the box circling pass.
Um, that's what a targetman does? So chelsea hired a natural number 9 to not play as a 9? Lol
That only works against weaker teams. Against strong opponent, tunggu kelong je due to high line. Unless ur pressing is godlike like Liverpool's
