Hi all, wanna ask some questions regarding tyres, as this is my first car and I have never changed any tyres before.

I'm using Axia 2016 AV, till now still using stock tyres.

1- Normally how long do we need to change car tyres in Malaysia? Just normal driving on road, not using it rough etc.
Depends on tire model, some last longer, some wear out faster. For your small tires size on small light car, typically would last pretty long, at least 60k km I believe  not necessarily depending on time duration. Because tires can be used for up to 5-6  years.

2- If we change, do we change all 4 one shot? or 2 by 2?
Ideally all 4 but you can only do that if you even out the wear by rotating every 15 or 20k km. If you never rotate then front will wear out much faster hence you need to change 2 first.

3- If let's say 1 tyre is faulty, do we change the 2 tyres at front/back together? or just that one tyre will do?
If the other tires are still very thick then can just buy 1 of the exact same tire. Otherwise change 2.

4- How much will be the price of per tyre for my car?
Depends on brand and model. Some more expensive like Michelin maybe can be over rm150/pc. Some cheaper between 110-150. Don't buy too cheap tires like those unknown China/Indo/Vietnam/Thai brands. Buy reputable brands.

5- If I buy new tyres from shop, will I get some discount as they will take my old tyres? How much will it usually be per old tyre?
Practically worthless if you have worn them down to below 50%

6- What are the recommended brands of tyre for my car?
Try Dunlop Sport J5, Goodyear Duraplus, or Yokohama Blue Earth

7- For tyre brands, e.g Michelin, Continental etc., will there be like many series for a car? Or just tell the shop I'm using Axia and prefer which brand then they know which to give?
Like PC DELL laptop there will be Inspiron, G series, XPS etc.
Yes got many models. Best if you know what you want, don't simply just follow the shop because shops simply sell what they carry or which one give them the big profits. Unknowlegable customers are perfect easy meat for them!

8- How to know which brand is good which is bad? like laptop I can pick easily based on the features, but is there anything special about tyre brands that differentiate them? Anything I should look out for?
Michelin, Continental, Pirelli  are typically the most expensive but not necessarily the best choice for certain model ranges or sizes. Goodyear, Dunlop, Bridgestone  Hankook, Yokohama are also good first tier brands. Other brands are lower than those. But note again, not all tires made by those top brands are necessarily worth it, some like Michelin XM2 or Continental CC6 are actually not really worth it for their relatively higher prices.

9- What are some highly reputable / trusted company that sells tyre in Cheras / Puchong area? Those that will not simply give you marked up prices etc.
no idea, better browse in Mudah or Facebook

10- Anything I should look out for when buying tyres? So that I won't be scammed by tyres seller.
Just make sure the price is all inclusive of installation,  balancing, air valves, alignments. Some may try to charge extra for each of those. And like I said above, try to research and know exactlywhat you want, don'tjust follow the shops suggestions.

Thank you for taking the time to read and reply this, I just want to clear some confusion before getting them, appreciate it!

Very good information. Another very important thing to check when purchasing new tyres is to check the manufacturing date on the new tyre. Some shops might try to sell older stock tyre without a discount to those who are not familiar about cars/tyres.

Ah ya good point, forgot about that. If they give like 1 year old or even older just ask for big discounts. Actually that's the best deal which I normally look for.
