been stuck at ur stage back few months when i 1st saw this combo at Seng Q when i 1st see it. i almost bough it, but then i chat with a few of my frenz who are into HT, they brought me to his frenz house to check out since he is selling high end HT, and now, i have changed my shopping list. this is what i m getting on june when my new house is ready :

so my advise is head to a professional shop, listen to their setup, and then decide on your budget. coz at the beginning, i was thinking, well, that RM5k combo would do just fine for me, but then when u seen and listen to better ones, u would just feel so lucky that u didn't bought that at 1st. Maybe its just me being greedy, and my opinion. hope it helps. thanks.

oh, just one last info maybe for beginner, if budget allow, try to pick a receiver (or what we call amp) with I/P conversion or up scaling. (this one i only realise when i audit my frenz demo unit). it basically convert and upscale ur normal pirated or downloaded movie to HD quality of about 70%. It took me quite some time to distinguish the difference on this.

805 should can upscale video to 1080p,or is it ur mind telling u that u should go for 806?

you should try. theoretically progressive is better than interlaced, so if you upscale dvd to 1080p, and then downconvert to 1080i, surely the picture is slightly worse than direct to tv (1080p).

anyway the difference should be insignificant because the source dvd is only either 480 or 576p. i think you should connect the dvd player direct to the tv at 1080p instead of passing through to the receiver. but if the receiver have better upconverter then it is a different story already lah

Why not consider tx-sr705? This sr705 are THX av amp thus CMY rite now having promotion to clear as prices are very attractive.
