Getting Started

Your deviant page is a good start as a beginner and art work is good for the effort. Thought I don't know what is your extend at getting better at drawing means to me, so you have to explain what your goal is at becoming a better artist. Like for me my goal for getting better at art is to be able to draw and color character illustrations efficiently and with no loss in quality. I am not too fond of being a motivational speaker but my advice is don't be afraid of criticism or be angered by other person comments. Just be happy and have fun creating what you are proud of. Although you should try to be mature about taking criticism/feedback since this is how you can improve your skill and understand how others see your artwork. No matter where you turn to, there is always criticism lurking in the shadows. Last but most important, try everything and never stop learning because the biggest motivation in life is being able to create something what others have not.

QUOTE(mojavemailman @ Aug 26 2020, 08:03 PM) "be able to draw and color character illustrations efficiently and with no loss in quality" yeah my goal is similar like yours. To be able to draw any pose that I want without making it look weird is one of my goal as well. I have joined a few art tutorial youtubers discord server to ask for feedback but yeah I'm afraid so I am going to practice a lot on the basic first. Cool, its good you are proactively seeking help or advice from other artists. I did the same before and one of the best advice I got from a pro concept artist is to study and practice drawing human anatomy in various poses based off of reference pictures. Instead of using actual photo references, he recommend using posemaniacs because they use a standard 3D model as the subject so this makes your drawing consistent between different poses. Its normal for everyone to be afraid at first since we see ourselves in the works we create, or in other words, we get paranoid about showing our lack of skill/knowledge to others. So don't let that get to you and have fun when it comes to doing what you like.
