I can't understand what compability problems you are having.

This thread just deals with SATA related driver problems and not all reformatting problems.

Hi SubKi||er,

Wat a great guide you have. I definitely gonna try it. rclxms.gif
I have Dell 640m and Dell 1525 running Vista that need to be converted to Win XP.
And have few question to ask tho...
1. Can I simply make one slipstream that includes SATA driver for 640m and 1525? So that i don't have to make 1 copy slipstream each.
2. I try to find 640m SATA driver at Dell Support website but they didn't provide the driver so where can i get the correct driver for 640m? FYI, they have SATA driver for Dell 1525.

These two question maybe out of topic.. but in case u know or anyone here know.. pls help biggrin.gif
3. If i install Dell Media Direct on the laptops and followed by Win XP installation will there be any effect on Win XP installation? (sory i'm a noob)
4. I'll be using Win XP Home OEM version i bought from lelong.com, can i use the OEM version to install on both laptops? Or i just can install only either one?

Thanks in advance ! smile.gif

1) Actually, the slipstream in my guide put in all common known SATA drivers. So it should include drivers for most chipsets. They included it so you don't have to find anymore, just slipstream it correctly with my guide.

2) Same as above answer.

3) As long as you dont' delete the MediaDirect partition then you're ok. MediaDirect is actually just an modded Windows XP Embedded in another partition. If you don't delete the partition, or install into the wrong partition then it should still work correctly on itself.

4) I'm going to ignore the license problem because i'm not good at it either, but if slipstream wise you can use the same CD on both.
