There is no R&D department in TF-AMD.

i think the benefits should be quite same with other factories.
What i know from my friend:
1. food subsidy 1 day rm5
2. increment not bad as my friend get >10% continuously for 2 years.
3. turnover rate quite high

You may mixup between TF-AMD and AMD.

They're a OSAT company, meaning companies like AMD outsource their chipsets to TF-AMD for assembly & testing. Thus TF-AMD don't develop their own products.

They got RnD team and production team inside. It is still AMD. Just under China company hence called TF-AMD

No wonder these factories need to have security check when exiting the factory floor/labs.

In US, everything is honor system, no checks and you can do whatever you want with the chips.

Working in companies like Intel and AMD, you need brains and politics.

The politics is way too heavy.

If you dont perform, you are out.
If you perform very well and become a threat to your immediate superior, you will be played out.
If you perform so well and the superior of your superior (say regional in charge) likes you and weed him out, you will thrive at first and soon be a threat to him and he will still play you out.

My dad was already very high up in Intel, the whole intel International only got 4 in charge of this department (cannot name) - that time these 4 are in Portland, Oregon - Santa Clara, California - Shanghai - and Penang

Dad got played out by his superior, his superior after one year got played out by his own superior who directly ans to the CEO.

But dont expect it to last very long, my friends who worked in Intel got shown the door quite fast, usually within 5 years.

The key is to keep your immediate superior looking good.. Give him all the contracts, give him your full support. Keep him on your side and you and your boss together will quickly rise up the ranks.

But again, the second point is real and more difficult to clear.. You can't stop the freshies coming in and you being replaced eventually.. It happens.

The best is to just keep saving your money, and eventually get out by the time you hit your 40s.. VSS after 20 years of service should actually be seen as a good windfall payment.

starting a business even if part-time is also a good idea whilst you are in your 30s.

20months VSS not bad weh. Why didn't jump to broadcom and continue the money printing?

My friend got 15 months VSS in 2015, joined another company in Penang and has been promoted 3 times since then, now director level already.

What I knew is same with what he mentioned where some china company buy its manufacturing line and created this TF-AMD.
AMD will outsource some of the test & assembly to TFAMD which is in part of the contract where they bought it.
Technically, TF-AMD is not part of AMD so they will have totally different benefits.
Do they got a RnD team in TF-AMD? I mean RnD in what area?

Not sure which R&D but I am their vendor for some parts. Insider said they do have R&D inside.

TF-AMD is not part of AMD they're 2 different entities now. AMD still sits at the Penang plant but only renting a small portion of the office for their development team.

TF-AMD mainly doing test & assembly with AMD being their major client *duh* they also providing the same services to other clients. Perhaps the R&D team your insider referring to is AMD themself kot.

i believe this is a standard practise on most of all company big and small.....when comes to ages of 30, you got to start thinking where you want to headed next .....higher into leader cooperate or somewhere you can have your own living income at your own time.... for most ppl would choose second option but sadly they doesn't have enough cable or money to get them started and forever stay at the low range worker
