Initially I was thinking about upgrading to the Onkyo SR605 to take advantage of the HD audio capability of my HD DVD player and PS3 but this thread at avs made me seriously consider the Yamaha instead

Just got back from Harvey Norman @ Pavilion. Was quoted RM2589 for the SR605, RM3299 for the SR705 and RM4xxx for the SR805/875. Can't remember the exact price. They also have the Yamaha RX-V1800 at RM41xx and the RX-V3800 at over RM5000
The receivers are connected to some decent speakers. Might bring over some CDs and DVDs during my next visit |

QUOTE(timothyy @ Jan 3 2008, 05:34 PM) I only listened to the SR705 which is connected to some Jamo speakers so I'm unable to give any comparison reviews |

Just came back from window shopping at Desa Home Theater in Kepong and Acoustique Systems in Amcorp Mall. At Amcorp Mall I was quoted RM37xx for the Onkyo TX-SR705 and RM3690 for the Yamaha RX-V1800. At Desa I was quoted RM4000 for the RX-V1800 but as I was walking away, I was offered a "today only" price of RM3800

To the Yamaha RX-V1800 owners, any of you using banana plugs? I read in avsforum that apparently European and Asian models of this receiver does not support banana plugs. It would be very tedious to screw the speaker cables one by one

QUOTE(ronnt88 @ Aug 16 2008, 09:29 PM) well i wrote to aiman but didn't get any reply so... and my speakers arrived today so... resisted to temptation because i wanted to experience my system IMMEDIATELY!! And i must way... absolutely fantastic.. playing fight night on ps3 now & the sound is awesome!. A decade? I don't think you'll last that long. I'm willing to bet that you'll wanna upgrade something within the next two years, maybe less no regrets whatsoever... this system will last me at least a decade. learnt a lot from several forums including this so.. thanks to all. cheers!! QUOTE(ronnt88 @ Aug 16 2008, 09:45 PM) like i said.. couldn't wait for new replacement so .... gave in la. the shop offered additional 10% discount so i sapu and luckily i did or else i wouldn't be so happy now haha.
