hi, i jz update my firmware to the latest version, R8BA024, any1 here also updated?

SEUS = sony ericsson update service, a free software for SE users to online update their firmware.

xs++ is SE customizing tools, user can flash firmware or backup GDFS.
wotanclient, is another software to flash firmware, but this support remotely control from their server, aka WotanServer, u might need to pay for certain flashing or upgrade process.


if ur phone cant switch on, it might be "erom" corrupted, sometimes it cause by "sudden lost power" --> unplug ur battery b4 ur phone shutdown properly.


try download the wotanclient, free from its website. Run the software, pressing numpad "2" and "5" while connecting ur cable to phone. USB flash driver for phone must be installed b4 proceed.

Added on October 30, 2007, 3:14 amthis new firmware changes:

1 Java version from 7.4-->7.7 (even newer than the current k810 latest firmware, which still 7.4/7.5)

2 Photo saving time shorten. (camera driver remain the same, version 2.5)

3 respond faster, smoother


this is wht i observe.



this firmware release from "topsony", but not yet available to update via SEUS, only can upgrade using flash.

oh, ur previous firmware is R1KG001?
i use the more previous version R1JG001 to compare, java engine version is lower.

my opinion:

camera:
original driver 2.5 is still the most stable version among all the modded camdriver. this latest firmware, increase the FOCUS speed, and faster photo saving.

acoustic:
hehe, i tried many many modded sound driver (zapf, peter, megabass, w880 850mix and more), none of them satisfying me except this R8BA024 ori acoustic, maybe the volume is not louder than the modded 1, but it promises a clearer sound and louder compare to older FW version.

headset volume, i dono how to tell, but the improvement should be better than previous version

i tried peter's b4,

1 i can fell tht my speaker almost break even i set 5-block of ringing volume, so loud, but the sound quality not tht good, seems like the author purposely set the dB level more than +5.

2 when i use headphone to talk, the voice is too sharp, jz like u set too much treble.. haha

these are the 2 main things make me decide to change..


there are too many alternative on the internet, i tried 1 by 1, even modify some acoustic file taken from my w800i.


but at last, i feel tht original acoustic of R8BA024 satisfying me the most,

1 although the loudspeaker volume is not louder than those mod, the sound quaility remain,

2 the volume also slightly higher than older firmware's acoustic.

3 the bass in player only "so so", but i dont care, cuz i still hv 1 w800i, to enjoy real MEGABASS..

oh, nvm, those acoustic files i can extract from w880's FS.

i remember last time i replace some "PHF_x_play.apf" file from my w800i,
( PHF should be Protable Handsfree short form. )
this improve the BASS feel while using headset(i use original 1)..

never try farfield b4, maybe later will try.


i also tried 1 acoustic call "JPx", dono is the same with the 1 masterjp or not..


i dont hv YM, n my hostel block all IM (msn too)..

maybe u dont hv the FLASH driver install properly. try again.

JPx too loud, 4 block of volume start to feel some noise, so i seek for a better driver that give clearer voice. haha

erm, if u know how to flash phones, it should be easy to fix tht problem.

consider the prob tht the seller mention, it is only fonts inside the phone corrupted, nothing big deal. i always try new fonts and modify the content of my filesystem, sometime will get this prob too.

some ways to fix it:
1 flash a original filesystem to phone.
2 replace the fonts file tht extract from a working filesystem.

if phone can on, can call, then nothing to worry.

this should be hardware prob, camera prob.

but, u can try to upgrade ur firmware, to c whether this prob can fix or not 1st..

u need to adjust the exposure urself.

dude, simply flashing firmware can make k800->k810.

dont worry, pc virus wont harm our phone.

the filesystem is complete different.

u can learn how to flash, and DIY, this is complete free, and u can enjoy learning new things.

bluetooth service is depends on driver and the phone's bluetooth.


for eg: k800, my laptop built-in bluetooth device supported service are "Driver for keyboard or mouse", "Dial Up Networking", "Serial port", but with another external usb bluetooth, it can even support "OBEX" and some other features...

driver for mouse or keyboard this feature is let ur phone can control ur laptop via bluetooth..

dial up networking, let u can connect to internet via ur phone.

serial port, let u select a port to directly communicate with ur phone, u can even set AT commands.

OBEX, let u directly access to contact list in phone...

but, for older phone like t610, only support "serial port" service.. even u use a good bluetooth device also not able to increase the number of feature..

my bluetooth is built in by ACER laptop, i not sure wht is the driver name.

how u connect ur phone? with cable or bluetooth?

if using bluetooth, go control panel - bluetooth - k800 -properties - service
check the port number under DUN

then u create a connection at "control panel - network connection", choose the bluetooth modem with the port number of ur k800i.


if u using cable, also the same way, but u should go control panel -system - device manager, check usb port number that connect ur k800.



for more easier way, use SE pc suite. inside there got a networking wizard, easy to use.

Added on November 8, 2007, 8:33 pmk800 can function as ur 3G modem.

but

1 battery can only hold for 3 hours ++, after that u need to charge.

2 if u connect using cable, the usb will can charge ur phone, but this make ur phone very hot, i m worry that continuous working under high temperature might decrease the lift span of ur k800i.

3 k800 can only connect at 115.2kbps on laptop, this affect the connection speed, because of limitation of cable and bluetooth.

4 k800 support until UMTS 3G, so ur speed cant go higher..


it is highly recommend that u buy a 3.5G datacard or usb modem.
CELCOM's modems are too expensive.

i use sierra Aircard 875, this card is cheap and support up to 3.6Mbps, cost u around RM400 only..

or if u feel that u do not need 3.5G in future, then normal 3G datacard will satisfy ur need, which u can get it around RM280.


if u dont like datacard, u can choose usb modem, but the price is slightly higher.

HUAWEI E220 usb modem cost around RM700.

Sierra Aircard 875Usb will cost u about RM800.
