I just collected my new car recently and am thinking of what treatment do we need to do for new car. I heard of coating, waxing, polishing, PPF etc but want to know which one is really needed or suitable for new car. My concern is because my car is pearl orchid white and white gets those watermark and black stains very easily. I do plan to wash my car regularly like once a week or fortnight but just wondering is there any treatment that can help protect these from eating into the paint or prolong the time it takes for these effects from appearing?

If you have the budget, do ceramic coating & PPF.

I asked before.. Some said do coating is a waste of money if you can wash your car regularly if dirty.

Anyway, I sent my car for coating cos I stay at apartment and not convenient to wash my car. I send my car to car wash every week.

New car better don't do polish cos will damage the clear coat. My older car, I send it for polishing every 6 months after 6 years of ownership.

coating will reduce swirl mark, but will not prevent it. Not matter how hard your coating sand is 7H+, dust contains silica/quartz basically very fine sand which is also 7H+. Also doesn't protect against stone chip.

This only fool proof is PPF, but it is 15-17K to fully wrap a c-segment sedan.

No need all that polishing and coating la, waste of money only. Your car paint already has a clear coat paint protection from the factory, what for top up another clear coating?? Just wash it as often as you can and apply that spray on wax like once a month is enough. If still itchy then go to car saloon to have more proper cleaning and waxing (but not polishing) like once every quarter using some cheap Lazada vouchers.

Actually what is the purpose of coating? Is it to reduce those micro scratches? I heard people say after do coating will still have watermark those

Ok PPF is definitely out of my budget I think sweat.gif

What kind of coating did you do? And was it able to reduce watermark / black stain those if you wash once a week? Because I also plan to wash once a week if free else will be once a fortnight

There are expensive Western imported brand and there are cheap China imported and also moderate Malaysia brand (most likely China imported also laugh.gif )

Yes, instead of paste type wax which is more tough to buff and probably longer lasting, I just use spray type. The car is new and you can prolong its new look simply just using this kind of wax.

Many probably coat such as glass or nano ceramic whatever, but this also need to visit the shop yearly to so called recondition smile.gif . Said easy to wash because dirt will just don't stick much. Well, I believe my simple wax also will do just as good as that. Furthermore, coating will not protect against pebble chips whatever and it cost thousands. 4 or 5 years warranty? I'd say you can get professional repaint for the same amount after 5 years laugh.gif

You can buy any brand you like whichever you think reasonably priced. I can;t recall my brand but it is local and quite established name I guess. When car is still new, this simple wax will do. For oxidize paint you may want to polish and wax.

Coating was designed for shine and replace waxing as scarification layers. It it harder than paint clear coat but not scratch proof.

If only drive around the town, just regular wash will keep it pristine for years. If you do a lot of highway, still need to go back to the shop for maintenance.

The shop that tell you completely no need maintenance, that is bullshit. It really depends on your usage.
The coating can be polished and sand off, just harder and need different compounds and more time.

So, it is harder but will not beat the sands. You can key it, and probably don't leave a mark. Some tiny sands will scratch it real deep.

As for watermark, the tap water will leave chlorine after dry, same for any surface, coating or not. Rain water is fine, but wipe dry after the car wash. But you leave swirl mark when you wipe dry.
Depends on how obsessive you are with the paint.

Although I do occasionally polish and wax but you need to ask yourself this. Do you intend to keep the car for 10 (or more than 5) years or more? If not, just wax every few months (depends on your driving environment) and wash is enough.

Of course, unless you have a show car, like a supercar or something, then ok la. If it is a 100k car, spend more on the interior would make more sense to me. But that is personal opinion laaaaa ...

Yes DIY very easy, can use KIT or Waxco, good enough.

If go saloon they use paste/liquid wax. Sorry I meant Fave vouchers. Yes they're good enough and value for money, only around rm50-100. You check the details over the treatments that's included in the package so can compare and choose accordingly. For new car you don't need those claying and polish step, just wash/cleaning and waxing. Do that once every 3-4 months plus your own weekly washing and spray wax, then your paint will maintain nicely for years, no need those nonsense thousands of ringgit coating!

Apply something like RainX or Glaco on all your Windows and windscreen once a month. Will help with watermark issue on glass.

I was just done my first Meguiar's Ultimate Paste Wax for my new car after 1 month of usage. Actually I'm waiting for my Meguiar's Hybrid Ceramic Wax. Unfortunately, the courier is too slow, until today I still not get it. All my clay bar, quik detailer, ceramic wax, wheel cleaner still not yet received. I only got one Meguiar's Ultimate Paste Wax, so have no choice lah. Wax it first because I am worrying about new car get swirls.

new car doesn't need any treatment at all
u don't need polish since there is no scratches and u don't polish it unless there is scratches else it will make your paint thinner...it's not time to wax yet either

since your car is white, u gotta wax is every 6 month to maintain it
other than that...just wash it..that's all
