I purposely keep Hotlink and Maxis running concurrently to see if there are any significant difference. While I believe Hotlink is slower but for my use it's good enough (I hope Maxis won't further cripple the Hotlink speed or experience, which will then cause me to migrate to another provider totally).

The RM35/month is for 3MB/s but it's good enough for Zoom, Youtube and other work use. The only problem is sometimes I need hotspot which can be solved by either adding RM5 to have hotspot capability or use my other line to hotspot.

For speed test I use Ookla, but getting inconsistent results, since the previous last couple of weeks BOTH Hotlink and Maxis data connection is like sh!t. Sometimes the Hotlink's supposedly limited to 3mb/s speed is faster than the full speed Maxis.

But I have not seen anything near 30MB/s download lately with my Maxis line, I used to see something like 40MB/s if I remember correctly. Just now I got download at 2.61MB/s for Hotlink and 5.88MB/s for Maxis, upload 13.3MB/s for Hotlink, 2.49MB/s for Maxis.

AND I am seeing a lot of unable to connect or test failed to complete for the Maxis line and no problems for Hotlink.

Donno how ayam can live with 6mbps only wor.
So very slow if compare with current 32mbps 4G+.

If drop to 2.3mbps, maybe ayam nid to subscribe unifi/fibre line liddat. Or change other provider. Like using 3310 modem to surf wapsite.

Ayam heard 5g sub6 is fast like 4g+ only but will free up bandwidth so won't get congested.

Cancel if really only max 6mbps.

Previously, the Maxis line was more than adequate for my needs and was relatively satisfied with it, bar the legendary Maxis screw up few years ago where they give better deal/discount to customers who want to port out and screw loyal customers who paid full price.

Then MCO came and no matter how good is the full speed data line, it can't handle 3 kids' online schooling needs, not to mention my own. So the first chance I get (during the first CMCO) I enquired at Maxis Center for their fiber plans - they didn't call back, so Unifi's Fibre it was. Very satisfied and now there is actually no need for the full speed Maxis data already.

I rmb the infamous legendary maxis offerings that screwed lots of their loyal customers. Yet during those time maxis reps were just too arrogant to address customer grievances in a professional way and gave no solutions.

I actually did porting out to celcom but in the midst of the transition, maxis called back and offered the same as they promoted to new customer.

So yeah, that was really one of the infamous marketing strategy that maxis did without considerations for their existing loyal customers that'd backfired them. A lesson learned for maxis indeed.

Hope they don't screw up again with whatever those new marketing and promotion packages that they currently working on now.

For me it's not this game that's the disaster, it's how they are retiring some of their corporate plans (Maxis One Business) and forcing me to go to Maxis One Plan that costs 40% more for just slightly (+10GB) more data. This is hardly a well advised move from Maxis during pandemic. To maintain same monthly payment I am going down from 70GB/mth to 40GB/mth.

So I decided to go to Hotlink Prepaid Unlimited Data, Calls and SMS for RM35/mth for ~65% in cost savings for one number and porting out to another network for another number.

Applied for port out yesterday, today Maxis called to offer Nova 7 SE for free as long as I sign up MOP128 (60GB/mth) or MOP158 (80GB/mth). My current plan is MOB148 but paying RM98/mth(before tax) for 70GB/mth. I am paying lower as it is part of a corporate plan.

Nova 7 SE RRP RM1499

Even at the lower MOP128 (RM135.68 with tax) vs Hotlink RM35 (no service tax), I am saving RM100/mth, over the 24 months save RM2.4k can buy better phone or put money to better use during these bad times.

These are better terms than my corporate plan, corporate plans give about RM1k device subsidy while this Maxis offer is RM1.5k for similar commitment per month.

Well, not surprised these shenanigans are still happening.

Sub 6 5G I think still faster than 4G+ la. However, Ultra Wide Band (700Mhz) 5G is 4G/4G+ speed, that's what T Mobile US used.

Wow totally unexpected. I thought that I wouldn't win the phone. Just got a call from Maxis saying I won.

Note: Its from Maxis Business not Maxis Consumer ya. Maxis Consumer winners most probably finalized and won't change already.
