Hey,first of all,I made the worst decision of my life to get the MG15 I originally planned to get the MicroCube as reccomended by LYNers in one of my former thread, but it was out of stock and I wasn't familiar with any other amps they had there. So I just tried the MG15DFX and thought it sounded quite ok..well,i thought it was ok until I used the amp in a very small gig and cranked it up.MY GOD was it horrible And from then on I've decided to move on from that crap.So which amp should I go for?? I'm not quite sure bout my budget, but below 1.5K would be nice. And i'm wondering is it possible to get a tube amp with that price range?? And I've heard some good things bout the Vox Valvetronix series, but i'm still unsure about it.So i'm still a bit clueless so your input is much appreciated Thanks

We don't recommend the Marshall MG series here.... let's just put it at that.
Yes.... The Valvetronix range of amps by vox are VERY highly recommended. Alot of users of the Vox here...... If I wasn't so obsessed with Zakk Wylde and a true tube tone, I'd buy the AD50VT already.
Amazing tonal range and for the price you pay, EXCELLENT sounds. Check with CK music (Their number in the Music Shop/Jamming Studios page) for the best price.

Hahah the MG is really a disgrace..i had no idea what I was thinking of when buying that amp Hrmm may I ask what do people like so much bout the Vox Valvetronixs?? And is 50w sufficient for small gigs?? I would prefer not to have to rent an amp for small gigs

Look at all my stars!!

the vox amp is definitely good for that price. 50 watts is more than enough for small gigs. after all, you could always mic the amp up.

The Micro Stack is the exception..... It's NOT made in India, it has the marshall crunch (like everydying said) when it's past the volume level.......

Dude, it depends on what genre you play mostly. If you a variety of tones, go for the Valvetronic. If you're more into balls to the wall metal, the Cube is a better choice as it has a pretty sweet Rectifier modeler. You definitely can't get even a half decent tube amp with that budget bro, sorry. But dont worry, the Cube and Vox are both quite good enough improvements over the MG anyway. And they can get quite loud. But dont worry, you can always mic it up if you need to. Once heard a joke that the MG stands for "Mahatma Ghandi" and the amp sounds like his stomach after going on anther one of those week long fasts of his. Haha, that was a pretty good way to sum up the amp. (Hope no one finds this offensive)

Well, Kelvyn of Ocean of Fire uses a Marshall MG100 full stack, and his tone is great

Yes, it is in your budget. And i'm not sure, but so far i've only seen it in CK Music. Although if you play metal and intend to get the Vox, you might want to get an OD pedal as a boost or something because the Vox doesn't really get very high-gain. But if you're not intending on using it for metal, its a good enough amp as it is.

Like the MG100 at Que Tones, foiyo... Don't like that amp... But he uses a head + cab version. Plus he has his pedalboard of death on the floor (weighs close to 40-freaking-kg).

QUOTE(soulfly @ Aug 12 2007, 11:54 AM) how about Line6 Spider series? NOOOOOO!!!! He could do a LOT better than that with the budget he has. As it's been said, it's his choice between the Roland Cube or a Vox Valvetronic.
