you should try. theoretically progressive is better than interlaced, so if you upscale dvd to 1080p, and then downconvert to 1080i, surely the picture is slightly worse than direct to tv (1080p). I posted this 2 days back, but could not find it. Maybe its lost.

anyway the difference should be insignificant because the source dvd is only either 480 or 576p. i think you should connect the dvd player direct to the tv at 1080p instead of passing through to the receiver. but if the receiver have better upconverter then it is a different story already lah
