Philips TVs are good (I have a Philips CD-I Interactive Player from back in the day which I have upgraded to play A/V or multimedia files and formats from disc or memory card, watch DVD, SACD, HDCD, MP4 DVD, MP3 DVD, DivX DVD, Photo CD etc. play 24 & 32 bit 2D and 3D games, play Interactive titles from Philips CD-I format as well as later install the networking module to surf the Internet and watch and listen to streaming services.)

But I find my homegrown Malaysian brand or off-brand Dawa LED TV much more sharper, brighter, clearer and vivid than my Philips LED Smart TV downstairs.

Well, if I told you everything it would be like giving my secret away, my Philips CD-i player is definitely modified hardware wise by adding commercially available plug in circuit boards. I had the disc tray changed to DVD capable laser head and had additional programming added or additional software features or instruction set added to its firmware. The additional firmware or instruction set comes on the ROM in the circuit boards that support all CD-I upgraded features by way of switching. All additional upgraded firmware that support additional functions is GUI OSD (Graphical User Interface On Screen Display) menu driven to match the Philips CD-i built in pre programmed original firmware.

Any SACD, DVD or disc, thumb/pen drive as well as memory card is possible. Mine has the capability to read 40 A/V formats including FLAC, OGG, WMV, WMA, 3GP, Xvid, AVI etc.

Yup, you can say my Philips CD-I player is modified and upgraded electronics and firmware wise. Yikes, looks like I gave my secret away.
