Hey guys, just got my Sony X9000h few hours ago and the display started to have a lot of flickering issues. Then I tried to remove all hdmi cables and power plug.

After a few mins, I plugged all cables back and it back to normal. After running the Netflix for around 10mins, the flickering issue is back again... I did a factory reset right after but the flickering doesn’t go away this time.

Was intended to contact Sony customer service but sadly they are not operating on weekend. Meanwhile, I’ve contacted the seller but no reply from him yet. Any pioneer here has a better advise that can fix such problem?

Sorry, can teach me how to reflash the firmware? Because all I know is how to update instead. Lol
Yea, it’s made in malaysia. However, am not sure is this batch of tv was made in a rush or I just got a lemon unit. Because it ran out of stocks at most of the shops in Aug and I didn’t found any similar complaints about this tv online locally nor oversea.

Anyway, I’ve attached another video here that I try to run some nba show and it’s nasty... Attached File  trim.AE929635_14EB_4A58_8E08_53352AAFD8A0.MOV ( 4.76mb ) Number of downloads: 72

Same problem as my 7 year old Sony TV. The LCD panel ribbon cable is loose. Need to use double sided tape and foam to secure it. Can DIY easily.

1. Change to another hdmi cable

2. Try to play videos from native youtube app/netflix app (without getting signals from other devices eg AVR, tvbox or players)

U need to do trial and error to isolate the problem. Reset to factory settings?

Tried both removing cables one by one and different native numerous times. Did the factory reset as well but the problem still occur.
What I noticed is this tv will start such problems when there're motion happening(even from remote control).

Thanks for the advice, but I don't dare to diy it. tongue.gif Because the problem is just happen right after I receive the tv. So I think seller/Sony should rectify for me. The reason Im asking here is try to find out is anyone had such experiences that can be rectify thru some software setting. But still, thank you for the advice and hope that seller willing change a new tv to me so I dont need to take this path.

can also try other power points/plugs...ensure its connected properly and direct through main power point

disconnect all HDMI cables/devices from the TV, test videos directly within the TV itself

try to reset the to the original factory settings (android)

if still got problem, probably defective set...need to go back to the shop for replacement

Even with a new TV, it will happen again. This is due to Sony cheapened out by not securing the cable with foam tape. They it let hanging loose. During a delivery, the TV will be subjected to bumps and jolts.

Done everything you mentioned above and the problem still there.
The seller replied me and he will arrange an on-site technician visit on Monday and see how's it goes.
He told me if I requested a new replacement, it will take around 3 weeks to arrived mega_shok.gif
Speechless right now.

OMG....I seriously didn't expect such thing happened to Sony(if its legitmate).
Mind if I asking, did you tried claimed your warranty with Sony back in the days when you having such problems on your tv?

I know right... What pissed me off is the SA doesn't show any sympathy to my case imo. The way he replied my msg is like 'you try run youtube first', 'update software' but I already send him video and image telling him i already did all that before hand. Still forward me a msg from his superior saying 'just ask your client update the firmware' after an hour. mega_shok.gif

Unfortunately most shop are only interested in selling, and there is almost no chance for 1to1 exchange.

Nope. I just whack the TV every now and then when it happened. Only this year I decided to DIY due to MCO. After securing the cable with a foam tape and bits of cardboard, no more problems.

well, usually if u bought from reputable retail shops..they will deliver the TV and do basic installation (as in help u to unbox, setup and test it, to make sure everything is good)

if there is something wrong with the TV, u can reject it on the spot.

it will be a bad mistake of yours if u weren't there during delivery/test... at your home.

I bought it from OneLiving, they actually suppose to deliver to me on Monday as the SA told me they don't do delivery during weekend. Because Im out of town on Monday so no choice have to pick up by myself today. Well I guess Im just bad of luck or being that lucky enough to experience all this...

looks very much like faulty unit. I had bought a PS4 earlier, the unit out of box giving me trouble, all game i played will crash after certain duration of time. Factory reset la, update la, reinstall la, i tried everything at my will to solve it. At the end send back to shop, they give me a 1 to 1 exchange. After that the game crashing incident never happen again. Sony now is no longer the premium brand like how it used to be. Even the display panel on your tv, Sony doesnt make them.

Try to check with the shop and see if they allow you to do 1 to 1 since its fairly new. You also can check their website for the cases where they will endorse 1 to 1 exchange

Just got a call on evening from One Living ops manager, Steven.

He mentioned he definitely aware of my problems & concerns and he had arranged the Sony’s technician to visit my house for inspection tmr.(actually I’ve called Sony myself and lodged in a complaint this early morning because no one updated me since saturday + I’m gonna out of town today that got me anxious but I understand because it’s weekend so I felt better that I act to Sony first instead of keep waiting at least I see the progress)

So he told me if the problem is software issue then the technician will fix it onsite then close file. If it’s a hardware issue, just let the technician to repair it immediately while they will arrange a New unit for me to exchange when it arrive. The only con is the latest replenishment will be only able to arrive end of the month. So I’m gonna using this faulty unit till the new one arrived(if the hardware problem is repairable)

But still, I’m more than happy right now with his provided solution tbh! At least he did show his empathy and care throughout the whole conversation and most importantly the solution is easing my mind.

Once again, thank you guys for all those advises that had shared in this thread. 😁

Oh yea, speaking of Sony something can share here about them after I spoke with their customer support. Their customer support mentioned Sony warranty will only and can be perform parts repair claim instead of 1-1 exchange. So that 1-1 exchange they ask me to deal with the dealer and it’s non of their business 🤣 but thank god my PS4 has no issue like your previous unit. Mind to share which shop that willing to perform exchange for you? At least we know what shop is willing to help their customer out🙏🏻

i bought my unit from Sony Center Sutera Mall, Johor.

I do get a disclaimer from sony store website
https://store.sony.com.my/pages/terms-conditions

QUOTE
Unless Customer notifies Sony to the contrary by email, telephone or facsimile transmission within seven (7) days of delivery and such notification is confirmed in writing within seven (7) days of the notification, the Products shall be conclusively deemed to have been accepted by Customer as being in good condition and in accordance with the Contract. Subject to the Customer's statutory rights, Sony will not entertain any request to return or exchange Products. In the case of defective Products under warranty which fall within the ambit of Section 9 below, Sony reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to repair such defective Products in lieu of replacing the same with equivalent products.

But i think is mostly applicable for sony store purchases only.

Different brand TV. I think all panel TV using ribbon electrical contacts and sometime they can come loose and causing flicker.

Just an update to all who’re interested.
Sony’s technician came and he take remove part by part to diagnose the problem. Ended up there’s some misalignment on one of the connector that causing the problem.

So the technician remove and reclip it back and my family say the problem seem to be solved(up till now).

Meanwhile I’ve not decide whether to take the new replacement on end of this month or not below. Kinda not confident on Sony qc now lol.

so it's the ribbon contact after all.

Check screen uniformity. For me, that will help decide to keep or not to keep.

Thanks for the good advise there. Is that the test that just play different percentage of grey pictures or there will be a built in function in the tv to run that test?

No i didn’t, because the flickering exist with native apps watching too. And the technician explained it’s the connector was loosen up that causing the trouble. The problem was solved after he tightened it up. However, I’ve received a replacement unit from the seller ytd.

Try the following steps,

1. Press home> settings
2. Display and sound> advanced settings> clarity. If you do not have advanced settings, go for clarity.
3. Make the following changes-
4. Digital noise reduction> auto> high
5. Random noise reduction> auto> high; if it already is in that state, turn it off.
6. Decrease sharpness to 50
7. Reality creation> auto> manual
