haha
btw, any advice on getting a Honda based on your experience so far?
I've only owned
a Proton Iriz, and my family owns a Hyundai.
For the Proton, not much fuss except for the penumbuk CVT. Power windows rosak twice, fixed by proton. Rattling sound, they tried to solve, can't solve even after taking out everything. Then gave up.
But other than that, engine and gearbox not much issues. 7 years service at SC. Though the engine is getting loud nowadays.
For the Hyundai, SC is ..... expensive LOL. So my family early on adi service outside. So i got no info on Hyundai SC. But 10 years d, not much mileage, so far 0 issues.
How about the Honda City? How are the SC and they attitude towards issues raised? I don't mind issues in cars, since it's production line, but more important is SC able to listen and at least try to fix.
My household currently have 2 Honda.. A 2010 City and a 2013 HRV.
Based on my observation, the newer generations of Honda (2016 and above) have really skimp down on quality. I can give a few examples as below:
1) Newer HRV have tendency of front bumper dislodging by itself due to cracks on the bumper clips;
2) New gen City have steering rack or clock spring issues. Will have clunking sound randomly when turning the steering.
3) CVT chain snapping off (Spans across HRV, City and Civic).
My advice is, you can still get the Honda provided you don't drive it rough. They aren't the Honda where you can trash them anymore. It needs more TLC if you plan to use them for long term.
SC nowadays is very money minded now. They will throw in all sorts of add-on to suck your money. To name a few, engine cleaner and fuel cleaner. SC is selling these for like RM80 and RM40 each. You can get them outside for 50% the SC price. Since not many people knows about car parts, 90% of Honda owners will sure to be ripped off at SC during their service maintenance.
If you want to ask me what is my next car... I can tell you I'll go for the Yaris / Altis / Cross. My household also have a Yaris and for its price, it's quite solidly built and can withstand abuse and rough drivers. I'll be keeping the 2010 City and 2013 HRV.
